!!!! LIVE from 6/11 !!!!

OK... It was still very cold today! (62 deg to be exact!) Sun came out about 4:00. They say 80's tomorrow and it's about time. No one seems to have packed warm clothes. The stores are packed.

We had High Tea at Palo and yes it's 3-4:00 on sea days. Very good! Only 4 other tables were seated with us. I don't know about the Wendy tea. I'll have to check about that.

We got to the terminal at 10:15 and got a boarding pass #4. They were just starting check in and waited about 1/2hr in line. Sat a bit and watched for other disers and had a picture taken with Goofy. They started boarding around 12:00. Seems like we got there at the right time, because the line was all behind me and long awhile later! Went to PC for lunch.

Schedule is what Windermerejudy posted above. I don't have my navigator with me right now, so can't double check. Had formal night in AP tonight.
We aren't return cruisers so we didn't get anything special. The CC's got the blankets. They said the LE Mexico pin might sell out this cruise.

We have Capt. Tom and I don't know about the other postitions.

The Golden Mickeys show was good tonight. The shows and things in the other clubs seem to be pretty quiet.

Thanks for all your tips. We have tried the pizza, the chicken strips, the hamburgers and the Cove cafe is still on the list to try! There is still so much to do.

Tomorrow we plan to do the pool since the sun in suppose to be out and our Character breakfast is tomorrow too. After breakfast we are going to see our tablemate's presentation in the Buena Vista theatre.

Hope I answered some of your questions and will check back in tomorrow.
All our excursions are early morning ones and city tours, but will let you know about them after we get back.

Debbie

Bump! You fell off the first page.
Hi! Hope you are having a great time. I was on board last week and didn't want to leave. If you or your fellow cruisers haven't brought or bought warm clothes, you need to do so quickly. The cold weather isn't over if your cruise is like ours was last week. Friday will also be a cold, yucky weather day.

Sunday was DJ Pike's b-day. He told us so many times while we were on board. :) Did your cruise help him celebrate?

Hope you all are having a wonderful day at sea!

Yeah it seemed pretty weird that we had a sea day with no show and then very busy days like PV/pirate nightwhich oddly enough was also the PJ parties in all the kids club which are my kids favorite event. They did not know whether to dress in pirate wear or pajamas since the PJ party was 7:30 or so til 10:00. We chose pirate.

They will probably refine it. We also were expecting an 8:30 departure out of Mazatlan but that was changed to 5:00pm will be curious to see what this week holds.

For whatever reason the PJ party has been on Pirate/Tropical night for the past three years at least. We have been on both the Western & Eastern & it was the same on each cruise even though the day was different.

Well since theyjust began pirate night at the end of last year it did not use to matter. Now it does. Noone wanted to dress up in tropical wear versus PJs now it is a tough choice and the way it occurs you must go fromdinner dress (pirate) to PJs and back again for the deck party. That is a lot of dressing of kids especially when you have 3 of them.

Well today was a disappointment with the weather. A little warmer, but no sun again.
The time changes have been killing us with having the late dinner. Forward an hour on Sat nite and then again last night. We are just like walking zombies! Seems like all we do is sit and eat and then walk some off and then it's time to eat again! Our dinner ends about 10 everynight and then we are to full and tired to do anything.

We did have a great time today as Monstro (fellow diser) organized a cabin tour and we went to everyone's rooms to check out the different catagories. Some nice man next to one of the cat 4 we visited had a 2 bedroom suite and he let us all in to check it out! Very nice and roomy. We have a small Dis tag game going also.

We went to our tablemate's (Stacia) presentation in the Buena Vista theatre today (Behind the Scenes) and really enjoyed watching her life as a Disney artist and then she drew pictures and had a drawing and gave them away!

Visited the Cove cafe but still hasn't been warm enough for me for the pool!

Tomorrow is Pirate night and PV city tour for us. Twiced Charmed is on Weds.

I have heard not so good things about Head Servers on the board, but ours is really great.(Alexndra from the Netherlands...she kinda reminds me of Amber on Survivor! )

We don't see our room steward very much though.

Everyone we talked to that has had there Palo brunch said it was just great and we are looking forward to it on Friday.

Hopefully we have some sun tomorrow. I really hate this weather!

Off for some pictures and dinner again!

Debbie

Sry, about the weather, I wonder if it's unseasonably cold this week! It has to heat up soon, hang in there and play BINGO!! :cool1:

I think it's just our normal June Gloom they are experiencing. So. Ca is always overcast in the AM and usually burns off in the afternoon this time of year. I think it should start to warm up a little every week as the summer progresses. We did the Mex Riv on Princess a few years ago and it was chilly the first and last day. We went in March for that cruise. Amy :flower:

RE: Weather, so true, about the June gloom.

