Hi Everyone,

Well, we are under-way. The weather is pretty cold and the boat is swaying side to side a little, but the sail away party was great. So far janone and I have met Debbiebones and her wonderful family. We met them outside the terminal first thing this am. Our party of 4 was 3rd in line to board. Very exciting!! Looked through the terminal twice for MelissaE1 and her colorful bag but did not see her.

Really hope it warms up soon. We left Boston yesterday and it was 10 degrees, we had expected Florida to be a little warmer.

New soda program, you buy the mug and get a sticker on your KTTWC also. I guess DCL pays attention to this board. Makes it much easier than carrying that mug around all the time.

Hot tub was great this afternoon. The quiet cove pool had some problems earlier. They had drained it and filled it but it looked like swamp water so they were re-filling it at 3 p.m. Too cold to swim anyway:mad:

Buffet is still being served by the crew. It works out better in my opinion anyway. Some people forget and try to serve themselves, but the crew is very gracious and does everything nicely.

I will check in tomorrow...between dis meet and spa appt. If any one has any questions, I will try to answer. We don't have little ones with us so I won't have any info about kid's clubs etc.

Nancy

Interesting information on the new mug program. So, if you forget your mug, you show your Key to the World Card with sticker and you get a plastic glass of soda. Is that right? If so, I like it!!!

Have fun on your sea days.

Thanks.
Tina :)

Nancy,
Since you are on the ship and sending out messages, I'm sure you can answer this quick question for me. Will I need to bring my laptop onboard, or do you have to use onboard computers in the Internet Cafe? I've never cruised before, and I would like to keep in contact with family back home while we are on our cruise.:jester:
Thanks for your help and have a safe and happy cruise!!!

Apwalters, I can answer that. :) There is an itnernet cafe onboard the ship adjacent to the Promenade Lounge on Deck 3. You can sign up for unlimited usage or pay 75 cents per minute if you prefer.

You won't be able to use your laptop for internet access on the ship at all.

Thanks for the report 4cruisin, hope it warms up and you have a magical cruise! :)

4cruisin ~
Thanx for checking in. Wishing you have a fabalous cruise! Hopefully the weather will warm up as you head south. If you see any of those delicious green 'Madori Calada' drinks floating around, have one for me! ;) It is a miserable 20* here!

Thanks Michelle, that's one less thing I have to worry about carrying onboard.:D

Hey thanks for sharing your cruise with us! Let us know when the weather heats up! Have a great cruise and tell us anything great that is happening on the ship this week!

Cheer up...the weather in the Caribbean is in the 80's this week so you'll be fine.

If you meet a couple named Laurie and Johnny (JLMCANTWAIT) from Mass, please tell her that Lori from Jersey says Hi and have a really good time..

Today's update from the Magic:

Tina, Michelle is correct. Laptop will not get you internet access, you must use the internet cafe and pay the charges.

lruggeiro, we should meet Laurie today at the dis meet. She lives about 20 minutes away from us in MA, and we have been corresponding on the 1/25 thread. Will give her your message.

Seas are 4-8 feet, boat is still swaying pretty heavily. but I'm sure it will warm up as we get closer to St. Maarten.
Temp now is about 70 degrees with a gusty wind.

Dueling pianos was fantastic last night. Jeff and Fidelio are hysterical. They are hosting a superbowl party tonite, should be a lot of fun.
:bounce:

Dave from Marietta: picking up the navigators for you. Our server would not let me have the Lumieres menu last night. She said they are already running short. I was not too happy with her answer, but did not want to make an enemy on the first night.
We are off to Palo's tonight.

4Nana, no signs of illness yet, so no news of any quarantines(sp).

Nancy

Darn.

:p
I agree, love hearing news reports from someone that is on the ship. I shared your report with my DW and DD 12, and they got a kick out of reading it.:p

I went through the forum the other night and read Dave_from_Marietta lives from the ship reports, it took me over an hour to read all the messages, but it was great!!!:bounce:

Can't wait to hear more about your cruise.

