Apologies for the title, I couldn't resist. :lmao:

I know there is already many a thread regarding shares, but bear with me...

After the success of our December trip, DFi and I are looking into buying shares for our anniversary in May. We already know that we're going to DLP again in December (dates are confirmed but we're undecided on hotel), but now my family have caught wind and my mum is contemplating joining us for the trip.

If they do join us, then the chances are the four of them will stay in one room at DLH, and pay the difference for DFi and I to stay at HNY (at the moment we're toying around with the idea of SL, so the upgrade would very much be appreciated!).

What I'm wondering is, if we bought the shares under my name, would I be able to get a shareholders discount on both hotel bookings if I booked both?

I know it's a stretch, and if not then DFi and I might just have to tighten the purse strings this year and also stay at DLH (what a hardship :rolleyes1) - Would this work? If I booked two rooms between six people at DLH would the shareholders discount cover it?

I hope all of that made sense. I know my little brother and sister are dying to go again and my mum just needs one good reason and she'll jump on the bandwagon. If we buy our shares and let them use our discount then it might just be the little push they need!

:thanks:

please please please don't buy your shares because you think you'll be getting a good deal using shareholders discount for booking room only onsite at DLP.

Shareholders club has loads of fantastic perks, room bookings are not part of that however. You get 10 or 20% off room only or package bookings - this is off the full rack (walk-in) rate on the rooms. For example, the rack rate, low season at the Santa Fe is over 100 euros per night :scared1:. 4 people staying in the DLH on a package with Disney's own regular discounts will cost less (a lot less) than a 10 or 20% discount on room only with shareholders club.

Oh no, that's not our only reason! We enjoy eating out when we go to DLP and especially when visiting with my whole family the prices really start to rack up. If anything the shareholders card would be more for use in restaurants - on our last trip we ended up spending £700 on food, which we don't mind, but to save a chunk of that would be great.

That is a shame about the room rates though, I hadn't considered the fact that there is almost always some kind of offer on. Looking at prices for the hotels at the moment we'd be saving 25% anyway for our dates with the early booker discount.

Oh well, at least this way we can book sooner that May if we please and get the shareholders card at a later date to use when we get there. :goodvibes
