Live from Disney's Contemporary Resort, December 2008

Today was our 1st day when we went to Downtown Disney and like always it was fun to visit. One surprising thing I saw was there was a line up outside the Christmas store and it's becaue everything was 50% off, so they were only letting so many people in at a time. Besides that we had another great meal at Earl of Sandwich and dessert at Ghiaradelli's.

Since my family and I had an early dinner at the Earl of Sandwich we decided to try a late night meal at the Contempo Cafe and we thought it was great. My Dad and I had the Angus Burgers with Cheddar Cheese and my Mom had the soup of the day which was Chicken & Rice. Besides that it was fun hearing Chef Mickey's next door, seeing the Monorail and it had a great atmosphere.

Thanks for the reports! Keep 'em coming and hope you are having a wonderful time.
If you get a chance to prod some CMs for some information on how long the construction inside the tower on the 4th floor will be going on I'd love to hear about it. I switched my reservation back to the Contemporary today when a Theme Park view room came open with the discount for our dates. Hopefully they'll be done by 1/20, but I'm not holding my breath. :)

I will ask some Cast Members tomorrow about the construction, however in the two days we have been here there has been no noise at all and our room is above the area they are working.

Hi CR - I'll be following along until we leave next weekend! Maybe we'll see you there. :woohoo:

Glad you made it safely.

I wonder what happened there was one there last week (it wasnt furnished though)..I walked over there to take a look at it:confused3 They told me as part of the renovation they were being added to the Bay Lake pool area....I do hope so...theres nothing like a realxing cabana day at the pool (if youre a pool person of course!!)

It was there during my vacation last week. It was on the left side of the pool. I swam in the bay pool on one of the warm days. Several "suits" were standing around the cabana and I overheard one of them say "these are going to cost us 16 grand each". Anyway, maybe they took it down.

Hey CR Fan: How are the crowds at the theme parks?

CR fan,
Thanks for the live trip report. We're staying at the Contemporary for the 1st time this coming April - Bay Lake view Tower room. How much of that room's view is affected by the DVC construction? Would you recommend asking for a room farther away from the construction or are all the Bay Lake view rooms pretty much the same view?

Thanks - and have a good trip!

Hi CR FAN! :wave2:

I hope you are having a great trip! Thanks for taking the time for a live report!

I too am wondering about the crowds this week. We might do a trip next year the week before Christmas, before we head over to the beach to visit with my family.

Have a great time and take lots of pics! You know us DISers love pics!!!!

Today because it was Morning Extra Magic Hour my family and I went to Epcot. We got there a few minutes before 8:00 AM and after it opened we walked right onto Soarin, Test Track, very little wait for the Character photo stop in Future World and everything else we wanted to do. So I would say the crowds were very good and the extra hour really helped.

Now we just came back from visiting the Boardwalk and saw some great acts and had a nice walk around there.

Also I had asked when the rest of the construction would be finished on the 4th floor and I was told between April & May of next year.

Tomorrow I am going to the Magic Kingdom with some friends of mine from Orlando, then it's off to Epcot for dinner.

oasispaul,
Our room is on the other end of where the Bay Lake Tower is being built and we can still see it, however it does not look that bad.

Ack. Oh, well. Hopefully we won't be able to hear it from inside our room during nap time in the afternoon. I requested 11th floor, so hopefully we'll get that.

Well if your room is on the side where the Fantasia store is then you won't hear anything, because the construction is happening on the other side.

I just wanted to say the Online Concierge program really works. Just after 11:00 PM we requested some more shampoos and soaps which were delivered to our room 15 minutes later. The surprising thing was that someone was there this late to handle it. So I hope this information will help others out in the future.

Hey, CR Fan,

Thanks for providing these daily postings. We are going to be there in a few days so they are just fueling my excitement. :goodvibes

CR Fan Thanks for the updates...that on line congierge sounds great!! I love that all of the rooms at the CR have computers in them...wish the other deluxes would follow suit...

Today myself and friends of mine went to the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. At the Magic Kingdom didn't do to much in terms of attractions since I am going back tomorrow with my family, however we did see Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Buzz. However for lunch we were able eat at the Liberty Tree Tavern without an ADR and waited 5 minutes.

At Hollywood Studios we just went for Toy Story Mania which was a long because by the time we arrived the Fast Passes were all gone. After that we were once again able to eat dinner at 50's Prime Time Cafe without an ADR and waited around 5-10 minutes to be seated.

So today was a very fun day.
