Hey girls! Ashley, great idea!!!

I found it :cool1:

I did well until a hunger attack occured at work and ended up ordering out with the group (not SBD approved items). No exercise at all either :guilty:

Today I'm back with it and plan to keep to the plan. Good luck to both of you today :grouphug:

Glad you found it!

Today didn't start out great :( I had four mini chocolate/peanut butter cookies. We got them last night grocery shopping and they are sooo yummy. That was the only "bad" food we got though.

Today I brought an orange, low fat rice cakes, low fat yogurt and a sub made fresh last night. Dinner is carrots and turkey breast. I guess I will try to fit in some type of excercise tonight, even if it's just sittups or something.

Yesterday was a stressful day back to work. Hopefully today will be better. TOM is here this week and I am breaking out horribly. Can't wait for Friday except this weekend is my birthday and I really don't want to celebrate it. Sorry to be cranky. I hope you both have a great day!

Hey Gals!

I am going nuts here! Last night we had a dining club meeting in St. Paul... German food was the menu. Is there any German food that you can eat that doesn't sit like a bunch of bricks?! Then I hiked it home (45 minutes) and went to sleep... best sleep in awhile. DBF, Sam, had to work at 5:45 this morning, so my alarm went off at 4:30... YIKES! I am pooped and heading for a massage (I am blessed with a friend in massage school!!!)

I want this week to be over... I want report cards to send themselves... I want Christmas to be over! Isn't chasing Kindergartners a workout enough? How have I gained since starting this job?! We did, however, go on a walk over to the high school today, so at least I got some steps in. I think I need to find my pedometer again and focus on that small goal to begin with.

Oh goodness... It sounds like life is just catching up with all of us at the same time! Keep being better than the life that is sneaking up on you! Great job on the menu today, Amanda!

I really like having our thread... It's nice!

Thanks and keep smiling,
Ashley

It seems like both of you are having the same problems as my self, the challenge of the lack of time. I have been eating awful this week with no exercise whatsoever. Trying to decide whether to get serious with this or wait till after Xmas to try again :confused3

As your buddy, I am definitely supposed to say "get serious," but I am dealing with the same thing... New Year's always seems like such a good start over time... What to do, what to do?

Ashley

Ok girls, I have been bad about posting and eating :( Today I am going to really start though. I have about 25 lbs to lose (I gained a bit more). We head off to Disney in about a month, but more imporantly, Dh and I decided we are going to start TTC later this year (2006) and I really want to be more healthy than I am now.

Yesterday was my birthday and I was a little piggie!! We had Burger King for breakfast and then went to Macaroni Grill for Dinner and had so much food!!

Today I am going to start weight watchers and definitely going to try and excercise at least 3 days this week. I figure I will start a little at a time. Maybe 3 times this week, 4 times next week. My mom sent me an applebees gift card for my birthday and I was excited to learn they had a weight watchers menu.

How are you girls doing? Be strong and keep up the good work. I have to be better about checking in here so you girls can keep me on track!!

Hey girls! Where have you been?
Things are going well with me. So far since last Thursday, WW has helped me lose 5.5 lbs. That is great considering I am hoping to lose between 20 and 25!! I only cheated one day and that was my birthday. I did an ab routine last night and I am going to do something tonight, just not sure what yet.

Check in and share how you are doing!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

OMG - 5.5lbs since last Thursday???? That is an amazing figure Amanda!

I've been absent because my eating has been horrible. The junk at work has been piling up and I've been eating a ton of it. This month is always the toughest as the goodies keep coming in.

I'm not sure if I should give in to the goodies until Xmas and then start seriously or try to begin now :confused3

Amanda - Could you tell me about your WW plan? I've followed several diets before and some have worked better than others. The SBD has worked well but as soon as I allow the carbs back in I gain it all back again.

::MinnieMo

I am really awful about eating and diets usually too. Don't stay away because you have cheated a little. We are here to help!!

