I would like to know more about the

"little known facts" (Thanks, Cliff Clavin!)

that make WDW resorts so special!

The things that happen in the resorts that are open to everyone to enjoy or unusual things to see in the resorts.

The Torch Lighting Ceremony at the Poly takes place at 6 pm. When we last saw it, there was an authentic blowing of the conch and fire dancers as a special treat!

There is a piano player in the Grand Floridian lobby, not sure of times, though, it seems evening hours.

There is a geyser at Wilderness Lodge that has a blast every hour on the hour.

What else? :)

well here's a little known fact for ya: the polynesian, the contemporary and the wilderness lodge are three resorts that have never been in my kitchen.

i have no idea what that means.

FACT: at all the Deluxes you can have turndown service even if you are now staying at concierge, all you have to do is request.

I never been able to do it, but I do know that the yacht and beach club have movie nights where you sit and watch them on the beach. A friend of mine told me they got to see the little Mermaid once.

Being the flag family at WL (ask at check in)

Getting a wooden nickel at WL's WCC

Getting a second fast pass for another ride an hour later after you got your previous one.

Using a FP the same day- but after the time limit has passed.

Sending a package of goodies to ones self before arriving at your resort.

(maybe not all resort related ...sorry)

Bradk- Too funny. I remember that episode. For bell of the ball, bradk was referencing Cliff Clavin and an episode of cheers where he went on Jeopardy!because LuluLovesDisney wanted some of Cliff's little known facts. The final jeopardy answer was "Archibald Leach, Bernard Schwartz and Lucille LeSueur" and Cliff bets all his money, $52,000, on his response "Who are three people who have never been in my kitchen?"

My favorite to-dos at the resorts...looking at the MK and lagoon from the hammocks at the Poly and GF, walking along the path from the TTC to Poly or Poly to GF, playing board games at the BW bar.

Wonders of the Lodge tour at WL.

Riding "up front" in the monorail.

Walking around POFQ, its so beautiful. Or take the boat to DTD. You'll get to see the Treehouse Villas.

Nightly movies at FW campfire.

Electrical Water Parade nightly on Bay Lake
Walks on the nature trail from the WL to FWC:goodvibes
Renting a boat to tool around on Bay Lake and scoot over to the Magic Kingdom
Watching the fireworks from the Balcony of Your Room
Having leftover counter service credits to buy the cute guy infront of you lunch;)
Going to pay for your lunch and the cute guy behind you pays with his extra counter service:rotfl:
Sitting by the fireplace on the second floor of the lodge sipping hot chocolate from my 5 year old WL mug after watching Wishes with a hat and gloves since it was a balmy 29° and brezzy in Orlando that night at 9:00 PM.
Oh and I almost forgot this one.
Dropping off my luggage in Newark, hopping off the plane in MCO to catch a motor coach that happens to be going to the WL free of charge and then my luggage miraculously appearing again after I check into my room. Gotta love the Magic of Disney:wizard:

Favorite episode of Cheers ever. Jeopardy is also my favorite game show. Don't worry, I got it!

If you've never been to Fort Wilderness during the Christmas holiday season, it's really a site to see. We went there for dinner one night and were amazed at how the Christmas decorations of the campers were better than anything we ever put up on our house. It's amazing to see all of the lights.

We usually stay at BC but always stop at the pool bar at Poly just to have a drink and relax. Sometimes we catch the light parade.

in the evening at poly, they have a guy come in and sing hawaiian songs (my favorite is when he sings the hawaiian version of somewhere over the rainbow)
the week leading up to christmas, poly serves cookies and hot chocolate in the loby and they have carolers come to sing to the hotel guests (the cookies and hot chocolate are so great on christmas eve; my family- all 17 of us- got back from mk on christmas eve and got some and sat infront of the hotel christmas tree listening to music and giving eachother christmas gifts)

that's not quite true. you can get another set of FPs at the time indicated by 'next available FP' time printed on the last set acquired. it could be anywhere from now to 2 hours later depending on the circumstances.

Ability to send packages back to the hotel, less to carry around all day, no need to wait until the very end to go shopping!

What's wrong with Mr. Claven?
Woody, you'd be upset too if you bet all of your money.

Remember when the food court staff would dance at POP?

I've never stayed there or witness this, but I've heard at AKL they have a kids parade every few hours?

Also, not sure if they do it all of the time, but at CBR, the lifeguards have scavenger hunts and prizes for kids. (We've done it on two different trips.)

At POR, they used to have fishing poles you could rent...not sure if they still do.:confused3
