Live from Vero 2/15 - Beach Work Begins

Arrived yesterday to find oout that the beach wrok had been delayed and the hopes that it would start until Wednesday the 17th. No such luck .... the tell tale sounds of construction equipment reverse signals in the air at 7:00 AM said it all. The work has begun!!!

No worries though I cant wait for the improved beach upon my August return visist!! I have almost blocked out the sounds of the construction!

Hey they changed the music tracks poolside (thank goodness) and Im at poolside with reliable wireless... what could be better right?

Maybe some WARM weather.... 39 this morning when I woke up ..... YIKES... only 7 degrees warmer then MA!!!!

Thanks for the update Mahusky! It's nice to know what actually would have happened.

Looks like we made the right choice for us. Having a BC would have put us right in the action. That is definitely not what we were paying all those points for.

Currently we are overlooking the bay (with gulf access) and spotty internet. It is very cold but at least it is sunny.!

I hope you continue to successfully block out construction noises. We're looking forward to a late June BC stay and I hope the beach will still welcome the turtles that depend on it for survival.

DH is there with our daughters (I couldn't get off work). Trucks rolling in at 1 per minute, began at 7AM. He says it's pretty noisy.

They have decided to checkout early ,tomorrow, instead of staying until Saturday.

Now again the noise is not that bad to me but hey that is IMHO.... Now the new lights on the other hand are down right AWEFUL!!!!!

What is up with those?

I must have missed some news... what work is being done to the beach, and have new lights been added? I would love a few more details.

Beach replenishment project underway... (reported on the VB Board http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2344361) ....... beach closed and will be for sometime.

Lights I havent read but they were installed a couple of weeks ago according to a CM. They are terrible!

Day 1 complete of the beach project. They have raised the level of the beach at least 4 feet ( 40 ft towards the beach from the original dune/cliff) from Villa 1575 to the pier where they store the waverunners. the have also done some extensive addition south of the resort towards the point you can see fom the VB property.

They had 4 giant dump trucks and 4 bulldozers working. yesterday.

Thanks for the updates. This cold weather is getting old down here. At least the sun is shining. Extra pool lighting doesn't sound like a good thing at all. Can it be seen from the beach? Hope you enjoy your stay.

I know what your thinking about seeing it from the beach.... an yes you can you ever..... The pool glows LOL....


All of it in theory is turtle friendly and approved......

We were at Vero a week and a half ago and the lights are energy efficient LED's. Hopefully they will help keep our dues down. They have done several things at Vero to help save energy cost. Beach-pool towels were also in your room, no take out of towels at pool area.
