arrived here on sunday, got the 300 loop as requested. saw how tight the back-ins appeared to be but we got in on the first try. not as tight as they look i guess. we like the convenience of just walking down to the settlement area, although Settlement store is closed til mid august!! grrrr....i wasn't too happy about that but we'll just make do and bike to meadows. we are finding that we really don't need a golf cart, afterall, although the sign said they are available still. we never planned on getting one.
i can't say enough how much i love it here. it reminds me SO much of disney's HH Island resort, only it has even more to do, not to mention being across the water from the magic kingdom! everyone is so nice and friendly, very easy to start up a conversation. i enjoy walking the dog, she is loving it too, she's already met some other dogs along the way.
had a little trouble with the cable being very fuzzy and once i couldn't connect to the internet, i knew something had to be wrong. they came out and checked the box outside and something wasn't right, they fixed it and reception got better and modem worked perfect.
getting the hang of the bus system was easy too. we didn't use it too much last time we were here since we had a car but using it alot now. we must be hitting it lucky cause we are hardly waitingn at all for a bus, either here or at the parks.
Can't believe we're here for another week and a half. i just wish i could live here!
i know there are other DISers here, i saw the one lady's site with the pooh light and mickey light but no one was there that i could see. haven't seen too many crazy golf course drivers, worst i saw was someone driving with a small child on their lap letting them steer, yikes. most kids are not wearing bike helmets which surprises me somewhat. my son wouldn't think of riding w/o a helmet! (law in PA).
one thing that scared me, when i picked up the internet kit at check in, i did not take the time to read that SITES pay the fee AS SOON AS THEY PICK UP THE KIT? HUH? but cabins pay starting with first use?(thought sites were this way too). i immediately called check in and DORA told me that no, that is not true but i read it verbatim from the card that was given to me. they specifically have a section for SITES and one for CABINS. Exact wording is as follows: SITES: cost is 9.95 for each 24 hr period starting when modem kit is issued to guest. explain to guest that they will be charged for each day (24 hr period) that the modem kit is in their possession (regardless of whether or not they used it during that time).
anyways, i called and said this was never told to me this way, only that i had to pay the refundable 125 for the kit, which is fine. she said she never heard of this rule and checked my acct. and confirmed i had no charges as of today. i am still a little worried and will dispute any time i am charged for that i did not use.
anyways, all is well at the fort, we love every minute so far.
had to laugh, had pizza at trails end and saw a little baby lizard on the inside window sill. pizza was SOOOO good, btw.
i was afraid i'd miss OKW, but we decided we love it even more here.
