We are spending in week at HHI and we're having a wonderful time. The beach is spectacular and the golf has been fun.

We just ate at Dye's Gullah Fixins for the first time. It was too "Dye" for. Everything was delicious from the shrimp deviled eggs to the baked chicken and cornbread stuffing to the shrimp and grits. We topped it all off with coffee and blackberry dump. What a meal!

I would probably never have known about Dye's if it weren't for all of DVC and Disboards fans. Thanks so much for the recommendation. When you are on HHI, you have to try this restaurant.

We will be here a few more days if anyone has any questions or needs some information.

We are checking in June 6 for 4 nights and its on my agenda! I went to the website and it looks great. We are dvc members at OKW and HHI and have spent the last 4 summers at HHI and many other trips. I can't wait to relax, read a few good books, eat some great food and hit the beach! Hope we have great weather like last year!

Thanks for the report

Thanks for your review :) On our previous trips to HHI we haven't managed to try Dye's but hope to on our visit in August. How far in advance did you call to make reservation ?

Connears, Thanks for complimenting the website. My partner Lisa built the site for her. We dined there several times over the Christmas holiday and on one visit Lisa asked Dye if she had a website. She said that she paid someone who offered to do one, but that he never got it up and running. She was very upset about it and said that because she is basically a one woman operation she didn't have time to pursue it. That night back at the Resort Lisa quickly roughed out a website and we brought it to show her the next day at lunch. That rough draft became the site you see today.

Those of you who DO dine at Dye's, please go to the website and sign the guest register at the bottom of the page. I know it would mean a lot to Dye and to Lisa to know that people are actually looking at the website.

Linda

I hope to eat there someday! Thanks for the report, you are right about getting excellent ideas from Disboards.

MMMMMM!! Love me some Dye's! we ate there the first time last summer and will definitely be back in about 2 weeks!!

BTW, what a super nice thing your friend did by making that website! I love hearing stories like that!

Nice job on the Website: http://www.dyesgullahfixins.com/index.html
Just reading it makes me want to drive on down there for a crabcake burger and lemonade. Yummy stuff (not fancy but delicious).

I went for a late lunch last November -- no rez needed. In August, you might want to plan ahead to go for dinner and call as soon as you've settled on a date. There are only 6-7 items on lunch menu (no hamburger -- she says no one ever ordered that, so she took it off).

What a wonderful gesture you made in creating Dye's website. It always makes me smile when I hear how wonderfully gracious people can be! I will go on the site and make a comment about our wonderful dinner the other night.

You can make reservations...but remember Dye's is practically a one woman show and she doesn't always answer the phone. We simply stopped by the restaurant in our travels and made a reservation.

Lisa and I are firm believers in the "Pay It Forward" concept. We have had many angels in our lives who helped us when we needed it. This was something that Lisa could do easily. We loved Dye's food and her hospitality and wanted to let others know.

Hearing her talk about the man who took her money for the website bothered both of us immensely. I hate to think that there are people out there who would take advantage of such a hard working woman. At that point we would have moved mountains to help her.

I can't wait until October and then again in November when we get to go back to HHI and spend some time at the Disney resort and at Dye's.

We have it on our list for June.

Would love to know what activities they have for guests and cost.

LJC1861, We went to Dye's right after Christmas, because of your trip report! It was an awesome meal. We let Dye recommend her favorites for us. She's a special person, and if we ever go back to HHI again, we'll make sure we go back.

She treats you like family. She asked us how we heard of her restaurant, and we told it was because of a trip report on the DIS.

Thanks for introducing us to Dye's restaurant.
