Got here on Tuesday. Checked in right at 4, our room was ready, and it was just what we asked for on Miller's Road. It's in building 21, overlooking water features and the golf course. Room is in good shape, and the redecorating looks nice, if not particularly Key West-y. I actually like the floors and the 2nd bedroom a lot, as well as the granite countertops. I even like the coffeetable makeover and its crackle top!

Our room is in good shape. Toaster wasn't working right, and we were missing a spatula and our front door light wasn't working. I just made a call and all was taken care of quickly.

WiFi has been working just fine...well enough in fact for my husband to do his work here.

Building 19 is closed; looks like they are painting and doing other work.

Parks have been busy, but not packed. I'd say in the 4 to 6 range. Weather has been really nice. Downright cool when we first got here (like in the 70s) but now back up to the 80s. It's not very humid yet, though, which is great.

Friend start coming in this weekend. Can't wait to see them!

Oh, also, the buses have been fine. We normally drive everywhere, but have been using buses since DH has been stuck at room working. We've not waited more than 10 minutes so far.

Sounds like you are having a nice trip. OKW will do that for you.

So excited to hear crowds aren't bad. We will be checking in Friday at OKW. We so love the laid back feel of the resort.

Lucky! We're sitting at MCO waiting for our return flight after checking out of OKW this morning. How do you like the new arm exercise machine? Otherwise called the shade opener in the living room? It seems to take FOREVER! How do you like building 21? We were in building 16, moved from original assignment of 56, and loved watching the golfers. Glad we weren't the only ones who thought it was cool earlier in the week. Enjoy!

Thanks for the update!! OKW is our home resort and my favorite. The kids and dh have voted for AKL the last couple years, so I haven't had a chance to see the refurbished rooms. Have a great trip!!

Frankly I wasn't too keen on the new colors. I'm no designer, but I can't believe the designer thought this would remind people of Key West. Maybe I've watched too many reality shows, but all I could think of was "This must have been designed by one of the losers from 'Design Star'". I mean, who thought blue and beiges were Key West? What happened to the pinks, like outside the buildings? And who put that light blue on the chairs in a place with lots of kids?

Same designer who thought an alligator finish on the coffee table would look good. :lmao:

Just returned from OKW yesterday, way too short a trip. When I first heard we were in building 14 I was disappointed until I saw the room. It was 1430, we had a great sight of the DTD balloon raising and lowering straight down the fairway with palm trees framing the windows. This was the best room we've ever had.

We did on line check in, which is not the way to go when you have family staying with you since charging is placed on every adult card and almost all the cards have to be recut to restrict who can charge.

Our room was in good condition and ready when we arrived. When I checked into the second room later our luggage was heading over there right in front of us; I had the bellman show us which room it was. Now that's fast luggage delivery! (We used ME)

I agree about the living room door shades. Last trip, I cut my hand opening it because it was still mounted on the wall. This trip all three had broken off the lower mount which made it much easier to manipulate.

My sister lives in Florida, she and her daughter agreed that the decor is very Key West. They said that nothing is supposed to match but the colors would be more beige than the pastels on the front of the buildings.

Ha! My husband opened the shades, and I've just left them up, so I didn't have to cope. They are pretty, though.

I spent most of my life living in Florida, and this doesn't look like the Key West color palette to me.

Having some dark wood is right, as a lot of furniture there came off the boat from overseas sea captains. And eclectic is right. But off all the fabrics in the universe, this collection would not have been my first choice. But it's fine.

More important for me is the bed is OK! Not pillowtop, but not the concrete slab I had the last time that scared me away from staying here for years!

Was your room a first floor? If so did you hear any noise from the unit above you?

My DH and I requested and got the 3rd floor. Since it was a one bd, we could easily hear the people next door; I put pillows inside the doors and it helped a little. I requested ground floor for our other party with 4 kids and luckily for everyone else, they also got the requested room. They said they heard loud banging at night, but weren't sure what it was.

Maybe their neighbors, if your friends had four kids? ;)
