**LIVE** First we eat, then we do everything else! Sept Dining Review - Update 5/5/14

THE BEST OF DISNEY FOOD PART 6

Well my room looks like an explosion of clothes :rotfl: must mean I am packing! I am always guilty of packing WAY too much so this year I am trying to make a conscious effort to ask "will I *really* wear this?" before I drop it into the packing pile. Whether that will work is another story :rolleyes2

The Best of Disney Food Part 6

This edition will showcase one of my favorite "hidden gems" at WDW. I don't think it is quite as hidden as when DMom and I started this tradition 7 years ago, but it is still one of the lesser known dining experiences on property....

The Garden View Afternoon Tea

There is something so calming and relaxing about enjoying afternoon tea in the lobby of the Grand Floridian. DMom and I love to partake in this tea and we try to do it every trip. The piano music from the lobby, the sunlight from the huge windows, the floral prints and heavenly smells of tea and pastries :lovestruc:cloud9: We just love it!

We always get The Grand Tea, which includes your choice of tea, a glass of sparkling wine, tea sandwiches, an onion tartlet, pate, a jam tart, scones with devonshire cream and lemon curd, and your choice of pastries, strawberries and cream or trifle.

DMom's tea of choice is Harmony:Organic peppermint leaves, organic chamomile flowers, orange blossoms, and allspice. A fresh and minty herbal blended for complexity, balanced with the fragrant notes of allspice.
Aroma: Fresh and spicy. Palate: Balanced and smooth, mint tempered with spice.

My tea of choice is Mad Hatter's Tea Party: This velvety combination of bright and flowery Ceylon with passionfruit, pomegranate, and vanilla has become a favourite blend of those with an appreciation for fruity palates.
Aroma: Sweet and fruity. Palate: Clean with a sweet finish.

THE BEST OF DISNEY FOOD PART 7

My room still looks like an explosion of clothes  but I did make some packing progress. :laundy: Tomorrow I have to tackle toiletries and carry on, which are always my weaknesses - I love makeup and technology :lmao:

The Best of Disney Food Part 7

One of my favorite counter service restaurants on WDW property is Wolfgang Puck Express. We discovered Wolfgang Puck's restaurants in Newport, California when I was 14 or 15 and fell in love with his food. When we discovered this counter service location we knew we were going to love it. The funny thing is that we have become creatures of habit - we always order the same thing!

My favorite item has gone through some changes over the years:

The Four Cheese Macaroni

This is creamy and rich, the breadcrumbs add needed texture.

DDad's favorite item is simple but delicious:

The Crispy Chicken Tenders

These perfectly breaded white meat chicken tenders are fantastic! Not to mention the yummy house made sauces (BBQ sauce, Ranch & Honey Mustard). The fries are wonderful too, tossed with fresh herbs so they are elevated from typical fast food fries.

DMom's favorite item is the best salad I have ever tasted:

The Chinois Chicken Salad

I cannot tell you how amazing this combination of flavors is - juicy chicken, crisp fresh napa and purple cabbage, crunchy carrots, tangy asian honey mustard dressing and salty fried wontons. Love it!

Can't wait to stop by here for lunch on our arrival day!

THE BEST OF DISNEY FOOD PART 8

Hi All! Sorry for the lack of an update yesterday! Had a lot of errands to run and things to wrap up for my internship. This will likely be my last full scale update until I arrive in Florida.

I've saved the best for last...

The Best of Disney Food Part 8

DESSERTS!

My family tends to think that we don't order desserts that often at WDW, however, sifting through my photobucket disproves that theory :rotfl:

I will admit that we often enjoy appetizers and entrees so much that desserts fall by the wayside, but that isn't to say we haven't had several amazing WDW desserts. Just looking at these pictures has inspired me to order at least a few more desserts than I was planning!

I know some find the new California Grill Menu not to their taste and many have stated that the desserts in particular sound pedestrian or disappointing. I must be in the minority because I am excited by the offerings!

Chefs de France’s Crème Brulee

Chefs de France’s Profiteroles

Buddy Valastro’s Vanilla Cupcake

Buddy Valastro’s Cannoli

Buddy Valastro’s Chocolate Mousse Cake

California Grill’s Caramel Apple Bread Pudding with Cinnamon Ice Cream

California Grill’s Caramelized Banana Napoleon

California Grill’s Valhrona Chocolate Cake

Jiko’s One Last Cup

Jiko’s Pistachio Crème Brulee

Jiko’s Goats Milk Cheesecake with Caramel Sauce

Jiko’s Chocolate Tea Safari

Jiko’s Pineapple Mango Crème Brule

Jiko’s Caramel Apple Tart

Jiko’s Strawberry Rhubarb Cheesecake

Monsieur Paul’s Chocolate Torte

Monsieur Paul’s Crème Caramel

Monsieur Paul’s Grand Marnier Souffle

Victoria & Albert’s Crème Brulee

Victoria & Albert’s Friandise

Victoria & Albert’s Caramelized Banana Gateau

Victoria & Albert’s Grand Marnier Souffle

Victoria & Albert’s Kona Chocolate Souffle

And...last but not least....

My Best Friend’s Wedding Cake!

So, as a foodie, do you have any food pics from MCO? :rotfl:

Have a great trip!

Thanks for reading! LOL glad to have another dining-centric family on board :thumbsup2 I try my best to keep the updates live :rolleyes1 but sometimes Disney wi-fi and photobucket don't like to cooperate!

The best bet is to follow my twitter or instagram - both are in my signature and will have updates throughout the day. Just in case photobucket doesn't cooperate with me :lmao:

Very cool that we will overlap at CSR. We have done free dining before and it is a great deal! It just doesn't work with our dining style anymore - too many signatures

LOL sorry I don't have any MCO food pics - was there something in particular you were looking for?

Each family has unique vacation needs - we love the dining and sit down restaurant experience as much, if not more than, the park experience. You have lots of time to enjoy the parks and dining with 12 days! :wizard:

38 Hours To Go!!

pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Woohoo! Can't believe we are leaving our house in just 38 hours! 2 more sleeps! Though for those of you that have done the math....that means we are leaving the house at 2am :rotfl:

We are flying out of the Buffalo airport even though we live in Toronto. We have found that airfares to be much more affordable and the airport to be much more efficient. However, it is about 2 hours away and we always plan to arrive at the airport 2 hours early. So for our 6am flight that means leaving at 2am! In all honesty we will probably leave between 2am and 3am because you don't really have to worry about traffic at that time :lmao:

So to let you all know, I have every intention of doing this Dining Review LIVE at WDW...however, the Disney Wi-Fi and Photobucket don't always get along :badpc:

Your best bet for live updates, pics & short videos is to follow my twitter: @thedisneyfoodie and my instagram: TheDisneyFoodie

There are links to both in my signature. And while you are looking at my signature, pop on over to my TR and check it out :thumbsup2
