Live from Disney! (with pics)

Just thought i'd let you guys know that I found your trip post today and am hooked. It took me 3 hours to get thru it all. Man Rob I have no idea how your not 500 lbs after all that junk food you consume. Congratulations on keeping your figure!
Thanks for all the info and pics. You guys are a sweet couple together and i feel like i know you personally now.
Thanks again,
Karen :earsgirl:

Cass and Rob,

You guys have the greatest trip report of all times!!!! It is just like karenbaco said, I feel like I know you personally now too. Thanks for sharing with us at home...it certainly has made my days happier!:sunny: I hope you enjoy the rest of your "dream" vacation! I hope there is someday in my lifetime that I can get away for 3 weeks at Disney/Universal/Cruise like you got to. I can only imagine...Well anyways, have a fabulous time!

Hi Guys!
Hugs to Cass! I hope you feel better soon!

I just had to post a quick reply regarding what Rob said about smokers @ the parks. My husband does the same thing,(the telling ppl to put it out thing, not the smoking!lol) in fact once in the line for BTM this guy would not put out his cigarette and my husband ended up flicking it out from between the guys fingers and stepping on it. (which also almost ended up in a brawl lol) My son has asthma which is really aggravated by cigarette smoke, and hubby happens to be a Respiratory Therapist, so we tend to have quite a negative response to the whole smoke being blown in your face kind of thing LOL. Most smokers are respectful of others and smoke in the designated areas, but it just takes one who doesn't to ruin it for everyone. After that incident on BTM we almost had to go back to our room b/c DS who was 7 at the time was in rough shape, which would have totally ruined one of our Disney Days!

Ok, ranting over LOL

I can't wait till you get home so I can see all the rest of the pics! You both take such great pictures. What an amazing trip. Thanks for all your time and effort posting, it's been so great!

Happy Halloween!

omg jen!!! I can not believe your dh did that!!!

what bravery (or something...) to do this...

ITA that smokers need to stay in their areas, I did not see this on our trip at all in Sept thank goodness, my dd has asthma as well and I am totally against tobacco use...esp around others...(no I do not use the stuff...)

I discovered this thread today, and I have had a hard time leaving the computer. It was like reading an AWESOME book that you don't want to put down. It has taken me most of the day to read it, and I enjoyed every minute of it!!

Thank you so much for taking the time out on your trip to write these!! Our family leaves in 37 days for our 2nd trip to WDW. I thought I was excited before, but now I'm REALLY excited.

I hope you both were able to have a magical Halloween. I look forward to the next update. You both help make the DIS such a wonderful and magical place.

I do agree with some of what Rob said about the smoking, but we noticed it much more in Universal (IOA to be exact) than Disney. I used to be a smoker and am pretty tolerant of others smoking, cause I remember what it was like being on the other side of the cigarrette, but I like to think I was more aware and considerate of others. We actually witnessed several times in Disney when CM directing customer to smoking areas or telling them to put it out. One of the people traveling with us lit up when we were walking in Dinoland and I nearly flipped (must have been the environmental awareness at AK). Before I could even say something to him, a CM approached him (in like 2 seconds flat) and asked him to put it out or move to a designated area.

IOA was a totally different story. There were people smoking everywhere! We were beind a guy waiting in line to meet spidey that was smoking and nothing was said, plenty of universal workers around, guests in line talking about it and no acknowledgement whatsoever! We also were in line in the INSIDE part of Spidy and someone was smoking! again nothing was said. They woman even threw the cig butt down on the floor in there! I was shocked. :earseek: They really need to be a little stricter on smoking at IOA, even if it is a more "grown up" park than Disney.

UP with Cass & Rob, DOWN with smokers!

Feel better Cass! Excellent reviews, Rob. Thanks so much for taking the time to make all of us part of your amazing adventure.

Thank you for taking time out of your holiday to share your thoughts, photos and stories. I have truly enjoyed following along with your trip report; I practically felt like I was part of your trip too. :goodvibes

You two are such a lovely couple and I wish you all of the best with your future plans. Thanks again for sharing!! Have a safe trip home and I hope that you both are feeling better soon. :wizard:

Thanks SO much for all the work you put into this thread. I was supposed to be on the 10/22 cruise, but DH wanted to cancel out of fear of Wilma (seasickness). I was so upset, but reading your posts made me feel like I was there!

Just an observation: you two seem to be so wonderful together & genuinely enjoy each other. So nice to see these days :goodvibes

Thanks again

I am subscribing to the thread and I can't wait to hear about the last few days of your trip. :wizard: You guys are so cute and you seem like you have great chemistry together!

Rob,

I just returned from Universal and I saw the same thing. People with total disregard to the smoking policy. They would just light up like it was no big deal right in the middle of Marvel Super Hero Island and other places. I even saw one man put his cigerette out on a wall in the dueling Dragon's queue area. Pretty disgusting and very little disregard for how nice IOA truely is.

Hi folks..this is gonna be a short report as we didn’t do a whole lot yesterday since I felt like crap all day.

