Little Smokies

Little Smokies in BBQ sauce are a tasty snack but I prefer a big bowl of Queso with chips.

Lil Smokies are the best way to make Pigs in a Blanket. They are a staple of Christmas at mom’s house in GA.

and are going on my shopping list . . .

Lil smokies are the bomb. But I really love Big Mama sausages and a couple cold ones.

Grew up in Washington, familiar with Lil Smokies. I am not a grape jelly fan, so that is not how I make them, but I have been to many a potluck where they were made that way. My preferred way is to get a can of cheap, refrigerated biscuits, cut the biscuit in half and wrap it around the sausage, like pigs in a blanket. Pop them in the oven to cook the biscuits, and then serve with barbecue sauce.

And yes, we have had them during self-isolation. They are a cheap and easy lunch. I live in Colorado, and don't have a problem finding them, so people here must eat them too.

Yes. It is currently a brand under Tyson Foods.

I figure if it's a big national packaged meat brand, it's got to be Tyson, Smithfield, Hormel, or Conagra. Except maybe Oscar Mayer, and they're owned by a large food conglomerate.

Johnsonville is a privately owned Wisconsin-based meat company.

I can find them locally, but they're not that big. Certainly not Hillshire Farm big.

We have some local brands that didn't sell out. I'm pretty sure that Evergood, Miller's, and Aidells aren't that well known outside of Northern California. Saag's did sell out to Hormel and now they're gone.

They are the largest sausage producer in the US and according to Wiki, the largest sausage brand in revenue, available in more than 45 countries. That isn't chump change.

We have little smokies here in Maryland. My kids love them. We also have lots of old bay flavored things (chips, kettle corn, lunch meat, etc.) i

I saw something that stated that Hillshire Brands had an annual revenue of about $4 billion, but that includes several brands. Can't be too sure of what Tyson has done after they bought it.

mmmm.. chili sauce + grape jelly little smokies? Why have I never heard of this. Sounds amazing! Is it the thai chili sauce that you get in a big squeeze container at the grocery store?

Those other things? Never heard of them o_O

Oh yeah... the mayo "salads" what have essentially no salad..

As for the bacon wrapped smokies, they are oh so delicious, but even in social isolation, no one has time for that!!! :D

Missouri I could see. WA? I had no idea! My aunt lives near Tacoma.. I'll have to call and see if she has any good Little Smokies recipes...
No, not thai chili sauce - this kind. It's not really a spicy dish:

Question: are "little smokies" inherently any different than any other types of cocktail weenies?
::yes::vI was wondering myself. We call all miniature sausages here cocktail weenies, no matter what the variety. Other than canned Vienna Sausages, cocktail weenies aren't always available but do show up routinely in stores around the holidays.

I live in Ontario but don’t recall ever seeing chilli sauce like that here

If you don’t use it for anything maybe you’ve just never noticed? It’s usually shelved with the ketchup, not with the Frank’s and Siracha and whatnot. It’s not a hot sauce. President’s Choice (SuperStore) and Compliments (Sobey’s) are both store brands of the same thing.

I’ll take a look for curiosity sake, I work in a grocery store and the department I’m in is next to that section so I literally stare at that aisle all day 😂
