We checked in yesterday. This is a beautiful resort!!
The rooms are so comfortable. I love the wallpaper in the rooms.
We went to the MK with intentions of staying for the fireworks, but decided to return to the GF because of the crowds. We watched the spectacular firework show from the shore.
If you have any questions, just ask. :D

Cathy Baby,

I have some friends at the Contemporary right now and I was told by someone else that the fireworks go off all around the lake.
Is this true? I told them that and hope that they enjoyed them. I am chomping at the bit wanting to hear from her.

I love the Grand Floridian as well.

Wendi

How are the crowds around the two pools?

How is the food?

Anything special I should look out for in August?

Hope you're having a great vacation!

Cathy baby rn.........I see from your signature that you have stayed at the Grand Floridian before in Boca Chica LV. Is this where you are? Which floor? What were your requests and were they met? What view do you have? Also what is the condition of your room? We just booked our room (LV) there for next year and requested Boca Chica. Its our first time staying there!! Thank you for posting while on vacation!!

Are the hotel's bedspreads available for sale in the gifts shop? I was there a couple of years ago and the salesperson told me they may start making the hotel bedspreads and maybe lamps available for sale. They already offered throw pillows in the Alice in Wonderland fabric and I bought one.

I'm pretty sure the Mickey lamps are for sale - either in one of the gift shops or through WDW merchandising. I think they were $250.

Cathy-
All I can say is I hope you are having a grand time. How are the crowds and line waits?

I'll be there in 3 weeks!! Can't wait!!!!!! I have a lagoon view, Which bldg should i request??
Enjoy your stay!!!

Minster22,

I think that you are making reference to me Wendi. I have the Boca Chica Rooms in my signature. Cathy Baby doesn't.
We love the building. It has the BEST views and is quiet.

Stellax, request Conch Key, or Sago Cay, best Castle Views from there. Did you request Castle View or Lagoon View??

i havent requested anything yet, im just paying for a lagoon view, but when the time comes i will request a castle view...thank you :)

Hi!

Wendi....yes the fireworks were over the Seven Seas Lagoon.
They shot them off from the island in the middle and some from around the perimeter. I was glad we didn't stay in the MK to watch the fireworks.....I don't think any were shot off over the MK....someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Joanna.....the pools aren't really crowded at all. My kids spend most of their time in the big(old) pool because the new pool closes pretty early.

We have only eaten in the Gasparilla Grill and the GF Cafe so far. My kids like to snack alot so the G.Grill was getting pretty expensive, so today I went to Walmart and got some snacks and breadfast food. Walmart was a zoo and 192 was a parking lot. We also stopped at the Premium Outlet Mall (I wanted to go to the Disney Outlet)which was also a zoo....they were having sidewalk sales. Why oh why did I leave Disney property??? As I was driving down 192 I thought about the people who plan a trip to Disney and don't know any better and book a room out by that Walmart. The traffic is horrendous!!

Sorry....couldn't fit any more in that post for some reason.

To finish.......

adrien.....I will check the giftshop to see if they sell the bedspreads, etc. when I to back to the lobby.

We are staying in Big Pine Key with a view of the courtyard pool.
I think it is a perfect location if you don't have a lagoon view. It's close to both pools and the Main Building.
We have seen several wedding parties. In one wedding the flower girls had dresses on that had red, white and blue flag material as the bodice.connected to a white satin skirt. They were perfect for the 4th of July They looked so pretty. I hope one of my 3 daughters will want to get married at WDW someday!!
I better start saving now $$$$$$$$

Let me know if you have any more question. We'll be here until next Saturday.

Cathy

Cathy baby RN,

First off let me say, "WOW"! 9 Days at the GF would be fantastic.
Second of all, Thank You so much for letting me know about the Fireworks. I was wondering. This is my friends 1st trip and I was giving them info from fellow Disers, not that I doubted but you know. Without first hand knowing it to be true, you have to wonder. So Thank You. Finally, Enjoy the rest of your stay. Have a great trip.

No, the bedspreads aren't for sale unfortunately - I wish they were too! They have some of the pillows and the Mickey lamp..

Wendi, thank you for noticing that I was addressing the wrong person. I am so excited because we just booked our rooms and got the Disney logo reservation in the mail....now our dream trip is becoming reality. Any feedback on the condition of the rooms at GF?
