Live from the SSR for the first time ever!!!

Hi all. Just arrived last night for our first stay as DVC members! We had a horrible first day, only because we flew stand-by on buddy passes and were at the airport for 6 hours before we got on a plane! So, we didn't end up getting to the resort until around 7PM. Check-in was easy, although........the room we were given was the one in the section the farthest back (the one no one wants, I won't mention it's name ) and on the third floor !!! I asked her very nicely if there wasn't something a lot closer to a pool for my little ones, say like the Grandstand or something not to be specific or anything. This wonderful woman came back with room 8501!!! Couldn't believe it...1st floor, Grandstand, shortest distance in the Grandstand to the main area!!!

Love our studio room. Bed was comfortable. Everything is good.

I can't wait to get to a park today....that's when it will feel like Disney to me!!!

Welcome home! Great that you were able to get the room you really wanted. We'll be there in 19 days and requested that building so wish us luck!

I really think there might be(just my opinion) an effort going on at SSR to get people into the Carousel section.

My daughter and I arrived on the 11th at around 10:30AM and the woman at check-in told us our room wasn't ready but she had found us a nice room that was. When I quizzed her about locations I found out that the room that was not ready was our requested Grandstand room and the room that was ready was at the Carousel. Now, truthfully, my ONLY gripe with the Carousel is that there is no pool. We love to walk around the resort and to Downtown so the location does not faze me. If it were a cool week in February I probably would have taken it. I refused the Carousel room and told her we would wait until the Grandstand room was ready. And within 30 seconds she miraculously found a beautiful ready Grandstand studio. How bout that!

I really don't know why they were pushing the Carousel buildings as the Grandstand building I was in was a dead zone all week. I didn't hear a toilet flush all week. And all you SSR folks know that that's how we can tell how many people are around us.

Maybe they're trying to equalize wear and tear on the resort a litttle? Sorta makes sense if they are.

Could be! Maybe in 7 or 8 years a lot of us will be fighting to stay in the "new" rooms at the Carousel.

Hi Neighbor - we're right next door. We're in the yellow building next to the pool. I love this Grandstand section.

One thing I noticed interesting - the refillable mug station was open all night long even after the pool bar was closed.

the changes made since our last visit at SSR...April '05!

We have our first trip planned in October. I am nervous about the changes we will have to adjust to because we are not staying at our usual POFR. Is there refillable mugs at SSR like at he hotels? I have read about the CS restaurant and the TS restaurant but is there a food court like the other resorts or just the two restaurants? I am also interested to see how the adjustment will be with not having mousekeeping everyday. I like having fresh clean towels everyday on vacation. It is a luxury I don't have at home. I know I could wash them myself but that is not the same. How many towels are in the rooms to begin with?

Did you find it hard to adjust?

Hey Guys, get this. I had made a quik ressie for SS for 6/1-6/5 last week. At work and didn't have time to give requests. Called back today to give requests and they said I had requested Carousel. I told her that I know I didn't make any requests and if I did I would have NEVER requested Carousel. She was very nice and took my request for Congress Park, but it looks like if you make no requests they are putting you in Carousel.
