Love love love it...I wasn't too excited about the Contemporary because it always seemed so hectic to me, but I have the best view EVER (and we've had some good ones before!). I can see the Poly, the GF, the bay, and MK. Last night the Castle was stunning, covered in icicles! And this floor...so private, so classy...the bed was SO comfortable. The balcony is huge, I am so thrilled to be here. I am incredibly impressed, and I've stayed almost everywhere at Disney World...this view is TOP.

Right now I am writing on the inroom computer, the test pilot program going on here, so far I'm pretty happy with it. I like internet for free, especially. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll check back later after our Keys to the Kingdom tour!

Thanks for the report, dicecatt!
My question is, are you impressed enough to choose this again over your other resort stays?

Oh, I have the chills from your report.:cloud9: It sounds so wonderful. The castle is beautiful during the day but at night it is just simply magical. Have a fabulous time.:wizard:
PS I was just telling my DH and he sounds like he is interested. If you get a chance, please tell a little bit more about the CL. Thanks for your time.

If you've been to Chef Mickey's :mickeyjum How's the food been?

Grannieminnie, that is a hard question to answer...each resort has so much to offer. But I am seriously tempted to book this spot again, there is an offer to book again anywhere at Disney for 30-40% off if you book before you check out. I hadn't been planning another trip, but this spot is fabulous...I've stayed at GF, Poly twice, WL, AKL, BWI, Yacht Club...all have a ton to offer, but I think I am leaning towards this spot again...

CoachBagfan and twinnybelles, Club level is very nice. Compared to other club levels, it is one of the nicest lounges. The 14th floor lounge isn't that big...I'm sure the 12th floor lounge is bigger. There just aren't that many people on this floor. But I love the decor, there are cool looking green couches, and a huge balcony, so if you aren't lucky enough to get an MK view, you can sit on the balcony at the lounge. The food is pretty good, same kitchen as Cali grill. Last night there were steak kabobs and little mini crab cakes, tonight there is steak flatbread and also some type of brushetta. Both nights there was a cheese plate with cheddar, brie, and a few others, really good rolls, several spreads, fruit, veggies, beer, wine, juice, soda, teas...Pretty good. We are trying not to eat too much because we are dining at Narcoossee's at 7!

There has not been any notable holiday deocrations here. I haven't noticed them on the 4th floor or lobby, and they are not in the Club lounge. The rooms are fantastic, I love the decor, the room is very clean and the bed is comfortable. Chef Mickey's...Not this time, but we ate there in September for the 2nd time and it was great as usual.

Gift shops...we have walked through one of them, but...there is still a big spot on the 4th floor in the middle that is blocked off, and when you look down from the monorail it looks to be shelves and such...so, nothing is really settled. The stores there are good, but typical to all of the hotels, not really that much too special except a few Contemporary items.

Can't do pics yet, but I will when I get home next week. I can tell you that I got the most magnificent fireworks pictures from MVMCP last night...the Castle is simply BEAUTIFUL!!!

Thanks for you're live trip report and I hope you and you're family are having a lot of fun at WDW and the Contemporary. :thumbsup2

Loving your live report! If you don't mind, after you've arrived home, would you share your room # -- I'd like to look on the map and see what your fabulous location is! :goodvibes

Just want to clarify - the 30-40% off rate is only for standard rooms; you cannot get it for CL rooms or anything with a view. We were just at AKL And I read the fine print since it seemed like such a good deal.

But, I agree the 14th floor is fabulous!!

I forgot to say you are correct that the 12th floor lounge is bigger and they were able to make it big by eliminating two or three rooms on the 12th floor when they were being renovated back in 2006.

If that is the case, I'll hold off...I have no desire to book a standard room. Perhaps I'll call and just see what happens...we all know what can happen when you have a code with Disney, right?! Mass confusion...so you never know. If they can't offer a discount on what I want, then there is no reason to book again at this point...I'll hold off.

I thought it was weird that I had to request turn down service...it is automatic in the other club levels that I've stayed at. No turn down on Friday so I asked about it on Saturday and was told yes, it has to be requested. Thought that was odd.

