We have 3 days to stay somewhere befoer we go inte the Fort would this be worth the extr drive to go to and what else to do in that area, we are just trying to find somewhere to rest before we attack Disney. Thanks for any help.

that is a long drive just to go and see what you can see at AK

go see Sea World or Universal

Ditto on that. A longgggggggggggg drive to not even see what you will at AK.
If you want to relax, why not try one of the many State parks within an hour's drive of WDW. You can see manatees right now at Homosassa Springs, you can canoe at Wekiva Springs, Tomoka has excellant fishing or Rainbow Springs is very beautiful this time of year. Or, you could head up to Ocala and go to Silver Springs. They usually have a concert series with great entertainment and lots to do. All have very good camping and are relaxing ventures and great leadups to the Fort. Good luck and enjoy your trip. :thumbsup2

Never camped @ a state park in Fl. we have a 39 & a 36 foot 5th wheel going are we to big for them and what kind of hook ups, here in De. they are mostly water or water & electric. We ahve 4 people in each unit.( I will check the state park web site also just thought with he experts haere I would get first hand info) Thanks again

Take a look at st.augustine theres a KOA there and plenty to do also it's on your way from del. and your not that far away only 2-3 hours. Check it out if you can you should not be disapointed, We loved it!! K.:thumbsup2

Fort Desoto over on the Gulf side, in St. Pete Beach is also very nice! Sites on the water, lots of trees, etc.

We camped there and it was awesome! We requested a campsite near the back where the Lion's house was and oh man was that awesome. As long as you don't mind hearing them, the sound was awesome as they would growl first thing in the morning before being let out and then again in the evening. You could also hear them during the day. I just loved being that close. Also, when we went it was before they fenced them in from the cars during the drive through and we have pictures of them chewing on our bumper. Changed that since crazy people drove through with their windows open (not allowed) and eating their lunch! It was truly amazing.

You will see so many more animals than you will on the safari at Animal Kingdom. It amazes me how many different kinds of animals there are and they are all around you, really, really close. The giraffe exhibit is really great. You can get out of your car and feed them from a high deck.

You will not be disappointed. You should definitely go there at least once in your lifetime.
