I am going to attempt to keep up with a live report from our trip to OKW and BLT. We will be here for the next 7 days. We left home on Saturday at 4 am planning for heavy traffic due to the long holiday weekend. We were very surprised to find very little if any traffic until we reached Jacksonville so that was a very nice surprise. I had done the online check in for our OKW portion. I had stated we would arrive around noon. When we checked in at 1pm our room was ready and we got the area we had requested. Again another nice surprise. Our room at OKW is very nice. We have a 2 BR that overlooks the golf course and the are is very quiet. No complaints about the room.I was worried about the bed as well as the rest of the room it is fantastic.
We went to T Rex for diner. This is not the palce to go when you have been up for 16 hours with only 4 hours of sleep before hand :lmao:. The place is extremely loud but the food was good and DS and DD had a great time. We did not have to wait to be seated which was another treat. Below are some pictures of the inside of T Rex for those of you who have not been. If you go the portions are very large and can easily be shared by 2 adults. The kids got appetizers which were still large portions.

We are on property right now too ! Staying at BWV for the first time. The weather is such a nice change from the foot of snow we left. Have an amazing stay

Looking forward to vicariously enjoying the rest of your trip. :teeth:

Thanks for the T-Rex pictures. I've been wondering what it's like in there. :)

Let me start off by saying that I hope you and your family have a wonderful stay in Disney. By looking at the resorts you are staying in, you are a perfect person to ask a question that has been lingering on my mind for a little while now.

We own at BLT and know that we will at some point really appreciate having access to that resort. This past Nov/Dec we stayed with extended family at OKW and fell in love with the resort. We loved having so much outdoor space to roam around and explore. When we went on our last full day to Chef Mickey's, we had a chance to look at BLT and DH and I looked at eachother and I knew he was thinking the same thing as me. Other than the pool and walking over to the Contemporary or a park, where can you go to just have some peace and quiet or do some exploring? Is BLT really the best choice when we will do all parks and commando touring but trying for OKW when we will be there to also soak up R&R at the resort? I appreciate your thoughts on this as I am planning our trip for December again for 9 nights and again my family will be coming at different points of the stay.

I realize that the obvious solution is to do a split stay but DH has already said no, absolutely not. He believes when on vacation you unpack once and only once. Oh well, I can only hope he changes his mind on that one.... eventually.

Dee77 my husband and I are thinking the same thing. OKW is so quiet and relaxing we are really starting to have second thoughts about the split stay. OKW has been just wonderful. I will let you know more about the options at BLT after our move tomorrow but honestly we are just hoping the LV side is much quieter than the MK side of BLT. We had breakfast at the Contemporary this am and we too just kept thinking of the peace and quiet at OKW. I will let you know tomorrow though.

We have spent most of the day at MK. Not very many people here considering it is a holiday weekend. We rode the new version of Space Mountain. It seems very fast and a much smoother ride than the older version. The longest wait we had today was 15 minutes at the Indy Cars everything else was pretty much walk up and on. We have never been this time of year but I think we have found a new favorite time to go. We are going to O'Hanas and then back to the park this evening. DH and DM just can not keep up any longer.

:)My DH & I are owners at OKW & BWVs and when we just want to go and relax, OKW is our first choice. We are looking forward to the refurbishments that will be taking place this year. Have fun!

For quiet exploring hop on the resort boat and go to WL/VWL or to FW. There is also a walking path between the two so you could get off at one and explore and then walk to the other before getting a boat back to BLT/CR. We always make a trip to FW when we are staying at the Bay Lake resorts. :thumbsup2

I KNOW we would always prefer OKW over BLT any day and for any trip. Oh, and for what it's worth, I think I agree with your DH! We use AKV for split stays, and I'm getting so I HATE to pack and unpack the day inbetween. Our next few trips are going to be OKW only for that reason!

We went to Ohana's last pm for dinner. The food was ok but the service was horrible. We have eaten there several times and had great service but this time was really bad. No refills on drinks plus it was a 2 hour meal due to our waiter not bringing anything unles we asked for it. Just the opposite tonight at Les Chef du France. We had the best service yet and the food was to die for. The crowds have not been bad at all until today at Epcot with a 2 hour wait for Soarin and fastpasses gone. They were closing that section of the park this evening for a special event so everyone was trying to get in early. I have a few pictures from our past couple of days. Our check in at BLT today went well. We did online check in and the room was ready by 130.We are on the 9th floor facing North in an even number room. It is great.

I love the pictures you posted. Are you planning on going to the lounge at all? If so I would love to hear how it was and how the availability works out etc?
