Well, this isn't the trip I planned: my son's in isolation. We had a wonderful first night on board. Our servers are Adrian and Ivan -- fantastic! Great first meal and a relaxing evening in Sessions. On Sunday, it all fell apart. My son got sick in Key West. We went to the Medical Center where they gave us pedialyte and sports drinks. That night he developed a high fever. We went back to the doctor on Monday morning. He was so dehydrated that he had 6 hours of IV fluids. He's better know, but he can't leave the room unitl Wed. AM (48 hours after last "event").

DCL has been wonderful supplying us with games, toys, food, etc. It helps that we're in a Cat. 3. At least we have a lot of room and access to the balcony for fresh air.

If you have to be in isolation, DCL is the way to go!

Hope to give more updates when we finally get out of the cabin and do something! :D

So sorry that your son is sick. I hope no one else in your group (or anyone!) you've already had to deal with one in isolation. It sounds like you have a pretty good attitude about the situation, because what can you do? It sounds like DCL is helping you out. I know it's not what you planned, but I hope you are enjoying what you can and that after Weds. all will be well!

Oh I'm sorry that your son got sick. You have such a great attitude about it, keep it up. Atleast he will be out of isolation by the time you hit CC!!! Have fun.

Budwmn,
I really hope that DS is doing much better by the time you read this.

Here's a little magic to make it all better... :wizard:

You know my heart goes out to you.

Keep us posted on his condition...

I am sorry that your son is sick. I hope he has a speedy recovery. On a lighter note, we had Adrian and Ivan last week as our serving team.

Hi everyone.....

Bud sorry about your son...but hopefully he can come "out" today...

We are docked in Cozumel, just finished breakfast at Topsiders.

We are having a great time. The weather has been fantastic, the water calm as it can be. The ship is beautiful, the people are very interesting. Jim and I were just watching people drinking beer at 930 in the am!!!! Lots of people got badly sunburned yesterday in GC.

We had brunch at Palo....it is unbelievable and no way to really describe it...except we were there for 2 1/2 hours!!!! Then we had dinner there last night and again....2 1/2 hours.

At our DIS Meet we had Linda Babe, lbgraves, Sue, myself, Emily, and hosted by Flexsmom....we all had a great time talking and it was over too soon.

Jim and Natalie saw National Treasure, Jim and I saw Ladder 49 and Jim saw The Village. Princess Diaries is also playing, and Mr. 3000. That's all I can think of now....

Tonight is Pirates night, should be interesting. We are doing Palo again on Friday and maybe brunch again on Thursday......

More later if we have time.....too much shopping to do, too much eating to do, too much wine to drink!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I would love to get badly sunburned in GC right now!!!!!!!!!!!230 days to go!!!!!!!! :guilty:

Yeah...can't wait to get a sunburn in 184 days!

Hi everyone...

Don't know if Bud's son got out of iso or not....but.....

We are having a great time.

We are cruisin' toward Castaway Cay tomorrow. The sea is calm and beautiful. Cozumel was great...very HOT...just shopped til we dropped!!!

Pirates party was fantastic!!!! I was not crazy about the menu..but that was just me...we were having room service not long after dinner!!!! Fireworks were shot off Deck 10 aft and they were FANTASTIC....more on all of this later.

Had characater breakfat this morning and just finished a lovely lunch in Lumiere's, one of our servers from last year brought Natalie a HUGE banana split...so we had that for dessert....and semi formal night tonight in Animators....LOBSTER night......yum yum....

Gotta run....time for the galley tour and that dreaded BINGO......lol

Wow, Pirate night is amazing!!!! pirate:

The show was wonderful and the fireworks beat expectations. The dinner menu was a winner, too.

Seas are calm-- 80 degrees and sunny. It's Disney Dreams night, but I've seen it several times and am off to National Treasure instead. Last night's movie in the Walt Disney Theater was The Incredibles.

I've taken a few cruises on the Wonder, but this is my first time on the Magic. Even with my son's illness at the beginning, I have to say it's the best cruise yet.

DisneyFan37 -- Dont' worry, the ship looks great! You're going to have a blast! :boat:

and lots of sunshine - although last night during the deck party, a little cloud did pass over and drop some rain - I don't think the dancers noticed it at all. The pirate party was not my favorite - there was a lot of loud phoney pirate talk, but everyone appeared to be having fun. Then there was a dessert buffet that was lovely to start with but soon looked like the locusts had been there (including LindaBabeLocust :D )

The pirate menu looked interesting but count me among those who were eating soon thereafter - I had a hot dog from Plutos and it tasted fantastic!

