Completed the 23hr 45 minute marathon trip from Northern Michigan to Orlando on Saturday evening and proceeded to find a reasonable hotel off property. As luck would have it I was able to call Central Reservations and obtain a room @ CB with a AP discount for less than the local Hampton Inn on the same night we arrived in town. My DW and I have fond memories of CB because we spent 3 days there on our honeymoon one day short of exactly 8 years ago. That was bonus #1 for our trip.
Bonus#2
As we ventured back to our room from the food court I received a call on my cellphone from a CM asking if it would OK if she upgrade us from Std view to Savanna view one floor above where DM had requested. It took all of 3 seconds to respond to CM "well if you need to upgrade us I think I could live with that". Traveling with 3 small children this was a pretty cool deal to say the least. I know this sort of situation does not happen that often with DVC, but I am thankful even more so because, we are celebrating 3 birthdays and 1 anniversary this trip and it all adds to "magic" that is Disney.
Check-in day:
Up early, eat breakfast in the room and loaded up the car for the trip across property to check-in @ AKL-Kidani. Very cool temps @ WDW this morning and the breeze only adds to the need for sweatshirts and jackets, but the sun did make it bearable. We had to stall about an hour in the lobby, because my DD, DM and DS were flying in early in the morning and were catching DME over to the resort. I must add that my kids had no idea where we were going until 10 miles before arriving to WDW, because this was a surprise trip for DD5's birthday, and they had no idea that my parents & sister were coming until that magical moment we "just happen to be passing by a DME bus" and low and behold there was some people that happen to look familiar.
Spent the afternoon killing time @ DHS while DM and DW shopped for groceries. Finish out the day with dinner @ Chef Mickey and back to the room to crash for the night. Three in our party have been up since 5am for a 7am flight.
Tomorrow will include MK, BBB, and lunch @ Castle.
Good Night
