we're traveling to the Grand Floridian next month and are NOT going to be getting a rental car this time. i'm going to have to have milk and other staples for the kids. does anyone know what/ where you go and HOW to get to a convenience store when you only have Disney transportation? do they have quick shuttles to a store or anything?
thanks

You can arrange for a grocery delivery. WeGoShop (www.wegoshop.com) and Garden Grocer (www.gardengrocer.com) are stand-alone delivery services that will shop anywhere you want them to. Gooding's (www.goodings.com) is a local supermarket that also delivers.

I've used Gooding's twice and have been completely satisfied, and I've read many posts from satisfied WeGoShop and Garden Grocer customers here on the DIS. In fact, I can't recall reading any posts about ANY of these 3 from dissatisfied customers.

we went in october and about a week prior, I shipped a box with diapers, wipes, raisins, cheerios, goldfish, zip lock bags, plastic untensils, cereal bars, etc, etc, down. It was fantastic! I loved that we did this. We were at the yc so picked up milk at the little market at the bw (also one at the bc). not sure if there is something similar at the gf?

I've never stayed at the Grand Floridian, but there are small (but well stocked) convenience stores both at Old Key West and at Saratoga Springs. I would imagine there would be somewhere to get basic staples on-site. I've also ordered from Garden Grocer - wonderful service.

When DD was 9months we used a towncar on the way in to get diapers, wipes, baby food. This past time we just checked everything. DH and I always got milk with our counter service meals and used it for DD, so we always had enough.

However, we also had an episode at the GF where we were stranded when the monorail broke and, even though we were staying at POP, the GF concierge DROVE US to CR for a dinner reservation. So, they may really bend over backwards for their guests. You could call and ask.

I doubt they'd arrange for a free trip to the grocery store, LOL! Every resort on property that I've stayed at sells milk in their stores/food court. It is pricey. They sell diapers too, but also for $$$. I'd just pack the diapers in the luggage, and use the extra space afterwards for the souvenirs. That's what we always did.
