We checked ito the Polynesian on June 29th and will be here until July 11th :cheer2: .
We got the primo room in Samoa....in my opinion! We have a great view of the lagoon,Grand Floridian and Volcano Pool. Crowds are picking up as the July 4th holiday nears. We've had lots rain but it hasn't slowed us down :umbrella: . We hang out at the pool during the day and go for late night hours at the parks. When we're on vacation, we sleep in.
Our check-in was great, had the most friendly young guy here on the college program. We stayed at the Pop Century the night before we checked in here because we got in so late to Orlando. We checked into the Polynesian about 9 a.m. and went and did other things until our room was ready.
If you have any questions, just ask. I usually get on-line once a day. I sure wish they'd get high speed internet here!
The Polynesian really is a wonderful resort. It is so relaxing. I'm so glad we decided to stay here. I questioned spending this much money, but it is worth every penny just being able to sit back, relax and share these wonderful days with my family and forget about the "very busy lives" we usually lead. No work, chores, practices, appointments, etc. Just sun,fun and Disney :cool1:

Hi there - what are your plans? where are you eating etc...

sorry about the rain ~ just let your smile be your umbrella!

Sounds like you are having a great time! Thanks for keeping us posted! :sunny:

We are staying at the Polynesian in December. I've requested Samoa. Just wondering what room number (or section) you have. I'd love to get the same views. Thanks!

If you get a chance, look around and see which building is being rehabbed now. A lot of us want to know. Thanks!

I am a little jealous - the Poly is my favorite resort. Not in our budget this year, but will still remain my favorite.

oh, please check and see what the renovations look like. If you could possibly get some info on what the schedule looks like also, PLEASE let us know for all those july travelers out there!
POLY HERE WE come!
Thanks,

I am so glad to read this. A bit of R&R is always good for the body and soul. We look forward to your daily and final reports.

Have a Happy 4th of July

Samoa is great isn't it? :sunny: But then I think every longhouse has some advantages.

Has Wyland Galleries moved to the back of the lobby or is it still down the hall beyond Captain Cook's?

Have a wonderful relaxing vacation with your family. :grouphug:

Hope you are having a great time !!! What is going on in the GCH as far as the rehab is going ? Are they doing anything right now ? Any other rehab areas you see please let us know.
Thanks

Hi Cathy,

The Poly is the best place to enjoy time with your family. :sunny: It actually makes me so happy to hear of other families being there, and enjoying their time together. I think part of the reason I love the Poly so much is all of the positive energy that is flowing around the resort! Have a wonderful trip!

I am visiting in August, and like the previous posters, just wondering what the renovation schedule is. Does the GCH look done or are there construction walls still up?

Almost 9:00 pm now. Hope you are on the beach waiting for Wishes and the EWP! :wizard:

OH OH OH < I have a question!! OK maybe a request!! Will you have a Laupa Laupa for me? Toast!! Slainte :cool1:

Oh, lucky you! We love the Polynesian! (check out my sigline, lol)
We'll be back in October hopefully, can you please ask someone when concierge will be opening after rehab? I'm hoping October 10th. Please ask! Oh! and ask when/if they will be getting high speed internet. What are you doing with your laptop? I can't imagine one would fit in a safe there.

Have fun, have a lapu lapu for all of us, and enjoy your stay! Aloha!!

I'll be kicking back at the Polynesian in 3 weeks! I, too, would love to know if you can get any updates on the rehabs. Thanks and enjoy!!! :sunny:

I just got back earlier today. I didn't see anything going on. I walked around the grounds and I didn't see any workers outside. I guess this doesn't help too much cause all the work is inside. If they were working on a building. Is sure is a quiet work.

Hi Cathy!! I was there yesterday!! We just got home today!! We decided to spend a night at the Poly. And I am glad we did!! We fell in love with the Poly! It is a truely beautiful place. Sounds like you guys are having a magical time so far! Keep enjoying your stay!! We're heading back to Poly the first week of August and we can't wait to do Poly again!!

Hi everyone!
Just back from watching the fireworks from the beach. I guess they tested tomorrows July 4th fireworks tonight(that's what the boat driver told us).
There was no monorail or boat service from the Magic Kingdom while the fireworks were going on. Many of the fireworks were shot off from the island in the middle of the lagoon.
I agree with Fantasia......if there are renovations going on around here, I sure don't see them. There is nothing obvious outside. Wyland Gallery is still down the hall from Captain Cooks. The spot where the old gift shop was in the downstairs lobby is still vacant.
We are mainly eating one sitdown meal a day. We bought some snacks at the grocery store and some breakfast stuff like cereal and muffins. We aren't on the dining plan since we have annual passes. I have had some of the tasty drinks from the bar
I have to tell you something we witnessed the first night...we are on the third floor, Volcano pool side and at about 1a.m. I heard kids down by the pool. There was 3 boys, looked like preteen, teen, climbing up the side of the Volcano pool and jumping off into the pool  They were standing right above where the waterfall comes down. I called the front desk(which I understand really isn't the front desk) and by the time they got security out there the kids were out of the pool. :confused3 Very scary.
We had more rain today....but it pours one minute and the sun is out the next. Crowds are everywhere, but we expected that and don't mind.
I have a question...how come Polynesian and Grand Floridian don't share a bus instead of Contemporary and Polynesian? My only real complaint is the time it takes to get to and from Downtown Disney. During the day you have to stop at Typhoon Lagoon, Westside.Contemporary, and during the night you don't have to stop at Typhoon Lagoon, but the busses are packed
Anyway, packed busses or not I LOVE THIS PLACE
Everyone have a safe holiday!
Cathy

I forgot....chamonix...the laptops won't fit in the safe.....I just hide mine in the room and have never had a problem. Like I said. this dial-up is a pain and on my DSL plan I only get 3 hours of dial-up a month so that's why I don't spend too much time online while here.....I have 2 teenage girls with me that have to IM with their friends too :chat:

I'm so jealous...we'll be checking in 2 days after you leave!

Have fun!

Jungle Josh

How is customer service? Can you give us the names of the individuals who are making your stay brighter (or not) and where they work?

:cheer2:

Hi Cathy:

So glad you are enjoying the poly. It is definitely our favorite resort. Have a great holiday.

Deb.