I have tried lots of diets, but I LOVE FOOD. I usually only last a week or two and then start pigging out. We started doing WW ourselves last week (no meetings or anything). I found a chart online that told me I could have 23 points a day and 35 extra points a week (I try not to use them). I then use this caculator to figure out how much everything is. The only day I have really excersiced is last night, but I am trying to get better. This diet doesn't leave me starving. And if I feel munchy or hungry, I have fat free popcorn that is 0 points.

I will give you a sample of yesterdays and todays food choices.

Yesterday:

Breakfast- nothing, which is not normal.

Morning snack- 1 orange (1 pt)

Lunch- 1 can fat free soup (3 or 4 points, can't remember)
2 Peanut butter/chocolate chip rice cakes 3 pts

Afternoon snack-Kudos bar 3 pts

Dinner-

Turkey burger on 1 slice wheat toast with lettuce, tomato, 1/2 slice cheese and dijon mustard (6.5 I think)
1/2 C Mandarin Oranges 1.5 pts

I used all my leftover points on Hershey Kisses. I bet if I hadn't eaten 9 of them I would have lost 1 lbs instead of .5.

Today:

Breakfast- 2 eggs with 1/2 slice cheese- 2 pts

Morning snack- 1 orange 1 pt

Lunch- Field green salad with tomatos, mandarin oranges, chow mein noodles and homemade honey mustard dressing 6 pts

Afternoon snack- 2 Peanut butter/chocolate chip rice cakes 3 pts

Dinner- Turkey Italian Sausage with green beans & brown rice with peanut sauce (I think 6 pts).

I have it all written down at home, sorry for the guesses, but you can see I m eating well. The open face turkey burger last night was to die for!!! Keep up the good work.

Hey Gals! I was just thinking that I should head to bed, then I thought... CHECK IN WITH BUDDIES!

I was thinking maybe we could have a focus question each week and from that set a mini-goal that we would all work on for the week? Or maybe I just need to do that for myself? Or we work on independently?? Example: This week's question could be: What is one thing you notice you need to change? My response would be, "I need to drink more water. I know that I can do it, I have done it in the past, but lately I have been letting myself get to the point of feeling actually thirsty because I haven't had enough." Then, this week I would ask you two to keep me accountable on my water drinking. Another week I might respond that I let work get in the way of my time spent exercising. Then I would ask you to help me remember to schedule in 30 minutes of time each day for myself. The questions can, of course, change each week or whenever necessary...

This is just a little idea that I had about how we can make our "buddy system" more effective and get to know each other and our lifestyles a little bit better. An example that I can think of for Amanda is that maybe we would ask her to share her food journal and points calculations for the week and cheer her on for all of the great work she's doing... Great work!!! I wish I could afford to do something like WW as well as cook for more than one person at a time. Keep it up!!!

I was just thinking that by setting little goals for the week, we could slowly grow into the lifestyle that we want to have... It will also give us something concrete to look back on and help us remember what seemed to give us more energy, more positive feelings, and what times we were truly successful...

I also have a great collection of motivating things that I could use more with our thread! Have I gone too far?

Let me know what you think of my ideas, Buddies! It's getting late and I'm not really tired because we had a SNOW DAY today! Of course, I did marathon cleaning and a bit of shoveling, so hopefully that counts as a workout? It was a nice rest in the middle of the week and hopefully it has helped to knock out this cold that I've been fighting. Now, tomorrow... Back to the kids! (no more germs!)

Take care, and I hope you are both doing great!
Ashley

That sounds like a great idea. I know I need to get more water in too. That and protein (Hi Cam :wave2: ). I have been trying to have eggs for breakfast so I know I at least get a little bit in.

As far as WW, Dh and I didn't actually go and sign up. We don't go to meetings or anything. We found a chart online tht says how many points we get and then there is a calculator that you put in calories, fat and fiber and it tells me how many points. We have a list on the fridge of foods we usually eat.

So far I have lost 7.5 lbs. I am so excited to be under 170 again and can't wait to get under 150!! Here is yesterday's food, I was wayyyy under points.