Last night we had a fantastic dinner at Narcoosee's and saw the fireworks on the boat from GF to Poly to MK. Spent a couple of hours in MK then left during 2nd Spectro, watching the parade as we walked out. I've never seen the castle look so gorgeous...it is just stunning at night right now.

Oh, and I've looked around more, I see NO Christmas decorations at CR. At GF the gingerbread house is fantastic. Today I think we'll go to the Poly to rent a sailboat, so I'll check out the lobby there. If you pick a resort for holiday decor, CR is not the resort to go with...but I am loving my stay. I'll stay here again for sure.

As far as room numbers, I'll give it out after we leave...however, there are only 2 King bed rooms on the 14th floor and both of them face the MK. There are only 5 regular rooms total on this floor, the rest are suites. I'm dying to see a suite, that might happen later, I think they are going to show me one!

I went out this morning to take some pictures...as pretty as the Bay view is, I would not stay here without MK view...LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Best view I've ever had...honestly. The view everyone wants from Cali Grill? I have it...I am right below the restaurant in the middle of the floor, with a HUGE balcony (seriously, I could have a small party out there). I can't wait to post pics, I can't on this room computer but I will on Tuesday when I'm back at work.

Dicecatt, how was your Keys to the Kingdom tour? Would you do it again? Your room sounds fantastic and I know that the view must be to die for. Have a great trip!

The decorations at CR have always been a lot more understated than the other resorts, and I'm sure part of the hold up is the construction that's been going on. If the shop on the 4th floor is supposed to open next week, that should wrap up construction on the 4th floor until next May, so there may be some decorations out then. They used to just put up a lot of wreaths and smaller trees on the lobby level, second floor, and 4th floor.

How disruptive is the construction? Is it taking away from the feel of the resort at all? Is it noisy?

Keys to the Kingdom tour...loved it...worth it. So informative, and even though it is really long the guide kept my attention! Any Disney lover should do the tour. I'm not sure if there was an age limit, but it is NOT for kids...

Construction...not bothering me. We are smack in the middle of the hotel, so I can't really even see the cranes outside. You can see it by the pools and when you are on that side of the hotel, but I haven't heard a peep. I doubt unless you are right on top of it that you can hear it at all. The construction on the 4th floor could get irritating...it is much more crowded, therefore the masses of people around meal times might get old.

As far as crowds go...Friday night's MVMCP was pretty packed, especially early on. Yesterday...wait for HM was 45 minutes at one point when we were there in the middle of the Keys to the Kingdom tour. However, last night when we went back after dinner around 9, waits were very low...5 minutes for Pirates and Splash. Today LOOKED more crowded but we didn't go inside so it is hard to tell. This is just for MK, we haven't been to another park this trip.

We went sailing today and then played golf...saw a gator, it was very exciting. We even got video! We were so enthralled that it got too dark to play the last 3 holes :rolleyes1

So, the message that I received on the vacation offer is now not in my Disney inbox, so...not sure where it went and I don't think I remember the code correctly OOPS. One thing that is getting on my nerves a little is turn down service...Friday night it wasn't done. So we called Housekeeping yesterday, they told us we had to request it (not at any other club levels we haven't!) So I requested it. They did it last night. Now, they haven't done it again...I asked the Club staff member, she said it should be automatic on this floor and we do not have to ask for it.:confused3 :confused3 So...yeah...not that turn down is a big deal, but this floor is expensive, and gosh darnit, I want turn down! :confused3

At least the 14th floor does not look down onto the 4th floor, the way all the other floors in the Tower do. So up there is the only place where you would not hear construction of the new store, noise from Chef Mickey's and everyone else walking around.

Okay, we are back! Room # was 4912. I did hear a lot of construction when we were on the 4th floor on Monday about to depart. LOUD. But it appears that they are almost finished with the shop.

That bounceback offer? WAS NOT just for standard rooms. I got 2 different offers while there for 3 nights...I did end up booking a weekend in January but might not go. There wasn't a whole lot available, but the discounts even applied to suites.

So, who is ready for some pictures???
