Live From Old Key West!!!!!

Great trip report, it's so nice to hear good, positive things about my favorite resort!
Enjoy the rest of your magical time away from home!

Great, to hear about the rooms. We are staying there in Nov. and I was a little scared we haven't been to OKW since 2000. we are staying in the DLX Studio near HospHouse, not sure where that is will all the rooms be done by Nov.?

Thank You

Thank you for posting. I have been enjoying reading about your trip so far. Please keep us posted.

Have a blast - we are looking forward to October vacation (staying at AKV this time) and reading posts like yours gets us excited for our upcoming trip. We stayed at OKW twice recently, and loved the spacious two bedroom we had. We brought family and it was the perfect resort, and what a great value compared to the others. We really enjoyed staying at OKW

try this!

Oh, it didn't work. You need to upload your photos to another website, like photobucket.com, and then on your post you will copy the link for the photo (the image code) and paste it.

Would love to see some photos.

Happy Anniversary and Birthday to your DD. Thanks for the report.

Thanks you so much for checking this out for me! I had emailed Member Services last week and never got a response so since we are leaving tomorrow and flying out of BWI (SW) on Thurs. a.m. this is really a big relief. Didn't relish having to drag my luggage on ME, etc. How fast we get spoiled!

Glad to hear you are having a good time. Thanks again and keep cool and hydrated!

Reading your report is increasing the excitement around here for our upcoming trip. We'll be coming to WDW in 11 days! :cool1: We will be staying with my sister's family at OKW in a GV. Do you know if there is an iHouse for an iPod in the rooms at OKW? I think my niece said there was one at BLT? It will be 1 less thing to pack if there is one there. Have a good time. Thanks for any information!

Hi Again, It's fun to hear from all of you while we are hear too! Thanks for all the good wishes for a magical trip...that it is!!! Got to DHS at 8:30 am. Loved the little preshow at the rope drop! DD and DF ran to TOT and R&R while DH and I went up to Toy Story Mania (VERY GOOD NAME FOR IT). It was insane! WE got 4 fast passes and then rode with a 10 minute wait. By the time the girls got to us, it was time for the fast passes and they were able to ride it twice! SCORE...the standby wait time was 65 minutes before 9:20!!!!!! Then we went back and got 4 fast passes for R&R and went to see the power rangers since they leave DHS this weekend FOREVER... Then off to American Idol which was super fun! We did the drawing class at animation TWICE...it was a blast and we drew Pooh and Dale and got some great laughs over our "artistic abilities"! The girls rode r&r twice more, we had lunch at ABC comm., did star tours, saw HS musical 3 show, part of street party bash and had our longest wait of the day waiting for the OKW bus to come back for a break. It was 103 degrees waiting for the bus and I thought we might melt, but with the frozen washclothes, neck coolers, mini fans and frozen water bottles we survived the first part of the day! I came back and filled the hottub with cold water and sat in it for 30 minutes , LOL!

The only drawback I see to this "summer thing" is it's really toooooooo hot to go to the pool. DH went to the pool and stayed in the water during a rain shower...thunder in the distance only...he said it was almost refreshing but not quite!

We are headed back to the studios for TOT, and star tours which we collected fp for and will plan to see the summer rock and glow party and mulch, sweat and shears...will report on those later!!!!

Oh, and yes there are i homes in both the studio and the 1 bedroom unit (we have a 2 bedroom lockoff!

Enjoying your report....also glad to hear that SWA RAC is up and running! Your TR is getting us geared up for our first OKW in 12 days....:cool1:

Hope the rest of your trip is terrific :thumbsup2....but what do you mean it's too hot to go in the pool?

Thank you for the information on the ihomes. :) Just wondering, how does the frozen wash cloth idea work? Sounds like a good idea. My niece is in a wheel chair, and we are concerned she will get very hot very fast. Hope you are having the best time - and staying comfortable, too.

RLRDA - We will be visiting WDW and OKW with my sister and family from RI at the same time you will be there. We know we will be either by the HH or down by the path to DTD (locations of the handicapped accessible GV's).

Our reservation is for a 1BR near HH so we will probably cross paths if your GV is near HH! We are definitely at the pool every afternoon :sunny:. Look for the adults with the frozen beverages with 3 boys refusing to put on sunscreen!

The frozen wash cloth does sound like a good idea. cindyf....did you just wet the wash cloth and freeze it in a zipped baggie?

Thanks for the great report from OKW...Question about the Rehab, you said they are working on buildings 49 and 50, do you or any of the readers here know if they go according to building numbers?
We will be down there the last week of September for our daughter's wedding at Epcot, we have rented a GV a 2 bedroom, and a 1 bedroom, I have requested building 53(South Point Rd)it has according my info the GV,and the 1 and 2 bedroom, and other things that we were wanting, seclusion, close to private pool, busstop etc, and it sits right on a green for my golf loving 82 yr old dad...
Thanks for any info..
Have a Magical Trip..we cannot wait..56 days till she gets married!!

You are getting me so excited for our first trip to OKW in 19 days!! Does anyone know if any of the buildings near HH have been refurbed yet? I'd like to have a refurbed room so we have the sleeper chair for ds. There will be 8 of us and I'd like older ds and my sister to have their own beds. That means 2 in the other queen, 1 on an air mattress in our room and hopefully the sleeper chair.

Good morning fellow Disney Freaks! We are up at 6am to get to AK for EMH...
the girls are dragging a tad and the gives me a couple extra magic minutes for DISBOARDS!

NOt sure if the rehab is going in order but I know they did the 30's and 40's in Turtle pond area and then moved to South Point!

The Frozen washcloth is THE BEST. Just wet the washcloth (I use dasani bottled water cuz I hate the smell of the tap water(LOL, water snob). Then gently wring it out and put in small zip bag and throw in the freezer. Put it in your backpack and when you think you can't stand another minute of the heat, pull out that washcloth and you've got Disney Magic!!!!!!!!

I also HIGHLY recommend the O2Cool mini misting fans (got ours at Cabelas). They have worked wonders for all of us!

Okay...off to the AK. Early Safari!

They appear to be doing interior rehabs in the same order they did exterior ones. That means the villas across from HH (11-14) will be second to the last, and 62-64 will be the last ones done.
