Live from VWL - until 3/9 then a trip report

Busy day today. Just drying out from the torrential downpour that was the and Party. Fun parade and we were thankful that the fireworks even went off. Perhaps this was payback for the long hallway comments....

We have breakfast at the Poly tomorrow morning. Plan to do a bit of exploring around WL before heading over to MK to see my DS march. We will have to try and find the boat launch to MK.....someone mentioned a back door???? Time to break out the map.

Thanks to everyone for the food suggestions from the Roaring Fork. I don't think I did look anywhere but above the grill. Too tired from riding all those rides with no wait in between I guess.

We are loving our stay here. Have only spent about 6 waking hours in our room. Dsis and I are pretty quick to get going in the morning and we've been too busy to come back. Guess that is what happens when two sisters get away for a girlie trip.

REDRUM anyone? Oh sorry wrong hotel. We stayed at the end of the hall once too. The walk was not bad. We just did not like being so close to the service area. It ruins the feeling.

I own at those two AND AKV. I still say no walk is longer than the ends of the trails at AKV.

I think it is great that when designing these fine vacation homes DVC thought of our personal fitness and incorporated invigorating walks to and from our accommodations!

Makes me less inclined to feel bad about the goodies I'm consuming on the DDP.

Glad to hear you are having such a great trip. Sounds like you all are going full tilt commando and hitting everything you wanted to be sure to cover.

I hope the weather holds out for you and no more torrential downpours.

And thanks for taking my comments, photos and such in the spirit intended. I only responded because a lot of people read these boards and I didn't want them to get misconceptions.

BTW, until a couple of years ago all you could get at Roaring Fork was those usual burgers, fries and pizzas and some refrigerated pre-made sandwiches. So it really is only fairly recently that they upgraded the menu.

When we stayed at VWL last May, I thought of all of you when I first looked at the hall.

We have had the beloveded dumpster view 3 times on 3 different floors. While I do not mind the walk I am tired of the view. Next time I will request to be closer to the elevators.

It does seem strange to me that a nice resort can't figure a better place to put the dumpsters.
Especially at Disney... you'd think they would be extra creative!!!

Did you happen to check in late those three times or were those rooms preassigned to you? We'll be at VWL in May/June and I'm hoping we don't get one of those rooms.

Go back down to Roaring Fork.

Look at the counter where you order that pizza, chicken strips and burgers.


Now turn left 90 degrees and look up a bit.

We haven't stayed at all the DVC resorts but Roaring Fork is one of the better counter food places in our experience at the various resorts.

This evening I found I wasn't super unobservant, but later in the evening this board above is flipped to display tomorrow's fresh mixed yogurts (went to the RF for a snacklette tonight at 9 pm) Thought I was loosing my mind thinking "how did I miss that?" The Cast Member was looking at me strangely tonight as I was trying to look at the back. Sure enough there was the board you showed us. We are going to try one of the sandwiches before we leave on Sunday.

Drove to the Poly for breakfast, straight shot about 5 minutes. Came back and valeted our car and took the boat to MK today. BOY was that ever nice. Another plus for VWL!

oh my - i just have to giggle when i hear you guys talk about how far your rooms are.

while i'll admit after spending all day at one of the parks walking around it would be nice to get to your room quickly but for us it's all part of the vacation - walking through the resort grounds to get to our section usually pretty quiet at the end of the day and by the time we get back we're ready to crash and do it all again tomorrow.

i've read some people stay at ssr and walk to dtd - now that's a distance

It is beautiful today! Going to try and get a few pictures of the resort before our afternoon at Hollywood Studios. Can't get used to the new name...the signage is transitioning too.

My favorite cast member at VWL so far is Angel who flags in cars when you arrive! Don't really know what his job is since I've never seen him go get a car, so I think he supervises. He can give directions anywhere in a way that is easy to understand. He is so friendly and nice too.

The hallway lengths and walks in both VWL and BWV can be long depending on the room you are in. I have had the magnificiant "dumpster view" at VWL and in February was in 2BR at BWV in room 1128 my villa was the second to the last in the long hallway. BWV walk was much longer when you came in from the BW but if you figure out all the entrances available it is fine. It took no minutes to get to the busses at BW right out the side foor and across the lot. I will however say the quiet pool hot tub being 20 steps from my patio door won out over the "dumpster" for views. I actually loved the location and being on the first floor in the BW, we had no kids with us and it really was peaceful and beautiful, from now on its going to be my request, go figure.....
