My friend is going to DL next week and wants to bring in a little cooler on wheels with food for her family, into the park. Do they allow this? :confused3

I pulled this from mousesavers.com (http://www.mousesavers.com/dlmeals.html) and found it to be my experience as well. I have brought in very small (maybe 8x10x8 soft coolers).
Personally, I would think a wheeled cooler, especially if hard-sided, would not be allowed, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure.

MOUSESAVERS INFO:
Officially, Disney asks that no outside food or drink be brought into the theme parks. The official policy reads: "With the exception of food items for Guests with specific dietary restrictions, food or beverage items are not permitted into either of the Disneyland Resort theme parks." You absolutely will NOT be allowed to bring in the following: hard-sided coolers, large coolers, glass containers, or alcoholic beverages.

Unofficially, the "no outside food" policy is not stringently enforced. Bags are searched, but a few items in a small (6-pack sized) soft-sided cooler (such as sandwiches, crackers, granola bars, juice boxes, sealed/unopened plastic bottles of water) will be ignored. For some reason they will not allow you to bring in unassembled sandwich makings (such as bread and peanut butter, even in a plastic jar) but preassembled sandwiches seem to be no problem.

If you eat your snack/meal very discreetly, without using park resources (e.g. taking up a table at a restaurant without buying anything) and you don't make a mess, no one will say anything to you. If you would rather not risk it, there is a designated picnic area outside the gates of Disneyland, and there are lockers available that are large enough to store a moderate-sized cooler.

I've read numerous post over the years that have all said that things pulled behind you are not allowed into the parks like wagons and your friends cooler.

They can get a locker outside the parks but no, this cooler will not be allowed in.

The lockers the previous posters have mentioned are large and very convenient. They are a super quick walk from either park, and the picnic area where they are located is a nice place to eat.

For some reason they will not allow you to bring in unassembled sandwich makings (such as bread and peanut butter, even in a plastic jar) but preassembled sandwiches seem to be no problem.
For those wondering why this is, it is a matter of California law. They could actually have all food locations that they operate shut down if they allowed preparation of food in areas that are not designated for it. And since you do not have access to their kitchens, you would be assembling the sandwiches (which the health board has decreed is preparing food, even if everything is precut) in an area that is not approved for doing so.

Obviously selling food is key to Disneyland's business, so they enforce the rule rather strictly to avoid the health board coming down on them.

Now, I have to admit that this law makes no sense, after all when I order a burger from any of the fast food locations, I take it apart and add my condiments to it, then put it back together. Somehow this is seen by the health board differently than assembling the sandwich the first time around. :confused3

Got to love our laws out here. :lmao:

They will allow you to put it in the lockers by the picnic area near the trams. They won't allow you to drag it through the park.