Hi Nancy............... hope you have a wonderful trip. I hear the Caribbean is still very warm, so dont worry. Leave us SOME food for next week aboard!!! And if you come across Gemma from England (Server) : please send our love, and tell her to tidy her cabin, as Mum and Dad will be "inspecting it" next weekend, when we board for 2 weeks. Have a great week............. I was wishing this week to go quick for us, but then you will be disembarking!!! So I will hope the week goes S L O W......... just for you!Best wishes. Nat

Have a great cruise and thanks for the updates. If it makes you feel any better it is snowing yet again here in MA. this is the worst winter I can recall in years. Have a wonderful time! Ann

I believe one of our friends - CHEESEPLEASE, Dave & Eellen and their son and daughter are there with you ..... Tell them I said HI.

A little more on them serving you at the buffet? Is that still cause of the illness or are they trying to cut back on wasted food?

Is the soda program still $35 for the 7 day cruise?

Have Fun and enjoy the warm weather.

I echo @Goofynut: If you see our friend, Cheeseplease and his lovely wife, please give them our best regards.

A happy and fun voyage for all of you!!

Hi Everyone,

Another update:
The weather is getting warmer, but, it rained today and the ship was rocking so much, they actually closed the adult pool. The water was sloshing around pretty badly because of the gusty winds. They had to cancel some of the outside activities and made up by adding additional indoor activities.
Played bingo this a.m. and won a massage gift certificate!!:p

Had Gabriela as our server at Palo, she is a sweetheart! Food was very good.

Met a few more diser's at the meet today. Have not met Laurie(jlmcantwait) but hope to see her before long.

Natdencro, have not seen your daughter but will keep my eyes open.

The soda program is still $35 for the week. You don't even have to "forget" to bring your mug...just show the server the sticker on your card and they give you a glass (or plastic) soda. Much easier!!

They are still paying close attention to any signs of illness. My sister took a nap before dinner and when she left the room, she forgot to take the privacy card off the door. When we came back from Palo, the steward asked if someone was sick... and questioned why the privacy sign had been on the door for so long.

I guess they are still freaked out a little bit. Understandable as long as they don't get totally paranoid.

Will post again tomorrow. Wish us better weather.;)

Nancy

Sorry I missed answering a couple of questions. We are in a category 6 room adjoining with my dsis and dbil. Nice balcony, split bath etc. Port side. Beverage cooler keeping the soda and water cold enough. The ship is full, lots of kids too. Kind of surprised since it is not a school vacation week. I swear that everyone we talk to comes from Minnesota!!! They keep saying they had to go someplace warm as MN is freezing. (So isn't Boston!!)

Buffets are still being served probably because of the recent outbreak. I still see kids touching the ice sculptures, licking their fingers and then the next kid does the same thing so I guess there will always be some risk. Even some of the adults keep trying to reach for food or serve themselves. I like the idea of the buffet being 'served' by the staff. Much more orderly. The quiet cove hot tub had a TON of chlorine in it. I actually had to get out of it because the smell was making it hard to breathe. I think that is also to help keep the spread of germs down.

Nancy

WE had a great time.
We had heard of only a few people getting ill and they quarentine you lickety split to be safe.

After 72 hours on the ship they ease up on the buffet lines and allow you to server your self as well as get your own drinks from the beverage station on Deck 9.

I think it is great they have opted for a sticker instead of having to have your mug on a rope to get your " all you can drink soda"

I hope it is warmer for you as you head in to St Martin. Try ht e Indian food in town it is the best. ( its on the main street upstairs across fron the Barclay bank.) Have a great time! Do see Hercules and Disney Dreams!!!

Be aware... Its get very cold after you leave Castaway Cay on the top decks til you reach Port Canaveral

 chuckncole,
Thanks for the tips!!!