I woke up early to take some photos of the beautiful lodge and then I went back to bed and snuggled Rob for a couple more hours. Nothing like great cuddles to cure anything!

day20-3.jpg

We made it to WCC for our 10am PS and were seated in about 10 minutes. We had a great server and we enjoyed watching all the crazy antics but the food was terrible. I might blame it on my not feeling good but Rob was feeling good and much easier to please than I and he hardly ate anything. He got the fruit plate and we both got the all you can eat skillet. They brought us the one skillet to share and we didn’t even finish that.

Do ya like his fork??? LOL

We went back to the hotel and I was feeling really sick so he let me rest for several hours in hopes of feeling better for MNSSHP later. He posted on the thread and then joined me for some rest. We woke up at 3pm and got ready for the party. Unfortunately, I was not feeling better but I knew that my sweetheart really wanted to go so I did my best to suck it up and do my best. We took the boat to the MK, got there by 5pm-ish and got some hot dogs at Casey’s.

day20-4.jpg

We walked around for a bit and then headed over to Liberty Square to ride Haunted Mansion, which to our disappointment, was closed! Walked over and did Pirates and then got Rob a dole whip float, which is one of his faves!

day20-6.jpg

day20-5.jpg

We watched the Villains Mix & Mingle show and found a spot for the 8pm parade.

day20-7.jpg

day20-8.jpg

We loved the parade! Glad we went to the early one though! We went to see if the Mansion was open yet but it wasn’t.

Got a fruit smoothie in hopes of it soothes my throat but that didn’t work. Every time I swallow, it feels like I am swallowing a cactus. It hurts so bad.

We found a spot for Hallowishes, man what a great show that is! Walked over one last time to check on the Mansion and it was open!! YAY! How could you NOT ride the Haunted Mansion on Halloween night???

By then, Rob was starting to lose his voice too and his throat was hurting too so we went straight back to the lodge, got some food and passed out.

Rob was up at 5 am with a VERY sore throat and I had another coughing fit at 6am.
We both will be going to the doctor on Thursday. If we were at home, I would have been to the doctor already and I HATE going to the doctor and try to avoid it as much as possible, so that shows you just how crappy I feel right now. I am just glad we are going home tomorrow. I really hate being in my favourite place on earth and feeling so crappy that it’s hard to enjoy it.

I know that some of you will think that you would rather be in WDW and sick than at home and healthy but I am sure this is more than a cold and it really hurts. I am still very appreciative and lucky to be here, especially at the WL but right now I just want to go home. We’ve cancelled our day today, we were supposed to go to Typhoon Lagoon and then Pleasure Island but neither of us are in shape to be doing either.

We’ve decided that if and when we cruise again, we will be going home the day we leave the ship! Rob never got sick on vacation until we started cruising and since then he has been sick on every cruise now. I know it’s a chance you take when you get on a ship with a couple thousand people.

And just so you know, we did everything we could to prevent it. Although you only see Rob eating ice cream, he’s also a HUGE fruit and veggie lover too and hasn’t been eating just junk food. We’ve been taking vitamins, Echinacea, Cold F/X for weeks before the cruise and until he got sick we were drinking 4 or 5 bottles of water every day in between meals. We washed our hands about 7 millions times a day (okay, maybe a slight exaggeration there) and we never touched the hand railings while on the cruise.

Oh and Rob doesn’t eat ice cream like this at home, but he’s on vacation and part of the appeal of a WDW vacation is such great ice cream. And we ALL have our weaknesses…some like fatty foods, some like carbs (that would be me!) some like the sweet stuff, so give him a break, he’s on VACATION!!!!!!

Thanks again for following us this whole trip, for all your wonderful well wishes, pixie dust and prayers, they really mean a lot to us! I’ve known for many years how great DISers are but Rob really saw it for the first time himself during this trip by reading all your great replies.

Thanks to Pete Werner for making all of this possible! Imagine, this all started with a one-page thread index! What a great community you have created!

This will probably be our last “Live from Disney” post as we won’t be doing anything today and will be flying back home tomorrow at 5pm.

I will, however, post on this thread when I have some updates to my website done.
We’ve had a fabulous Dream vacation and despite being ill, I am so glad we did it! We are blessed to have been able to do everything we have done this trip and I’m glad you could all share in our crazy adventures.

A special thank you to my amazingly incredible husband Robert. You have made every single second of this trip fun, memorable and crazy! You were such a trooper posing for silly photos for me, being incredibly patient while I took thousands of photos and video and for giving other people (whether it be other DISers, the kids you spoke "piratey" to or all the CM's you personally thanked for doing a great job) a reason to smile. You truly are a shining star sweetheart. Thanks for all the foot rubs, cuddles and so many special moments...I can't wait to start a family with you so you can share all the wonderful things that you are with our kids. I love you..always and forever!

AWWWWW! How sweet. I have enjoyed your posts and i'm sorry to see them end. Hope you both are feeling better soon!

Cass, Great report. I have to say, I am a flight attendant, flying with a cold can be very miserable. Especially on your ears. Pilots and flight attendants take Sudafed to help this. So please, I don't want your ears to hurt, take some Sudafed about 30 min. before your flight, or at least 1 hour prior to landing.
Thanks for the wonderful reports. I'm sure you are looking forward to being home.
Staci

AHWWWW...that brought tears to my eyes!! Feel better and have a safe trip home!:wave2:
