There's been some discussion about how FP+ has increased standby lines and that seems to definitely be the case on attractions where the FP+ line has its own loading area, like on Pirates of the Caribbean. That means if there's nobody in the FP+ line, the boats on that side go forward without anybody in them while people in the standby line are waiting.

Can we put together a list of rides where the FP+ line works like that which could help people prioritize which FP+ reservations they want to get?

I've never personally seen that happen. On multiple occasions on both Pirates of the Caribbean and Space Mountain, I've seen guests moved from the standby line to the FP+ line anytime the queue on the FP+ side got too low.

Yeah, I'm with you. I can think of a lot of different attractions with multiple loading areas, but I can't think of any where there isn't the ability to direct the standby and FP+ queues into either one....

I agree. This is what I saw happen when we were visiting for two weeks earlier this month. I never saw the FP+ line get too low without allowing standby guests to fill in.

Technically the FP+ line is only prior to the merge point. Anything past that is a mix of FP+ and standby and it can depend on the CM at the merge point as to how mixed it is.

We used Pirates and at the "merge" point the two of us (there was no one else) were stopped and made to wait while many boat loads of folks were sent our way. Pirates wasn't that busy and they practically emptied out the standby line into the FP+ side unnecessarily ........... we felt the FP+ was pointless.
