Lisa and Geoff's Castaway Cay DCL Dream Wedding PJ&TR 11-12-11

I love the idea of the sixpence! I'm going to look into it. The idea of wearing yours as an anklet is great. I really think it's a great way of honoring your grandparents.

I wish I'd known about the site for sixpences before my wedding I would have put 2 on my bouquet with the years my grandparents were married.

Lisa - how were you able to book your wedding ceremony more than 1 year in advance? Did you call DCL or DFTW? I'm planning on a May 2012 wedding at Castaway Cay, and we are about to start our room block. My fiance and I called DFTW and they would not put us down for 5/19/12 because the date is greater than 12months. Any advice would be appreciated :)

Yay......I love DCL brides! If u have any questions ask away!

Dolly- Thank you for all of the wonderful ideas! I have already sent one newsletter out and I am planning to do another one soon. Luckily I am a year out and have lots of time to work on stuff!

I called DFTW and told them I was interested in booking a DCL wedding- I didnt give the original person a date that I wanted since I wasn't 100% set on a date but more interested in seeing what was available. The girl took a message and told me someone would call me back. Shanda called me back I think the next day and I told her the date I was looking at and she said to contact her as soon as I booked the cruise with my confirmation number and I did. That is when she added on the price of the wedding to my reservation. She did tell me that she was able to book it because they already had the 2011 prices. I was pleasantly surprised with how smoothly it went. She sent me all of the paperwork and my planning guide. I would tell you if they won't let you book it now, wait until January 2011 and they should have the 2012 prices and should let you book then. Good Luck!

Lisa, THANK YOU! I have read your PJ and TR a hundred times! Once I saw your experience I was hooked. I also am taking my own wedding photographer with me! Thank you for doing such a great job on your PJ and TR for the rest of us!

Subscribing....like the sixpence idea..I never knew that was part of the something old, something new....Can't wait to hear more...

I had so much fun working with Lisa on a few printables for her DCL Dreams Wedding that I couldn't wait to post them for her. She knew that she wanted her wedding colors of tangerine and green and a round logo with a ship in it to represent the cruise. From there she decided that she wanted to use her wedding logo on a candy bar wrapper and box for playing cards so that her guests would have something fun to do in their cabin, on the deck or hanging out at the beach on Castaway Cay! I'm sure she will post pictures of her finished products once she gets them made...but in the meantime, here are the printables that I designed for her wedding:

We are also working on another fun favor in honor of her DF! One of us will post a picture once we finish the extra special design.

Dolly is absolutely amazing and I love everything she has designed for me.

I was able to find playing cards at the Dollar Tree for $1.00 for a two deck package. Not too bad. I am in the process of getting things together for a gift bag. I will list the items I have found so far:

Tylenol
Sewing Kit
Wet Wipes
Hand Sanitizer
Mini First Aid Kit
Playing cards
Hershey Bar
Sunscreen
Disney Pens
Disney Post It notes
Disney Mints

I am working on a couple of other little things as well.

OK, things are moving right along. I got my dress and my tiara.

For the tiara, Amanda (another Disney bride) posted a picture of this tiara. I fell in love with it so she graciously told me she got it a store called The Sewing Room in Maitland. I showed it to my sister, Tina, and she agreed that it would be perfect. We got in the car and drove to Maitland in search of the tiara. Luckily, Maitland was only 30 minutes away and they had it. SO- infinite "thank yous" to Amanda for sharing where she bought hers! Notice the hidden Mickey right in the front of it. I really didn't want my wedding to scream Disney even though we are getting married on Castaway Cay.

Two weeks ago I was out shopping with my mom and aunt and we decided to just go "look" at wedding dresses. We walked into David's Bridal (without an appt. which I don't really suggest) and waited for a consultant. Looking at a million dressed all crammed onto a rack sure is intimidating...

I pulled about 7 dresses to try on and went into Room 11. I thought it was funny that it was Room 11 since we wanted to get married on 11-11-11 (we are getting married on 11-12-11) and my DF birthday is 1-11. We have lots of 1s and 11s around us. I put on the first dress and walked out of the room and about lost it! I really had to fight to hold back tears. This was the dress, no question about it.

I tried on several other dresses but just kept thinking about the first one. I put it back on and was absolutely sure. It is ivory (really light) chiffon and has beautiful beading under the bust that goes down the back of the dress. The picture does not do it justice. I didnt bring a camera to take a picture since I hadn't planned on buying a dress that day.

It will be perfect for a beach wedding and I was able to order it without the train as I didnt want to drag a train down the beach. I am very pleased with my purchase!

Congratulations on finding your dress and a tiara! That is so exciting and a major "check" off your list of wedding to do's. I think your dress is perfect for a wedding on a beach! You will look beautiful.

I'm so IN LOVE with that tiara!! Especially with the little mickey :)
And your dress is gorgeous :)

Omg Lisa... Not only do we share the same name, getting married within weeks apart, I almost bought that dress too!!! I loved the way it felt. It is perfect for a destination wedding. The only reason I didn't get it is because I ended up wanted a bit more bling... Lol!! Post a picture of you in it when you can! Congrats on the dress purchase. I know how exciting it is to get it out of the way.

As requested..here is a picture of me in MY dress. I ordered it and it was in within 4 weeks time...originally I had been told it would take 4 months. I love it! :lovestruc

Here is a picture of the beading, close-up. I ordered it without a train since I figured it would be easier getting married on the beach.

Lisa, There is another Lisa on here too getting married on Castaway Cay within days of us. That is kinda cool. :cheer2:

We got engaged on June 6, 2010...

Ring.jpg

This is my ring. It is very sentimental to me as the center stone belonged to my maternal grandmother. She and my grandfather were married over 50 years when my grandfather died. I think the stone has great energy and means alot. We also have our wedding bands already!

Love the ring, it's beautiful. Such a lovely personal touch.

Brilliant idea, the "Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the crew" bit is really good. I love the idea of using photo's from a past trip.

So the other day I was online looking for the tradition of something old, something new... The original saying goes like this...

Something old and something new, something borrowed, something blue, and a sixpence for your shoe.

Also printed in the card which I am not sure if you can read is "Tradition says if a bride wears an English sixpence coin in the shoe of her left foot on her wedding day her marriage will be blessed with wealth."

I ordered a sixpence from 1927, the year my grandparents (who are no longer with us) were married. I have the engagement stone from my grandmother in my engagement ring. Since I am getting married on the beach and will most likely not have shoes on, I am having a jeweler put a loop on it and I will wear it as an ankle bracelet. It was very reasonable to buy and if you don't want a specific year they start at $8.95. The website is www.silversixpence.com The silver coin is much shinier than what the scan shows.

I'd never heard of this before, thank you for bringing this to my attention lol You've just inspired me with this - many thanks xx

Again I'm loving your photo's. You're going to have one wonderful day. The 'hidden mickey' in your tiara is a nice homage to disney without being too obvious.

Aww! you look so beautiful in that dress, I can see why you chose it. I agree with you ordering it without the train. I love your PJ and I can't wait for more photo's and also I look forward to photo's from your big day.

Congratulations by the way lol... I got a bit carried away with your photo's.

Have fun planning the rest of your wedding xx
