Does anyone know the real words to the beginning of the "Lion King" movie? The part where they yell some African chant and then it goes right into "The Circle of Life" and the animals journey up to Pride Rock?

Bonus points if you know the chant, can spell it and have any clue of its' translation.

Thanks!

Is this what you are looking for?

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [There comes a lion]
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion]

Nants ingonyama bagithi baba
Sithi uhhmm ingonyama
Ingonyama

Siyo Nqoba [We're going to conquer]
Ingonyama
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala [Here is a lion and a tiger]

[Chant repeats]

From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

Thank you very, very much! I thought that first word, Nants ingonyama, which has turned out to be 2 words, started with a "M" and my son thought is was a "B". Well, we're both wrong, but I'm very happy to have the real lyrics.

Very kind of you. Thanks again.

You know I had always wondered about that myself, and you posting just made me go search for it :teeth: Kind of neat to know what is being said too :)

Wow! I'm impressed! I always sang it something like

"Laaaas, sko-pain-ya, ba ba bees, e mah vor, pain-ya ma"

Never knew it had real words!!

I always went "matsuwanya jibba jep jibba ja". Not even close, huh?

A former coworker always sang "Pink pajamas, penguins on the bottom" so that's what's in my head when I hear it! Thanks, Lainey, now I can sing the right words!

Thank you! My DS5 and DS3 have been making up words for the song, and now I can teach them the correct verses. I won't even try to write them down here as they are unspellabe as they are unpronouncible.

You can choose to see the subtitles on your DVD. Its an option on my remote. That way you can see the words as they are being sung.

My personal favorite is..."What's on the menu?... (sorry, don't have these words)...It's Pumba......":teeth:
