Linking tickets to Magic Bands?

Hi all,
Probably a stupid question but here goes:
My wife and I are headed to BW Villas in March. We bought 2 4 day PH's on the Disney website and just received our Magic bands in the mail today. Does Disney automatically link your tickets to your Magic Bands or do you have to do that yourself? When I go on My Disney Experience I see all of my old MB's listed as well as all of the Park passes I've bought over the years. The first tickets listed are active so I'm assuming those are for the upcoming trip. Do i need to link them? Thanks!

Jim

Tickets don’t link “to” a band. The band just acts as a key to access everything in your account. You should be all set.

Your tickets and magic band get linked to your MyDisneyExperience accounts.
If you purchased the tickets directly through the Disney website and your magic bands were selected as part of a resort stay reservation then both should already be linked.
If you see both on there then there's nothing else for you to do.

Thanks for the quick replies. I thought that was how it worked but I got confused when I saw an option to link tickets on the MDE website.

Yes, if you had bought tickets from a third party you would have used that option to link them to MDE (and through MDE to your MBs). Having bought all through Disney, you’re all set!

Just riding on top of this thread, I'm just buying tickets(no resort stay), and the only delivery options are "Will Call" or having them mailed to my address. In the past I thought I could get a number to add in MDE to automatically link them. Did things change?

If you bought from Disney online while signed into your MDE account, they’ll automatically be linked and you just need to assign them to individuals. If bought from Disney via phone, you can enter your confirmation number into MDE to link your tickets. If you bought from another vendor, you should also get a confirmation number that you can link.

Hello - sorry for responding to an old thread - but I just wanted to confirm my understanding. As long as tickets/reservations/etc are linked to My Disney Experience, and the existing magic bands are still showing as active, we should be able to use them without issue, correct?

Thank you again for humoring such a basic question - I just don't want to have any problems when we show up.

However.... Remember that MagicBands have batteries that only last about 2 years. You can still use Magic Bands with dead batteries for most things (room key, park tickets, credit card), but they won’t work for things like trigging photos on rides.
