Well, hello eveyone, Ive been back for.. oh... 7 hours. And very disturbed at part of my hotel. In pop century, theres the main building with the 50's-90's.

As many of you will notice, that makes it pop half-century. The classic years.

However, on a stroll with my cousin, we happened across a bridge called the Generation Gap. Well, silly me, I assumed a bridge meant you were led somewhere.. more like.. led to shrubbery. :P

So, if you peer past the shrubs, you see..

THE CREEPIEST BUILDING OF ALL TIME!

After a little investigation, it seems that the building was supposed to be part of the pop century called the "legendary" years, but somethings wrong and they never finished it. They don't know if they ever will..

Sorry, I thought that was cool/creepy.

Anyone else have any random cool things about WDW?

Oh also an update - Space mountain = closed.

I've seen the pop century building going by on a bus. :thumbsup2
Hmm little things I notice....There is a sky writer who writes things in the sky....I have seen writing in the sky 2 times. Once in Oct., and once in May of last year. He writes things like, Jesus loves you.... stuff like that...
Also If you stand at an angle at the drinking fountain by Cinderella's castle, it looks like she is wearing a crown.
BTW! It's my first post! Yay:goodvibes

When did you take those? I was at the Pop Century Resort for the MVMCP, and I saw the same building. When we were looking at it, they were actually working on it, and my dad was saying something about it going to open some time in 2009

They're supposed to turn that building into more family suites like at AllStar Music. Rumor was they were waiting to see if the new rooms at the AllStar were a success (I think they are). Then there's another rumor that when they're finished constructing Bay Lake Towers, they'll resume construction on Legendary Years, and it will another DVC resort. And the most recent rumor is that POP will be rebranded as Disney's Animation Inn and Suites with the Legendary Years section becoming 2 and 3 bedroom Family Suites. Whichever way, we're looking at family rooms.

Ya I've seen that building during a few of my many trips to PC!
I wish they'd flippin finish it!!!! I'd LOVE to stay there!!!!
But I think it's a lost cause. sad sad.

Also sad sad is that SM was closed. BOOOOO!!

Also GET YO PICS ON FACEBOOK ASAP GIRL!! I'm jonesin' for some WDW!

i take back my caps lock.

i just saw that they're already up. teehee

if you go to Fort Wilderness, you can walk by the entrance to River Country. It's pretty cool, they still got a bunch of stuff there.

Yeah, there are a lot of rumors going around about when the Legendary Years will be finished, or if they ever are. They halted production after 9/11 when so many people stopped travelling, and never had a good reason to continue building. There really isn't a need for another entire resort. It's also has to be growing mold and all sorts of other nasty things.

Last September, we were on the POP Century bridge that was made to link the two parts of the resorts. It was at night and one side of the resort was so vibrant, energetic, and glittering, and the other side was dark and delapitated. It was really sad, it actually made me tear up. Even if they do finish it, I could never stay there.

Something I notice everytime I go, people don't realize that at the counter service restaurants, both sides of the register are open. People all gathar at one side, and when I hop over to the other side they will glare at me. It's not my fault that people are too dumb to notice the 2 seperate lines!

LOL. What would they put in it though? Like theres alot of defining moments from the 50's to the 90's. i guess you could put the war in 1940.. o_o

Yep, the Legendary Years. They abandoned building a while ago.

This is from the POP thread:
LEGENDARY YEARS (1910’s – 1940’s)

Ironically, Generation Gap Bridge from Classic Years' property leads to a ghost town, just like you may have seen in the early 1900’s (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSc1fG0ETeY). You can walk across the bridge. Once you are off the bridge, it dead-ends with landscaping, which becomes a natural barrier to walking on the land for the Legandary Years as that's prohibited.
Construction was abandoned after 9.11.2001 due to uncertainly of tourism demands

Property is now considered “backstage”; the parking lot there is used by CMs for training and staging
Reconstruction and grand opening date unknown, however, in April 2008, DISer baileybelle had spoken to two manager Cast Members who told her that within the next 2-3 years, the Legendary Years side was going to be finally finished. They indicated that due to the successful demand at ASM, this section of the resort would be made into family suites like ASM has today instead of the original plan to make these rooms like the Classic Years.
November 2008 is unveiling some interesting pieces of information, like building permits, that may or may not change the face of Pop Century Resorts. Check out this article by Jim Hill Media regarding Disney Animation Inn & Suites.

Uhm, I have no idea. I'm sure there are lots of things to put in there, we're just too young to know what they are. ;)

Something I found out during my Keys to the Kingdom tour:

There's a little side street on the right side of Main Street (by the Crystal Arts place) and one of the upper floor windows is labeled as a dance studio. At random times during the day, you can hear the sounds of tap dance in that side street.

most of flags on top of the buildings are lightning rods. some are missing a star or stripe so they dont have to take them down at night.:thumbsup2

The Madame Leota tombstone in the HM is dedicated to Leota Tombs. an immaginer that worked on the Haunted Mansion.
she is also seen in the crystal ball inside the Seiance room but its NOT her voice. Disney thought her voice was too sweet so they had someone else do her voice. she is also seen as little leota...that is her REAL voice.

thats all im going to tell you. ill spoil the magic if i told you what the guide told me as we were riding the Haunted Mansion.:goodvibes

i was there several weeks ago, and there is not currently nor has there been since 2001 any work preformed on the legendary years. the project is abandoned until further notice, according to wdw.

river country is actually currently being gutted. the standing forms are being moved to become part of a themed pool at a resort.

Actually, it is her voice- but it isn't her face. The face that the hologram is laid over is actually her daughter's.

Also- there's a gravestone for Mr. Toad in the pet cemetary outside the exit to HM.

There's a deserted island that we always pass while on the boats at the Wilderness Lodge. It used to be called "Discovery Island" but they closed it after Animal Kingdom opened and moved all of the animals over there. One of the areas of AK was actually named after it, really.

I'll let you all guess at what the name is. ;)

Here's what it USED to look like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WERBqrQfQS4

Now it's just over-run with birds. Looks kind of scary, actually. But interesting all at the same time.

I also noticed that in the Kilimanjaro safari, there are literally hundreds of giant black birds just...there. And the guides never say anything about them, and when asked, they just ignore the question and refuse to acknowledge that the birds even exist. :lmao:

Ghost birds!!! :rotfl:

By the Indiana Jones show in DHS is a well and rope with a sign that says "Do Not Pull" over the rope and the "not" is crossed out. I don't know what it does but when we go to Star Wars weekends next month I'm pulling it! Please, no spoilers.

Also- there's a gravestone for Mr. Toad in the pet cemetary outside the exit to HM.

I ate dinner with the imagineer who made this cute addition - Alex, the lighting director at MK. He said that he kept it a secret from all of the CMs and snuck in and added it for Halloween to spook everyone!
