Monday 2nd January
Arrived at park nice and early as usual to avoid some of the crowds. Unfortunately everyone else had the same idea. We headed for RnR only to be told it was closed until 10.30 so grabbed fastpasses for later and went off to do ToT instead.
We then went over to the Great Movie Ride (not as enjoyable as usual as the cast member driving our train wasn't particularly good) and the sound studios. Have you ever gone in the sound booths where you sit in the dark and wear the headphones (very strange experience) DH managed to nod off!
Went back to RnR to use our FP's I chickened out as usual and spent the time sat enjoying the sunshine. There was a DJ outside entertaining the crowds and a huge group of college kids dancing so the time passed quite quickly.
We had lunch at the ABC Commissary (more burgers) then took in the afternoon Lights Motors Action show and the Backlot Tour. We were headed towards The Little Mermaid when DH noticed there was no queue for Millionaire so we popped in to have a go. I always find the questions too 'American' for us Brits so as usual we didn't do very well.
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid was as charming as ever. DS only came in on the condition we took him to the Star Wars shop so we headed over there next and spent the best part of an hour watching lots of grown men playing with the light sabres (very, very funny)
The park was a bit too crowded for comfort so we watched the Stars and Motorcars parade then headed off to I.Drive for a game of mini golf at Pirates Cove and some shopping at Belz (disappointing) Then we went over to Downtown Disney to meet up with DBIL and his family for dinner at Planet Hollywood. DH & DBIL had the ribs (huge) DSIL & I had steaks (much more manageable) As usual it was too noisy in there to hear yourself think so we skipped desert and got sundaes from Giardellis (?) instead (delicious)
We had a good stroll round to walk off dinner and I got DH to take a look at a DVC information centre (he is mellowing to the idea) then it was back to the hotel for more reality TV
