Live from 9/27 Magic

Finally onboard. After getting to Florida on Friday and finding out the cruise moved to Monday. First call to DCL said to be at A resort at 8:45 on Monday to board bus for Port Everglades at 9:45. After arriving at AKL found out bus leaving at 1:45. That was ok. Time for haircut. Also gave lunch vouchers that we can use anytime up to March 2005 at most counter service restaurants. Buses were running behind. We left at 3:15 for 3 1/2 hour trip. At the Port we waited for awhile on the bus. Boarded magic at 8:15. We had second seating at Lumiere's. First seating was still eating but we managed to get a table. Meal was great.
Luggage was at room after dinner. We have been offered a 25% discount on the next cruise that will be mailed to us at home. $200 onboard credit and free transportation for the ports this trip. Also internet is only $39.99 instead of $89.99. Wonder was also in port so buses had travelers from both ships. We leave at Midnight. Lifeboat drill is at 10:45 in the morning. Tomorrow is at sea on the way to Cozemel on Wednesday. Probably no Castaway Cay this trip.

More pixie dust. Awakened today (Tuesday) with another $100 shipboard credit for a total of $300. They really trying to take care of us. We are at sea today. Lots of Bingo, movies and relaxing. It is really great to be here. A day at Disney is always better than a day anywhere else.

Thanks for keeping us posted on your trip, I was wondering what they did with the ships. Is Port Everglades on the Gulf side?

Port Everglades is in Fort. Lauderdale just north of miami. Has about 25 docks. The Magic and Wonder were ther Monday evening at the same time. Got up eaarly this morning. Watched the boat Dock in Cozemel. Capt. Tom, whom we mmet last night, glided the boat in from outside. Several other boats here. The Elation from Carnaval right beside us. We took taxi to theSouth? end of the shopping strip and walked back about 1 mile. I would suggest this since it only cost $5 for the two of us. The shopkeepers did try to get you in every store but not too pushy.
Most stores neat and clean. Wife bought several small items. We liked it better than Nassau. Came back and had lunch at Topsiders. Mexican buffet. Very good. Now rest time and bingo at 4;45 I think. Answer any questions. Weather is wonderful. Wait staff is Ok but not best we have had on the other cruises.

Thursday morning in Costa maya. Has buffet breakfast at Parrot Cay. Going out in a little. We are only here till 4:30. Ocean seems a little rough today. Royall Carribean parked right beside of us and Holland America nearby. Costa maya must be a new port because not alot to do here. Been playing bingo. I will never win. Lots playing. Most games have more than one winner. Had Pirates night last night. bandanas for all. Also Deck Party with Pirates. Going to show Ladder 49 tonight at 12:01. I hope some during the day tomorrow. One thing that is surprising. The free in-room movies have Dreamworks films including Shrek 2. Isn't this the competition? We both work for Disney Store and people come in all the time and ask for Shrek merchandise.
We are dining with other disney strore cast members (for now).
One couple from Honululu. He wroks at pearl Harbor. She works part time at only Disney store left in Hawaii. Other cast memeber is from Fairfax, VA. She works at TYson's Corner. She also brought parents from Chicago.
This is out third cruise. The water seems as rough this morning as i have seen it. We can even fill it at dock. Be back later.

Catnip0113, you had asked what they did with the ship when Jeanne hit. We were on the 9/27 Magic as well and I asked this question of our servers.

The Magic docked at PC very late Friday night (9/24). They unloaded the passengers as fast as they could AND unloaded the garbage. They were very concerned about waste material.

After they dropped the passengers off, the Magic headed south (with the crew on board), down the east coast of Florida and out into the Gulf of Mexico where they waited for Jeanne to come up the East Coast. Given the stories of people dealing with bad seas on the last day of the 9/18 cruise, I can only imagine what it was like running right into Jeanne in the wee hours of the morning on 9/25, less than 24 hours before Jeanne made landfall. Captain Tom was sweating bullets I'm sure.

Port Everglades is in Fort Lauderdale which is just north of Miami, so the Magic returned there on Monday where they picked us up.