It is enlightening, the difference from sailing out of Florida and then now in two weeks, sailing out of Los Angeles. I've read that the seas are much rougher after departing from Cabo on the way home to LA.

I'm use to June Gloom, but also 90 degrees in February, March, April. etc. It rained on Saturday and it was 87 degrees today. I hope the weather burns off. :sunny:

(I am posting this on the current "live from..." thread to see if someone could ask a spa supervisor what the current policy is. This post is copied from another thread, but no one of any authority has responded there yet. The policy may have changed since you can now book spa ressies on the website in advance.)

Why can't you book a regular massage appointment (in person immediately upon boarding) for a sea day?

On our 7-day Eastern cruise in January 2005, I got to the spa in plenty of time to make our reservations on embarkation day. However, I was told that they do not take reservations for regular massages on sea days. Only "premium" treatments can be booked on sea days. They offered to give me reservations on the St. Thomas day and put us first on a waiting list for massages on a sea day. Unfortunately, we were never called on either sea day before we got to St. Thomas. I understand that they want to maximize their profits by booking as many high-priced services as possible, but isn't this unreasonable?

I really don't know about the spa as that is something we haven't even been near! We have no interest doing that this trip.

The weather was much warmer today and the sun was out for quite a while this morning. It clouded over again about 5:00. Might have drizzle tonight the locals say.

We did the PV City tour and had a great time. The bus took us to the old city and new.
We saw Iguanas in the trees everywhere. Saw the church, and stopped at a jewelry store that gave free margaritas and beer. Went by Mismaloya area and stopped at a little restaurant that had fresh guacamole, salsa, chips, cheese quesadillas, tortillas, and beans. Also drinks and beer. Much more food than we were expecting for this tour.
Great bus driver (Benji) and Tour Guide (Jesus)

We came back to the ship and changed to our bathing suits then walked (about 10 mins) to the Krystal Hotel to use there pool and sat in chairs that over looked the beach. We did not have to pay any cover charge. But we did buy couple of drinks.

I did not like the flea market set by the ship. Unless you are use to bargaining, I would avoid this area. They just pull you into there stores and are kinda rude!
This day was the best so far on this cruise.

Tonight is Pirates night and hopefully fireworks. (weather permitting).

Debbie

bumping you up from the bottom of the page.

Thank you so much for posting. I am really enjoying getting another "live" feed. Do you know anyone that did the Los Veranos Canopy Tour in PV? We are with them next week.

How was pirate night? Were you able to have fireworks?

Hope you have a wonderful time in Mazatlan! :sunny:

Ppiglet - Thank you for this "Live" thread. I'm not cruising until the August Repo cruise, but I love reading all the posts from people enjoying these special West Coast Cruises.

Is Claudio your server? We had a server named Claudio (early 40's? from Rome?) last year; he was just starting his break after our cruise, but I hadn't heard him mentioned again on the boards. I believe he's been onboard for a few years now. Could you please ask him if he'll still be onboard August 20? His assistant that cruise was Leasa from Jamaica, and my DD Lara still talks about them all the time and really hopes she'll see them again this year.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer questions!!!! Enjoy your cruise.

Arlene

Where is everyone today must be busy on shore. How did everything go last night were you able to see fireworks. Lets hear from someone soon

Well Judy..we were SUPPOSED to leave @ 5:00 pm...but were delayed by some MISSING guests!! :confused3 The crew waited and waited for them, and they kept "announcing" their names and stateroom numbers over the PA as well. It was the first time I've ever witnessed such an EXTENDED delay by DCL. It was nearly 45 minutes past the hour when the ship began moving out. This happened again, in CABO. I never recall this happening on any other Disney cruise. I always thought if you were LATE, or missed the TIME for departure...they ship would LEAVE. PERIOD. Lots of differences this time around. :earboy2:

So True! The weather was nice and WARM in PV, M, and even CABO...but turned rough, windy and FREEZING COLD on the final SEA DAY home (shortly after leaving Cabo--until we arrived in LA). Yet, I just chalked-it-up to our upper California Coast summer weather! :confused3 It's like night/day from the Port Canaveral Disney cruises. We've never even been "chilly" on any of these. :goodvibes

WOW! :hourglass Just wondering if the time changes have anything to do with this? My head was spinning just reading the navigators posted - move clock forward, move clock back - :earseek: :rotfl: Things highlighted on my shopping list:

A lighted battery travel clock
Durable, cheap watches for our kids and our selves
A watch in my backpack and my DH's. Just in case!

How was the weather today? Can't wait to hear about Cabo! :Pinkbounc

Anyone know what the weather is usually like the middle of August? Hopefully it will be a lot warmer.
