I was doing my reading for my disney thesis today and I found this out....
The bouncing mickey head/ball over the lyrics in the disney sing-along videos comes from the first disney films to have music played with them.
They would project an animated bouncing ball onto the musician's sheet of music to ensure that the musician got the timing exactly right for the animation. Ub Iwerks (the guy who first drew Mickey Mouse) wanted to make sure the animation and the sound were exactly coordinated.
