Hey everybody... my family is here at AKV after getting out of Jersey early enough to avoid ANY weather. Our drive was awesome. Not much in the way of traffic... left at 5:30 pm and arrived this morning at about 10:00 am. VERY smooth drive for us.

Our impressions with it being our first visit home:

We don't ever want to leave. Seriously... the master bathroom. Amazing. I didn't want to leave the shower.

We are in room 7310 with a nice view of the Sunset Savannah. We've taken some great shots of giraffe, zebras and a few other animals (ostriches, buzzard of some type, some sort of horned creatures).

The weather is a bit chilly... but WAY better than being home where family is being hammered by 18"+ of snow.

The room is PLENTY large enough for the five of us.

We spent the day unpacking and then visited Downtown Disney. We walked around a bit and got to explore, which was nice because we missed that during our first trip.

Had lunch at T-REX which was surprisingly good in the quality of the food. The appetizer sampler was REALLY good (onion rings, quesadillas, bruschetta and chilli cheese dip w/ tortilla chips). I had the lasagne which was good, considering it was sort of like a frozen lasagne. My wife had the chicken salad sandwhich, which she liked. Our son had the slider with cinnamon apples and said it was great, and also got a birthday sundae... that was a highlight, as he embarrassed easily with that. Our daughters each had mac 'n cheese but neither finished it.

After lunch, the kids did a Build-a-Dino at T-REX and each enjoyed that.

Tomorrow we have to 'check out' and then 'check in'... but we're able to keep the same room. Our week includes the deluxe dining plan but our only reservation for tomorrow was cancelled due to weather (Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show). Not really sure what we intend to do quite yet about food tomorrow... but we will be spending the majority of the day in Epcot. May head back here for a bit during the day, but... if not... it'll be an entire day in Epcot.

If anybody's got any questions... I'd be happy to answer when I next check in.

Thanks for reading!

You got out just in time!!:drive: I spent the morning shoveling snow and slush and am now sitting here listening to a roaring wind that sounds like it's going to take my roof off! I should have gotten in the car and headed south!
Have a wonderful trip and be sure and keep us updated as to how it's going - love AKV - just don't mention how "chilly" you might be feeling again!;)

I love AKV! Sounds like Kidani, third floor, first bead out from the lobby? Nice! Take some time to visit the firepit for stories and to explore the resort.

Don't be afraid to hit the pool either - it's over 80 degrees! My son found the key to staying warm when using the slide was to jump in the hot tub at the top, wait for there to be no one at the slide and then zip over and down. It must have worked well because I swear he and his friends did this over 20 times while I (literally) chilled under a pile of towels hoping for him to get too cold for another run.

Sounds awesome. I'm watching the snow fall outside as we speak. We will be checking into Kidani the day after you check out. I'm hoping for warmer weather and the forecast looks good for low-70's. Perfect.

I did online checkin yesterday and called in my room requests. I asked for Sunset Savannah close to Lobby/Pool. I hope we get what I requested, but at this point, I will be thrilled just to BE THERE.

I hope you have a magical time and a safe trip home.

I know what you mean about not wanting to leave. I could just stay at the resort and never go to the parks and be perfectly happy. My friends do not get my obsession with it. Once you stay there you "get it". My next trip is not until next Nov, so I guess I will just have to live vicariously through the boards! I just got back last week!

I would love to know about wait times and crowd size.

Touring plans says this weekend ranks 7 and our trip next month is ranked as having crowd sizes of 6-7 every day.

Got a bit of downtime because of the weather today, so...

Still loving it here. Yesterday we spent the day at Epcot. It was nice. Not much of a wait on the bigger rides early on (Soarin' and Test Track). As the day went on, the Test Track line became longer... but Soarin' wasn't on our radar after we rode it the first time, so... I don't know.

Had a GREAT lunch at Teppan Edo. I'm not a fan of asian food, but... this was OUTSTANDING and very cool to see it cooked in front of us.