I think we might have left someone in Cozumel - they broadcast several names, and then a pair of names again, and we didn't pull away from the dock until almost half an hour after scheduled time.

We took a taxi to a beach N --- something or other - out past Chakenaab, cost $15 each way - beach was beautiful - they also had a pool, bar, restaraunt and service on the beach. Wave runners, parasailing etc although we didn't try any of it. Then we went back and shopped in Punta Lagosta mall for a little while. Not into jewelry, so didn't buy much.

We had brunch today in Palo. It was Extraordinary. One of the best parts of Palo is our servver - AnnieMarie from South Africa. That girl is so wonderful - combination of bright bubbly intelligent and reassuring, She was able to find something that pleased even our picky eater.

Time for dessert buffet. gotta go!

I don't know if I've posted my question yet. If you have a digital camera, I hope you took pictures. I'm dying to see the ship all decked out. Hope you will post your album when you return! ;)

Phyllis,

How were you able to get so many Palo reservations? We were on the same cruise as you and we did not get to go to Palo brunch at all! It seemed that all brunch and dinner reservations were completely booked when we arrived at port.

Sorry to hear that your DS got sick so early, Bud! DD's allergies were acting up a bit midweek & she woke up around 2 am Friday night with a fever. I gave her motrin & that seemed to keep it under control. She stayed in the stroller for breakfast the last morning & slept most of our drive to SC. The UC clinic checked her out this afternoon & she is getting over a virus. Jhalkas's DD was coughing Saturday morning too. Sounds like she was much luckier than your DS.

Our cruise started out with a bang since DS was chosen to start the sail away party by pushing the button to start the music. He received a nice certificate for a Magical Moment and a cute snowglobe with Mickey & friends. I think that he beamed for the entire week after that. LOL!

The fireworks were amazing like others have said!!! Palo was superb!!! Our first time there since DD wouldn't go in the club last cruise & we ended up having dinner Sunday night at a table next to Sue & brunch next to Carol. It was great to finally meet up with so many DISers at Carol's stateroom. Thanks again for hosting that! It seemed that we ran into each other ALL the time after Monday afternoon! LOL!

CanadianCruiser2, not sure when you arrived at the port but when we boarded the ship I was able to get any Palo resi that I wanted at that time. There were only 2 people in front of me for dinner Sunday night & one for brunch. I then went & pleaded to have our server from last cruise again & thanks to McClean we were with Rudy and Marco (who use to work in Palo before he took a long vacation.) We were very glad to see him again since he will be leaving DCL in another 2 months when his contract is up. We were treated very well by Sasha at Palo dinner and Gemma at brunch. There seems to be something in the air with babies on the ship. Our stateroom host Don from last cruise was around the corner and found out this week that he is going to be a daddy. Our last head server Nadege is pregnant and was leaving the ship today to return home to France and Sasha bragged about his little girl at home and the two little girls expected in a few months.

The Golden Mickeys was definantly worth the wait and we really enjoyed Dreams. The Ann Marie last year had a rather high pitched voice and the one this year was much more enjoyable. The new opening & closing shows were great as well. I really liked the new kid final show movie. I still tear up at the last one though. This one was cute but no tears.

We took tons of pictures and have uploaded them to our computer...2 512 cards & some more on a 256. There are a few rolls of 35 mm too. LOL! The ship is BEAUTIFUL!!!

The best part was surprising DH with the SPH that I booked 2 months ago for the 12/17/05 sailing!!! The kids are already missing Jhalkais' DD and are looking forward to cruising with them again next year.

Now, on to the mounds of laundry.

Canada....I had the same luck that Lisa did. As soon as we boarded, DH and DD went to Parrot Cay and I went directly to RBD....I just walked in, looked at the board.. picked my dinner night and PJ suggested Sunday brunch. There were plenty of days and times left at that point. Then when we left brunch on Sunday I stopped by the desk and Jemma set us up for Friday night...it was very late...but that was ok with us. We did not do brunch again...we just thought it was too much for us.

Did you ask for a particular night??? Or a particular time????That may have had something to do with it. I would have taken any night and any brunch day that was available. I know if you have small children it's not easy to do that, but since ours is old enough to be on her own...it works for us.
