I totally agree! Can't wait to meet you all in August. The practice cruise seemed exciting, now I can't wait for the REAL one! LOL!

Have fun in Disneyland! ::MickeyMo

I posted on the other thread, but have to post here, too . . .

We have such wonderful memories. I cannot begin to list the things that were special, but I have one small request of those at the late show on Friday night (Goodbye show)

Does anyone have a video of Spencer on stage as the puppet boy? I have a number of folks that told me about pictures (please PM me or I'll email shortly), but I would love a video. I'll laugh forever when I think of his 'right hand having a twitch'. And, 'the look' was so wonderful.

Thanks for such a great time. We enjoyed it all.

Frankly I don't buy it. I think its just winding its way through disney bureaucracy, which can be pretty darn slow some times. From what I was told (And this obviously doesn't mean its true), everything from billing to access points is in place to cover several areas of the ship, it only needs the switch flipped.

The problem with the internet going wireless we were told is the bandwidth. The computers are so slow now and adding the wireless to it would slow it down even more. I think the plan in drydock is to increase that bandwidth capability.

From what I heard on the cruise, I am inclined to agree with tap&dap. I think that Disney will actually come out ahead with the wireless internet since more people will buy the unlimitted package to upload and e-mail photos, videos, ect.
I think that the people who normally buy photos at Shutters will still buy them regardless of wi-fi.

Wow. Viewing all these posts, I get excited about the canal all over again! Those 8 hours really flew by. Started by shivering in the dark at 5:00 and ending in the 90 deg heat. What the pics don't show was that we beat a storm out of the canal. We saw lightning behind us as we cruised under the bridge at Panama City.

A storm in Panama City ? That is a daily occurance. People there don't carry umbrellas or raincoats - you just get wet. It doesn't make much difference, you'll be dry (so to speak) soon after the storm passes. I use to work there and the area just before you get to the locks is a Tropical Rainforest, there is a road you can drive through it on and it is really impressive.

The bridge you went under has one of its tall piers on a island that use to be a US military base. They had a great American Legion Resturant there where you could get lobster real cheap. They also had real native seviche - wow - I think my stomach would die if I tried to eat that stuff today.

I'm on the return trip in Aug. Wish we could stop in Panama it would bring back a lot of memories - but...... there is not much to do these so it actually would be a bore for most people. The biggest attraction is the canal and there is no better way to see it than ride through it.

Did anyone notice if there were any car rental places at Port of Los Angeles. I am thinking about renting at LAX for my stay at Disneyland and than drop off at DCL. All I founf so far is Enterprise and they are not big at one way rentals.

Hi gmalinowski,
Did anyone notice if there were any car rental places at Port of Los Angeles. I am thinking about renting at LAX for my stay at Disneyland and than drop off at DCL. All I founf so far is Enterprise and they are not big at one way rentals.
Hertz will do a one way. We are picking up a SUV at SNA and droping it off at Long Beach Downtown. I called to find out about tranpertation from there to the port. I was told that if they have extra employees, they will drive you to the ship , if not they will deduct $ 10.00 from your fees and call a cab. Plus it is only about 5 miles to the ship. We are dropping of our luguage at 11:00 am and checking out the sights, since I already made our Palo and excurtions.
Quote from My Hertz Confdermation
Pier - Cab fare reimbursed up to $10.00 with
receipt from the San Pedro Cruise Center, LA Pier, Carnival Cruise terminal
and Long Beach Piers.

We were waving away at the lime green balloon crowd from our verandah. (Wish I had turned on my cell phone since Mary Jo called me to tell me she was there.)

Thanks to everyone who came out to wave and take those great pix! All of pictures in this thread are amazing and much appreciated from those of us who were stuck on the ship and couldn't take pictures from your perspective. ;) ;)

I have so much catching up to do. It was truly the trip of a lifetime made all the more special by the wonderful DISers who were with us. Words can't describe how amazing this voyage was. :flower:

Okay...let's see if I can do this right.

The Sailaway Banner that everyone was asking about:

And I have to add in Jeff's bubble machine:

I miss the MAGIC!

Live from the Long Beach, CA airport.

Disneyland is fantastic, but the Memorial Day crowds were a bit much. They've totally outdone my other home in Florida with their fireworks show.

I'm coming back for the 50th on July 17, when the crowds will doubtless be ridiculous.

I have come back missing some money and gaining some pounds, but also gaining experiences. You August cruisers are in for quite a trip. Enjoy it.

when are the pictures going to start getting posted and when will trip reports start comming?
