Live from OKW.....................

We arrived this morning (Sunday) at approx 10:30 AM. Wow, what a long line to check in. Very friendly castmembers. They were handing out balloons to all the kids to keep them occupied. Good idea. We checked in and our room was not ready. I asked about anything that met our requirements - non smoking, dedicated 2 BD and if possible top flool. The room the had assigned us was on the 2nd floor so with a bit of checking they found us a top floor room that WAS ready now!!! We took it immediately. Was I ever happy. I never imagined a room ready at that time of day. Unpacked, headed to Hooters for lunch and then to the grocery store for supplies. The kids wanted to go to Winn Dixie since they had seen the movie recently. After that a nice dip in the main pool. Boy that slide goes fast. A bit to fast for me but the kids and DH loved it. We even stayed swimming through the downpour of rain. Back to the room for a delicious dinner of salmon, salad and watermelon (yes I cook most of our dinners while here) Saved us a forutne and allows us to do other fun things. We are in Turtle Pond area building 33. Is anyone else staying here now? We are off to hit Downtown Disney tonight and then to bed so we can rise and shine early and hit the parks. Any questions?

I just so happen to have the Hank's Happenings schedule right here. This is this weeks schedule - not sure how often they change. The UnBirthday party is scheduled for Tuesday at 3 PM. There is a limit of 20 kids ages 5 - 12 and it does not list a cost. There is also a pool party, Woodsie craft $5.00, puzzle photo frame, t-shirt decorating ($10.00 members), nature frames ($4.00 members), bingo, Kids fishing trip (one hour $30.00), family treasure hunt, rainstick craft and pool games.

I do have the Disney Visa and plan to hit Epcot probably on Tuesday or Wed. We will do the photo and I will report back on how it went.

The kids are 7- girl and 9- boy. They enjoyed the food. Had a few comments on the decor and the uniforms. We really enjoy trying new places while on vacation and had never been here. The food was not bad either. Decent kids meals.

We checked in at about the same time on a Sunday morning last month, and found it to be very crowded as well. It was like that all morning and most of the afternoon. But they did a pretty good job of keeping the line moving along.

We are still having a great time. Hit MGM yesterday. Arrived early and went to the Rockin Rollercoaster immediately. Our first time on it as the kids have always been afraid. It was nice. Not sure if I could ride it twice in a row but I survived. The park was packed but we did manage to do most of everything we wanted to do. Saw Lights, Action, Motors. Good show. We had lunch at Mama Melrose (made a AR that morning at 10 AM for 1:50PM) I would not eat there again. They are overpriced for the portions you receive. I did enjoy the food but we all went our hungry - even the kids and we ordered an appetizer too. At least we were able to use a DVC discount. That helped a bit. Our waitress was a bit of a snot too. The manager came over seeing that I was upset and offered to make it up to us but I said no. The food did taste great it was just the portions that were to small. Maybe that is how they stay so skinny in Italy! I ordered a Chicken Ceasar Salad and didn't realize I had to cut my lettuce myself! It arrived in two big pieces right from the Romain Lettuce heads. Its hard to cut lettuce and eat a salad from a flat plate.
Did the Member party tonight. Tomorrow we will try MK and then we have a lunch seating at Whispering Canyons - the kids first time there!

The kids will love WC! Great family atmosphere. I agree with you in MM. The food did not taste good to me and the service was mediocre. I went there once and that was enough.

We always rent a car so I have never used bell services. We have actually only been to the front area once when we checked in. Since we cook/east breakfast in the room and dinner too we don't venture to Olivias or the store there.

Later on we decided to go on Sunday and how I neglected to add that night is beyond me! I'm biting my nails to call MS tomorrow morning to try to add that first night.....somewhere....but hopefully at OKW!

I don't have much to compare it to. Our building seems empty - I am sure it is not but I have not seen anyone else entering or leaving their building. It is so quiet here - I love it. The check in was the worst of the corwd at the resort. We have been to the main pool once and the quiet pool a few times. Neither were very crowded - not like what we expected for July. I hope you have great success tomorrow morning with adding one more day.

Thank you for the quick reply! My DH is laughing at me because I'm such the compulsive planner.....and how I could have let this happen is absurd! Oh well, I'm sure we won't end up sleeping in the rental car, so it's not going to be the end of the world if it doesn't work, but it sure would be nice to be settled!

It sounds like you are having a great time! Thanks for the updates and info while there! We tried Olivia's once while we were there (on check out morning for breakfast) and I found it to be reasonably priced (by WDW standards) and we got excellent service. Not sure about the dinner menu, but I do like having the occasional breakfast out while on vacation.

Thank goodness for memory loss! Evidently I had called within days of making the initial reservations and had added Sunday night on points, but DVC didn't mail me an updated confirmation. I think the CM I talked to must have thought I was nuts for being so grateful and gushy with him when he gave me the news! The sad part is that I was more upset about "how could I have forgotten to do that" - wounded pride in failing to properly plan - than I was about having to shell out for an extra night somewhere if OKW wasn't available? Mixed up priorities, anyone!
