YAHOO! Graduation is May 15th, and I'm really gearing up, just got the invitations folded tonight and they'll get names etc this weekend. Can't wait! So, as some of you may remember, I've been waiting back to hear from the two grad schools I applied to for a while, which is pretty odd. I finally had some calls placed to check in on my apps, only to find out that one of my teachers didn't send any of my letters of recommendation (she didn't send them for anyone this year I found out later), which kinda left me screwed. Thankfully, one of the schools agreed to consider me based upon the two recommendations they had, saying that they were complete enough to give them enough info (I got a 3rd in later that week, I LOVE this one grad student teacher I have) and she also faxed in one to the other school. Now to the real news-I have an interview at the second school on Friday! I am so excited! The other school doesn't do interviews, so I'll just have to hope for the best. The school I have the interview at says they're only having 10 openings this year, and they've verbally offered them, but not all 10 will accept, and, pending my interview, I'll be placed at #1 on the waiting list because I'm the strongest candidate they have seen on paper this year! That made me feel super!! Thanks for reading, just had to share!

Way to go! Good luck on your interview, I know you'll do fine!

i was a bit scared during my grad school process, but it went fine and after a few years I was completed.

Hope that you get in!!! Had a thought on the recommendations. It sounds like on paper (and therefor in real life!!) you are a great candidate but have been hurt by the lack of recommendation. did this professor tell you that she would do one? I ask because most colleges are very very protective of their stats on getting into grad schools. I would make sure that the administration knows that occurred so that they can protect other students in the future. You sound fairly calm about it, so maybe it was a misunderstanding but if you really thought she had sent one in, I would let the school know.

Yeah she did. She said that she would do it, and I took her word. When one school contacted me and said they hadn't received two of my letters, I was sure that they had lost both, since one of the teachers had emailed me the day she mailed them, so I knew she had sent them. She faxed her copy, and when I went to the other teacher she said that she definitely remembered sending it and said she'd send a copy immediately. That school never received the original or the copy, and another school never received one either.

The way I see it, if she didn't want to do it, all she had to do was say no that she didn't have time, or she didn't know me well enough, etc, etc, etc-there are a million ways to get out of it! The grad student that I had write my other ones was going to the head of the department about it, so it will be reported. I'm only calm about it because I got mad already-I don't stay mad long about anything, so I'm over it, I found out over a week ago now.

Thanks for the encouragement and ideas guys!!

Well, isn't that great. I do hope so very much that you get what you want, I am sure you will. It is so nice to feel the confidence you exude in yourself, that's great. My best, Aurora.

Well I just got a call saying that my first interview is at 9:30am! Normally that wouldn't be so bad, but since it's at least an hour and a half drive, that's going to be an EARLY morning...I'm so not nice in the morning if I have to get up early so I'm REALLY going to need caffeine....ugh and rush hour traffic in Asheville....Ok, happy thoughts. :teeth: I have 3 interviews, one with each of the faculty members and I meet with some grad students and get to talk to them and they take me on a campus tour.

I also got new clothes to wear this weekend, so I'm just excited overall and ready to get down there!