Today, we went to breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table... great food and fun with the waiter. The park wasn't busy at all. We walked on to Dumbo, Peter Pan, it's a small world, Pirates of the Carribbean, The Enchanted Tiki Room and then Stitch's Great Escape. The weather got to us a bit at that point though, so we headed back to the room for a little while.

Of course, as we were driving back to the resort, the rain all but stopped... but we'll probably be heading back tonight. Supposed to go to CRT for dinner too, but... not sure how that'll play out as my wife is EXHAUSTED and would like to just stay in for the night, so... we'll see.

All in all... the parks aren't crowded AT ALL... and the wait times (especially today at MK) are non-existant.

Sounds like a good trip so far, except for the weather. Can't wait to here more. We are counting down the days till we are home at AKV next month. So, I'll live vicariously through you for a few days.

Here is a little pixie dust for the weather pixiedust: and a great remainder of your trip.

Thanks for the trip report. It helps deal with all the snow here in SE Pennsylvania. We have never been to AKV so your report is helpful. Our next trip is BCV. Hope the rest of your trip is great. Look forward to your reports. You might as well stay there through March:lmao: as weather here in the NE is supposed to be cold and snowy. Thanks again.:goodvibes

Thanks!

Today actually turned out to be pretty nice (except it was cold still). Right after my previous post, I opened up the curtains to the balcony and it was literally sunny and there were blue skies. It was weird.

We decided to head back to Magic Kingdom and stopped in at the Main Street Bakery. My wife and I had sandwhiches (ham and swiss for my wife... turkey and swiss for me) and we each had an apple turnover. The kids opted to just have some snacks... cupcakes for the girls and a cookie for our son. It was all VERY good.

We managed to hit some rides this afternoon as well. My wife and son went on Stitch's Great Escape... then I got some fast passes for Space Mountain and after we visited the Laugh Floor, I took my son Space Mountain. Of course it was great... our first time on it as it was closed in May for our first trip! So... my son went on with my wife using the Rider Swap passes (we LOVE these!) Then we visited the Ticket and Transportation Authority before heading to the front of the castle for Spectromagic and Wishes.

Our view of Spectro was obstructed by a rather large family, and sadly a lot of the audio was ruined by a rather RUDE family behind us (gonna love watching that in a few years and trying to decipher what's being said about me from behind). Wishes was great... our first time for that too, as we missed it both nights we were there in May. AWESOME! Our favorite so far.

Had dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table... gotta say, it was disappointing. We went in May and it was much different. There was a whole show w/ the Fairy God Mother and the mice back in May... tonight, it was just photo ops with Snow White, Princess Aurora, Ariel and Belle. Don't get me wrong, it was nice... but... not what we booked it for. And the food was equally disappointing. My wife ordered a BLT salad appetizer, the vegetable pasta and the chocolate cream cheese buckle. I ordered the crab cake, pork chop w/ mashed red bliss potatos and the toffee creme brulee.

My wife didn't like a BIT of her meal... my crab cake was good, but I'm not overly into seafood. The pork chop was good when I didn't find tendon-like parts but the potatos didn't do anything for me. And, I'd never had a creme brulee before... but this was pretty good. Certainly different than what I'm used to.

All in all... the day turned out alright. Tomorrow we're headed to Hollywood Studios... but I think we may go late and skip our scheduled breakfast so we can rest up a bit. We're all getting pretty beat.

More tomorrow!

Succasunna is buried in snow. I will be staying at Kidani in July. It will probably be 100 degrees! Is room 7310 a two bedroom? How is it? I requested a room close to the lobby. There will be 10 of us including a 2 yr old. I'm counting down the days... 127. Will you post photos of the savana?

How were the crowds yesterday? My two neices are there for 8 days. They are 4 and 6 and this is their first time at Disney. They are staying at AKL too. Hope the rain goes away quick today.
