Live from universal 6/3-6/7

My ds, 12, and I are in Orlando celebrating his first year of middle school. We arrived today at around 2:00 at Sanford airport and were picked up by flcar service. Our driver, bob, was awesome! He dropped us off at the royal pacific around 3:00.

We checked into our club floor room and grabbed some sodas. Then we printed off our express passes. It rained for about 10 minutes while I unpacked. Then we walked over to universal studios where we picked up our annual passes. (We are coming back in september with the rest of the family) We immediately went to transformers, which opened up for softs at 4:45. This was a great ride! My son loved it! Them we headed over to the Simpsons ride, the new restaurant is open. We used the restrooms, but didn't eat. Finally we trekked over to finnegans and ate a burger and shepards pie.

After universal studios we headed over to IOA. It was about 6:00 now. We rode Cat In a Hat, Hulk, and Spiderman, then we headed our.

I stopped at Latin quarter for a mojito and we walked back to RPH. We stopped at the lounge for cookies and Creme broule bites. Yummy!

We woke up early this morning and had breakfast in the club lounge. Isaac was looking forward to the oatmeal, but the breakfast offerings have changed a bit. No more oatmeal or individual bottles of jelly. I usually have a huge croissant with raspberry jam, instead I had a mini croissant with strawberry smuckers and a raspberry mini dessert thingy. Decent, but not what I'd been craving. We grabbed milk and a tea and headed out the door.
We took the morning boat to islands early entry. our first stop was Olivanders. This show gives me shivers, I get so excited for the young witch/wizard chosen for their wand! Next we headed over to Forbidden journey. For a bit of explanation , I am vision impaired and have night blindness. I always use the modified ride entrances (elevators and stopped walkways). This morning we took the elevator up to fj and the sound in our bench didn't work, so we rode again, still didn't work.(FYI the ride is really strange without noise!!) We get off, they bring in a new bench and finally we get the full ride experience. Unfortunately after three rides Isaac and I are a bit quezy and light headed! So what do we do? Ride the Hippogriff of course. We love our buckbeak. We stop in the hogs head and grab a butterbeer regular and head to Jurassic park. We were 10 minutes too early for the discovery center so we kept walking. Our next stop was the Comic store in superhero island. After Ds enjoyed some teenage shopping I talked him into my family favorite ride, Cat in hat. After dr Seuss, we headed to lost continent. Here we found...the store of my sons dreams. The Coat of arms.
This store was amazing! it was full of replicas of swords and daggers. my ds drooled, he hyperventilated, and then he begged me for his dream gift. My son is a nerd. If you've seen the Big Bang theory, my ds IS Sheldon cooper. Well, my ds spotted two items he had to have. Luckily one was a Klingon batliff and we couldn't get it past airport security (phew!!). Item number two is THE ONE RING, omg did my ds eyes glaze over at this one. He started quoting lotr, "one ring to rule them all." Lets end the story by saying my son is now wearing a huge ring, and a giddy grin and is the envy of all his geek friends.
After the drama of ultimate nerd discovery, we ate at Myths. Isaac ate the beef medallions (fillet no longer on menu?!?!?!) and I had meatloaf. Delicious as usual. About noon we headed back to the Hotel. We rested for a bit and had snacks in the lounge. I had goldfish and Isaac had about 6 uncrustables. Around 3 we went down to the Pool for an hour. At 4:30 we went to eat on the club floor. Tonight was European food menu night. (see food sticky for my club floor menu) had a beer and a glass of wine. After eating we went over to universal to hit up Rip rocket. Next we went to DM, Shrek, and Men in black. Finally we rode Et, then headed out before a storm hit. Back at the rpr we grabbed a snack at Jakes bar. Isaac had a burger and I had a bowl of soup. Then we headed up to bed. Early day again tomorrow!

We headed to the lounge late this morning, but were greeted by.. Oatmeal! Yea! We stuffed our tummies, geabbed a tea, and rolled out about 9:00.

We took the boat to universal studios this morning. I started the morning out by taking park photos with my good Nikon camera. Usually I just use my iPhone because I hate using lockers. After my photo shoot, we headed over to the Simpsons ride, then MIB. Next we did mummy and rip rocket. After our coaster fix we refilled my butterbeer mug with coke and headed over to the 11:15 beetlejuice show. It began to sprinkle after the show so we headed out of the park.

We ate lunch at Hard Rock Cafe. Isaac had a burger and fries and I ordered the bruschetta and side of Mac and cheese. Yummo!!! After lunch we headed back to the rpr. We took the dog out, hit up the lounge for soda and pb&j, then crashed in front of the tv for a rest. Tonight's dinner in the lounge is Italian.

After dinner we are headed to IOA and I have my sights set on a few hurricanes at pats! Hope the rain passes us by tonight.

Love your reports! Great club level info. We are staying at the royal for the first time in a few weeks. We upgraded to club and think it will be worth it with 2 boys...12 and almost 14.

What are the afternoon snacks?

Wednesday night, after supper it stopped raining so we decided to head back out to the park. We took the oat to IOA and road hulk and spiderman. Then we walked over to the studios to eat at krustys in the new Simpsons area. Isaac had a burger and ugly fries and I had a footling Nathan's dog. I can't remember the name of the hot dog, but it was smothered in chili, cheese, coleslaw, and onions. It was to die for. We also split a buzz cola. After eating we headed back to the hotel to check out the lounge desserts. There was coffee cake and cookies. We headed to bed planning to hit the parks tomorrow, even with tropical storm Andrea set to hit the area.

We were at RPH CLub level 6/5-6/7. I think we may have seen you in the club lounge--our DDs took particular notice of your canine companion. Glad you enjoyed your visit, despite the storm!
