Admittedly, I was never a big fan of The Happy Goodman Family, but certainly appreciated their contributions to Southern Gospel Music.

I scanned a few pages and have not noticed anyone mentioning that Vestal Goodman passed away Saturday evening.

I am listening to the syndicated program Solid Gospel right now and they are doing a tribute to her..songs, interviews, etc.

Oh, no!!!

It's so sad that we're losing so very many of the "superstars" from the glory days of Southern Gospel...

I last saw Vestal perform in January 2003. She was still a feisty old gal, and still belting out those songs from her heart.

WHOA!

I certainly would have expected to have heard about that on Sunday morning, but no one said a word. We're not a BIG southern gospel style church, but I know many people there are, including our Pastor of Fine Arts.

Well, at least we know where she's at.

Is that the woman who died in Central FL ?

Yes, she had gone for a concert I believe and had just began the onset of flu they think. Her family noticed her lips and tips of fingers turning blue and took her to a Central Florida hospital, but I did not get any other details.

I had not heard this. :( She was such a precious blessing through her singing. It was so obvious to me that she believed what she sang. I will miss her.