2 scrambled eggs with 1/2 slice american cheese-2 pts

Fat Free Chicken Noodle Soup- 4 pts

We went to applebees for dinner
French Onion Soup-3 pts
Mesquite Chicken Salad- 2.5 pts (It was actually 5 but it was so spicy I only ate half.)
Chocolate Layer Cake-2 pts (actually 4, but DH and I split it)

I usually have fruit and rice cakes as my snack but I was so busy yesterday. That and I had a handful of kisses (.5 pts a piece).

Keep up the good work girls. What kind of excercise are we doing today? I tried doing crunches last night but I think I pulled a muscle on Monday night. It kept me up all night, every time I rolled over :rotfl: So I will do some crunches, pushups and ....whatever DH gives me to do! HAHA!!

Have a great day and drink lots of water!

Just wanted to ask really quick before I go to work... Where did you find that list and calculator? I would love to try it out with you, especially given your recent success!! I am not even sure where I am on the scale right now? Last year in April (two Aprils ago) I was at 161, then I worked down to 139 by this past April, and now I am guessing to be somewhere around 155 again?! OOPS! I hate that I took that big slide after so much hard work...

Okay, no snow day today, so I'm off to prepare to greet the kids!

Suzy, what have you been up to and how can we help?

I look forward to hearing all about your (SUCCESSFUL) day, Buddies!

Ashley

Here is the point chart

http://www.getting2goal.com/tools/points.php

And here is the calculator.

http://www.alexnolan.net/onlinetools/weightwatcherspointscalculator.htm

I am not sure how 100% accurate it is, but it seems to be working for us. I would love to do this with you. I started out at 175 and would like to get down around 150-155 (I am 5'8"). Years ago I was down in the 140 range but I don't know if I could ever do that again :rotfl:

Hershey kisses are what saves me! That and fat free popcorn. Kisses are only .5 point and the popcorn is free. So if I feel like munching after dinner and I am out of points, I can have popcorn. It's kinda fun to do. Sometimes I find out how many points something is, and I decide it's not worth it for that many. I also like rice cakes. Mine are peanut butter/popcorn and are only 1.5 each. I eat an orange or apple every day (an apple is .5 and an orange is 1).

This website is great for figuring out points on things like fruit, veggies and meats. Type the food in at the top and it will give you all the nutrional information so you can put it in the calculator.

http://www.nutritiondata.com/

Have a great day!

Amanda - Those are neat websites. I like the idea of the points but I think it would take me forever to figure out points for everything. Do you know if there is a chart anywhere?

Ashley - My DS had a late start yesterday and a planned early out so they were only in school for 2.5 hours. He was like this :Pinkbounc over that :rotfl:

Okay confession time buddies - I've been doing just awful with the whole eating/exercise thing. The goodies keep piling in at work and I keep on piling them down. With only a week to go until a planned week shut down I may just give into the goodies until after Xmas.

Hmmm, wonder if this was a sign, one of our subcontractors just brought in a ton of fresh fruitss. They smell wonderful! I might just be able to stay away from those goodies after all :teeth:

As for exercise - my hip/back issue is making it impossible to even walk on the treadmill without pain. After the 1st of the year I plan on seeking a specialist to see what can be done.

Hope you both have a great day. Nice to here from both of you :wave2:

::MinnieMo

I am not sure about a chart, but I think you can find a book. LIke I said, Dh and I do a running list on the fridge and it takes only 2 seconds to look up a new food.

Holidays are tough to get started with eating right, but even a little bit helps.

Morning girls!! I am so excited, down 8.5 lbs!!! I really thought I gained because I kinda pigged out on kisses last night. I have been really good about only eating a few and counting those points. But last night, I just grabbed a handful and chowed down :rotfl: It was worth it though, even if I had gained.

Hope you both have a great day. It is really cold and icy here so it should be a fun ride into work. I am off to eat breakfast.

Hey, Amanda! Just wanted to say congratulations and that your PM mailbox is full. You need to get rid of some messages so you can get more! :teeth:

Wow!!!!!!! Congrats Amanda :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I hope both of you had a wonderful weekend :sunny:

I have decided to eat what I want until Xmas is over and then I'm cleaning my house of all the junk, getting back on a real eating plan, and getting to the DR to get my hip/back/leg fixed so that I can exercise again.

Hope you all have a gerat Monday :cheer2:
