I everyone! We checked in Saturday morning, in the 800 loop, love our site! We requested 815 and were so excited to get it! Great spot, lots of shade and a great view!

It was packed here Saturday, I've never seen it so busy, not an empty spot in the loop. We tried to go to the pool In the afternoon, but it was standing room only, and the water was a little too cloudy for my liking:) so...back to the site to fire up the grill:) after wings, hot dogs, and burgers it was off for some fishing. We only caught seaweed, but had lots of fun.

Sunday we got up early and walked over to the pool, it was great! My son, 7, and husband took off on their bikes after lunch to go explore, and I stayed at the camper while our daughter, 1, napped. What a perfect afternoon! About 15 campers left, everyone else must have been at the parks or pool, for two hours the only sounds I heard were "fort" sounds...it was great! Train whistles and boats off in the distance, pine cones falling from the trees, the occasional squirrels running by, and even 2 beautiful horses klip klopped by. Can't beat it! When the boys returned and the little girl woke up we made some BBQ chicken on the grill then took a walk down to the settlement. I was really looking forward to my very favorite thing....getting a glass of sangria, sitting in a rocking chair, and watching the kids on the playground. But, alas, half of the rocking chairs have been removed! And replaced by (gasp!) high top bar tables! In my opinion they needed more rocking chairs, not less. So, with the only 4 rockers left on the porch now taken up, and the high tops all taken , we walked back.

This morning we took a bike ride to the horse barn to see the beautiful horses and take a pony ride, biked around the 100-400 loops, then it was back for lunch. The boys just took off to the pool for some fun, and it is nap time again for the little girl. It's overcast today, 94 degrees, and only 65%humidity so not bad at all. Gonna try to stay up for the Apple Dumpling Gang tonight. And try to stay away from the dang shops, after a year of the same merchandise, there is new stuff! I'm in BIG trouble! I'll try to post some pics today:) gonna take in the quiet...more to come later!

Sounds pretty busy, glad you're still having a good time.

Thanks for the pics. Site looks good and so does thr insulated mug.

Watching...

Sounds like a great first few days. Looks like people are getting their end of summer trip in before school starts. Next week is the first day back for most of the schools around here.

Have a great time!

Sounds like a great start Stacey! :hyper:

I agree with you that we need more rocking chairs at Trails End, not fewer.

Having never stayed in 800 loop, tell me why you like/requested site 815. There's lots of shady sites. What's special about the view?

Keep up the reporting.

Thanks, Bama Ed

I love that mug! I need one!

Your trip sounds so relaxing! I can't wait for my first visit to the fort. I love wdw, but my trips have been far from relaxing. I'm excited to experience a slower disney pace!

Thanks for sharing!

Great start to any vacation. Thanks for the new merchandise pics. popcorn::

Don't you just love the Fort early in the morning? It is my favorite time. Woke up to the sound of the boats this morning, went out for a walk, came back just in time for the coffee to be done, kids and husband are still asleep while I sit outside and listen to the boat horns and birds:) last night it rained most of the night, got the burgers off the grill just in time, pjs on early and just hung out on the camper. It's nice to go to sleep listening to the rain drops on the canvas.
Today we are planning on the pool early, then maybe renting a water mouse for a while ( anyone else remember when they were called water mice? Last time I asked for one and the guy at the marina looked at me like I was just plain nuts, I had to tell him they used to be called that when I was younger...you know, back when you could swim in bay lake, and River Country was open.)
Ed, Hi! We like 800 loop because it's easy to walk or bike to the settlement and pool, and it's a nice size loop to send our son out to ride his bike around. I also really like it because it backs up to the canal. Last year we were in site 816, and the whole time I kept saying how great I thought 815 was, kinda on the turn so it's easy to back into, nice size, and when you sit outside and look out all you see is trees and the canal. And, right out back are the old railroad tracks. My son says he can hear the "ghost train" at night:) I will try to post some more pics today.
Thanks for following along y'all!

. . . I was really looking forward to my very favorite thing....getting a glass of sangria, sitting in a rocking chair, and watching the kids on the playground. 1) When this happened, even CM's complained.
2) After all, when we go to The Fort, we like this, also.
3) We were told there were too many folks "hibernating" on the porch.
4) They wanted people to drink, then leave, so others can order drinks.
5) It was clearly pointed that the bar makes more revenue with more turnover.
6) So much for the welcoming-inviting-relaxing atmosphere.
7) Profit gets in the way, AGAIN !

Campsite pics look really good. Really appreciate you taking the time to post them.

It is sad to hear about the rocking chairs. Total shame that the words "porch" and "rocking chair" make so much sense to most of us but don't seem to make much sense to bean counters. Tall tables+Porch=STUPID

Keep us up to date as you go.

I see what you mean about that site, it looks like up north Michigan
Great pictures , thanks for sharing.
We were there in July, had site 1112, its next to the cabins, so its a far from everything, but we had plenty of elbow room
We can't wait to come back for Christmas & see all the decorations.

We had another big day yesterday...I biked over to the settlement to pick up some cinnamon rolls and biscuits and gravy for breakfast, got back to the site and sat outside for a while, our son took off on his bike with his new friends. Then it was pool time for a couple of hours. I took the kids down to the settlement playground for a little bit, beside the guys doing construction on the Hoop de Doo building, we were the only ones there. Next my son and I rented a water mouse/sea raycer...we had a blast driving around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. I took some pics of the Poly construction while out there. Brats and hot dogs on the grill for dinner, then we were off to see Chip and Dale for the campfire. Great relaxing day! Today is the sad day....time to pack up:(
