My DD is not yet 5 and loves VMK. She will sit with me and watch and often directs where I sit and what I wear.

She is getting to be a wiz on the computer and yesterday I unleashed her with with an empty room and my furniture collection and she furnished her own room. She has a computer program for kids where you decorate Cinderellas Castle and the furniture placement is quite similar to VMK so she already understood the basic concept. She isn't really reading yet so this was quite an accomplishment.

I put a rope over the door and said in the room description that is was my kid playing and not to come in. leave her alone to play. Most people did and she spent a happy half hour playing VMK her self.

So if you have little kids this is a fun way to get them involved.

Lisa,
My girls (ages 8 and 6) also love this game. The younger one is beginning to read, and is starting to pick up on the lingo.. she will say hi to someone over and over! LOL They both also love arranging rooms. It's good practice for them to get used to using a mouse!

Hey my DS is 8 and probably would not like that program...don't know why :rotfl:

But I would!!!!! what is the name of it???

thanks

Mal

My dd, KutiePetutie, would love a program like that too- so please share the name- she has a birthday coming up next month...

she plays VMK very similar to what you said your dd does- she loves to go to her rooms and rearrange them and decorate them and change her clothes- and now she will venture more around VMK- loves looking at the decorations on main street

As for games- she mixes pretty good songs and likes to dance too- and she can crash boats like a pro- lol...

My little guy is 6 and he loves to play VMK. He does have his own character. He is not allowed to trade or add friends without me there, but does have a Great time with furniture and costumes. He was absolutely THRILLED that I Was able to get him a diver suit and a space suit recently.

So yes, the little ones have a great time with it too. Maybe your DD is gonna be wanting a character of her own soon! Time to start buying 2 of everything, LOL..

It is called Cinderellas Castle Designer. I got it at Disney but you could check out disneyinteractive.com

They have one where you design Princess Dresses and another to dress up Princess Horses. It is Royal Horse Show and I can't give you the exact name of the dress one I loaned it to a friend.

My just turned 5 yr old likes to play also. He used to play on my account and liked to move me around and furnish the rooms. Since my character is a girl, I made him his own. I gave him all the costumes I had extra and lots of stuff. He loves it. He likes to wander around VMK. I put in his signature "will not do trades" and has only had a couple of trade requests. I am sitting with him when he plays, so I just decline them.

My dd's signature says no trades and no friends and something along the lines of "I'm too little for you don't ask to be my boyfriend" at least it did at one time lol and another time it said "I don't type well enough to chat or trade so don't think I'm rude when I ignore you" or something along those lines...

My youngest ds- plays on my lap he likes me to go to anything with lots of colors and movement- so we go Nedding together and he enjoys listening to the mixes- and although he has a character at 1.5 he's a bit too young to manage on his own- yet

of course at 2 my oldest ds was logging on to a computer and getting into programs (this was pre point and click loading) but he's always been computer geered there... and now as a HS Senior he is planning a college major of computer engineering and wants to design video games- he gets the advantage of getting to meet the guy who invented some of the design components for all video games- don't ask who or what exactly- I just know the guy is the brother of one of dh's employees and he's a gazillionaire lol- and when he heard about ds's interest he said he'd love to meet him

oh my 7 y/o DD will love the castle game. Thanks for sharing that.
She loves playing fireworks, J/C and music game. She was so excited when I gave her my extra crown a few weeks ago, but had sooo many trade requests (some were very rude) that she finally took it off. I had even written no trades in her sig line, but it didn't help.
Her favorite thing to do is change clothes and shop for new ones! It is so funny. She comments all the time "they need more shoes on VMK". Thats a bad sign, huh? lol
I haven't let her decorate a room yet, boy she'll love that! Great idea.
VMK makes a great "reward" for homework & room cleaning and attitude!

My DS is 6 and absolutely loves VMK. He has his own person that he made in the park in June. He really just likes to play around in his room and go to the music game. Not I already taught him to ignore any trades and not to talk to people that don't say dis :rotfl: As soon as I make a mule for some shopping money, I am going to add him to the Dis Kids network of telelporters and see how that goes. I think it is great for the kids to get their own Disney fix away from the parks.

I like the idea of roping off the room so your DD can play! Cute!

My 8 yr. old DS plays VMK. Usually we are on at the same time and he likes to play pirates or fireworks together. He also likes Toon Town, but only gets his 4 free hours a month because I won't pay for it. DD (6) likes Disney Blast (the parts Comcast offers free). Even our 3 year old will play some Disney Blast and cd games... Barbie Rapanzul is a big hit.. and we have a Disney Princess one but I can't remember which.

Just a plug here, but in addition to this program, your children might like to be in the DIS kids teleporter network. It would not only allow them their play to decorate their room, but give then a chance to see other DIS kid's rooms, and even play together 'designing' rooms. (btw, the rooms are color coded, to facilitate the youngest non-readers.)

The rooms will be roped off, as I have found a few too many non-DIS kids coming in to explore, and if a parent wants in, they can use our own teleporter network hub to enter the kids network (thank you CL_Bezoar for setting that up)!

Please feel free to check with CL_Tigressjewel or myself to see for yourself how this works. You might find your children having a blast designing each others rooms, and making friends. (haha my two cents there) :goodvibes
