Our first MNSSHP (many years ago), we did not know that tickets sold out. At that time, it was limited to 10.000 people. We were lucky enough that the manager was able to get us two tickets. Over the years, we have seen the crowds grow and some things change (like the old story teller in Liberty Square - poor Icabar Crane who is now gone). Any there was no 4 banding - 7 it started and that was that.

There are alot of people who do not realize about making reservations at some of the "popular" restaurants - oh, I can get in, it can't be that busy, they will find us a table, etc.... We hear alot of mis-information from what attractions are in what park, how to get from park to park, and whatever and there are people who you just can't tell them anything different. They have to learn the hard way. If they don't at least listen if you tell them otherwise, just think of them aimlessly wandering around looking for the Harry Potter! Sometimes, we just have to laugh.

well, the last one has/had some truth to it...
MNSSHP/MVMCP used to only have around 250 tix alloted. not sure if that's still true because i haven't attended a party in many years..

Ha!!! Wouldn't that be something. I think I was in a candy line with about 250 other people once last year. LOL

Yeah, there is no way MK ever stayed open just for 250 people for a party. It's not cost effective. The only way that would be possible is if a corporation rented it out and payed big bucks to cover all of the operation expenses, and I don't think they would do that for 250 people.

ETA... I had a friend tell me once that I should look into the F&W package online. I was like, "what's that????" As I go every year, and have never heard of that, I was very intrigued. She proceeded to tell me that there's a ticket that you can buy as your entrance ticket for $75 and that it includes ALL your food and drinks at F&W.

I just looked at her, and said, "let me know how that works out for you".

You have to remember, this was YEARS ago.. the parties weren't as popular as they are now and they weren't as well advertised..They weren't losing customers because the parties started after closing back then, so it's highly feasable that the cap was significantly lower. I have a picture somewhere of MS right before the parade and it was desolate with maybe 20 people within eye view. they didn't even have dedicated character spots like they do now, characters actually wandered.

I don't think anyone is doubting you that the cap was lower when they first started the party, but 250 is just not realistic.

Talking about party numbers, I don't know how many were there with us but I can tell you our experience at MVMCP. Around 9:30pm we exited PotC, walking towards the Hub and DH said "Um, where is everybody?". From where we stood around Aladdin looking around Adventureland, we couldn't see a soul except for CM's. It was awesome!

My SIL swears you can get a great deal on DVC if you walk in to the DVC sales center while on vacation. When we recently added on AKV points, via resale, she kept suggesting we go to DVC center on our Jan WDW trip and that they would give us a 'great deal' since they were about to start selling Villas at Grand Floridian and would want to clear out the AKV inventory. They think they did that when Bay Lake was about to open for sale (but really they over paid). 1st off there is no negotiating when buying DVC direct...you pay what is advertised and that is $145pp for AKV right now (they do offer an incentive right now of about $2300 off, we bought 100 points, so that would be $23 off pp, still making it $122pp direct)...we just bought AKV via resale at $66pp.

Same SIL is telling my MIL that 12/20 MVMCP is going to be no crowds and an empty park and well worth the $76pp (on top of already purchased park tickets). My MIL is excited to get there and do everything from about 7-8:30pm since they are flying in at 6am and she doesn't think she can make it until midnight (or past 9pm). I think it's going to be a madhouse since it's the last MVMCP and I think they sell way more than the 20,000 tickets my SIL is saying they sell. 20K people in the MK is not bad....but I think there will be way more than that.

The only thing I'll say is that a friend of mine was there on the last day of the party last year, and she said it felt empty. Told me they literally felt like they were the only ones there.

A friend just told me with an air of superiority, knowing we are going in November, that tickets just had a HUGE price jump from $40 to $70.

I told him that actually, the tickets were closer to $90/person.

He now thinks we have more money than common sense.

Aw man, some of the stuff you hear is just ridiculous!! Especially traveling solo, you have those extra minutes to overhear things, and it's hilarious! I usually try to keep my comments to myself while in the parks, unless people are legit confused. When at MVMCP last year there was a family that wasn't really sure what the wristbands "got them" and were looking for food somewhere and I helped them out a lot, but usually I'll keep to myself. If I'm at home however, it's a different story, I'll usually jump in to correct people or help them out, especially if they're in the planning stages still!

Actually I like watching Wishes from Tomorrowland...so stop giving my secret away! I know I don't get the view with the Castle, but it is pretty much empty and I'm right there to jump on SM before the crowd comes back to Tomorrowland.

Around here not that many people go, so I never hear people giving out misinformation. Except my husband. And you can't blame since he doesn't read Disboards daily like I do. He was on the phone with his sister before their trip last fall. He told her they could use FP after the expiration...so I holler "not anymore!" Then he tells her they have to ride Test Track...so I say "it'll be closed!"

So then he tells her she can just talk to me at the next family dinner

Actually, it is 22K - 40K, depending on the night.
