Linking then deactivating NE Ticket. What do you think?

I have seen several posts where people have expressed concerns about linking a NE ticket to their MDE profile, and then having days "accidently" used off of that NE ticket when they are on a longer trip where they have also linked an expiring ticket and want to use that expiring ticket, not their NE ticket. Some have even suggested not linking NE tickets, and using the actual NE ticket to enter the park in order to make sure NE days do not get used accidently. However, by doing that, you cannot use FP+

I am considering setting up a second profile for myself on MDE and only linking NE tickets to that profile. Then, when I linked a future room reservation to that second profile, I would get a magic band that would only have access to my NE tickets. However, for trips where I linked my room reservation to my original profile, I would have a different magic band that would only have access to the expiring tickets linked to my original profile. That way I could make sure my NE tickets were never used accidently. Especially since you can not see the remaining days on a linked NE ticket, so there is no way to track during or after a trip that the ticket days used from multiple linked tickets were actually used the way you wanted.

However, when looking at the MDE magic bands and cards page, it shows all tickets linked to that profile, and has an option to individually deactivate any of those tickets. It then gives a message that states "Card is not in use. This card cannot be used while deactivated. You may activate it at any time." Linking all my tickets to the same profile and then only activating the NE tickets for trips where I wanted to use them, would seem a lot simpler than setting up a second profile to make sure my NE days do not get used accidently.
What are your thoughts?

I received conflicting advice about how to use the promotional tickets if you already have other tickets in your account--e.g. non-expiring tickets. I bought the 4 day tickets for DSis and DNiece, who both already have non-expiring tickets. I was told by someone that if I deactvate the non-expiring tickets via MDE, then park entrances would be deducted from the 4 day ticket. Then after the 4 day ticket is used up, I could reactivate the non-expiring tickets. WRONG! Deactivating a ticket on MDE simply keeps the hard ticket from being used if it is lost or stolen; it does nothing to the actual entrance entitlements in MDE. You MUST take the time to go to Guest Relations to have the tickets "stacked" so that the one you want to use is on top (prioritized). Learned this the hard way. Got it fixed but it was a long and messy process.
Saw the above quoted post on a different thread just after I started this thread. Thanks Jean.
Your post seems to answer my question, I should definitely set up a second profile for my NE tickets.

I just checked MDE account. My 10 day NE tickets are listed under tickets and when clicked on, shows days used- go figure, as I did not know that was in there!
I've had annual passes, tickets from a package deal, and various other forms of tickets in my account, and the NE tickets have not been used when not intended. What I did was reassign unused tickets to another fake PERSON in my MDE account, then switched those same tickets back when needed to use. Even tickets bought as part of a package were able to be moved to my fake person. I was surprised at this, but there they still are, unused (had annual passes at the time) and available.
I think it may be more problematic to have tickets in another account, but haven't had to try this.

I think tickets can only be "switched" if they have never been used. If you assigned an unused ticket to a fake person in your MDE account, you would later be able to switch it to yourself when needed. However, once the ticket was used once, you would not be able to move it to anyone else, including moving it back to the fake person it was originally assigned. At that point the ticket is permanently linked to your MDE account, so you would then have the potential problem it might get accidently used on your next visit.
Please let me know if that is incorrect. Based on your post, it does not appear you actually switched a ticket between people after the ticket had been used.

You can go to guest services and hav ethem move your NE tickets to the bottom instead of being at the top/first use - that way you dont' have to worry abou tit

Correct, you can only reassigned tickets that have never been used to enter a park.

So this seems like a good way to "park" extra NE tickets until ready to use. Assign them to a fake person (could probably even use the name: Extra Tickets.) When ready to be used by a family member you simply reassign. I would keep the actual tickets in a safe place as well.

However, once you use up your expiring ticket on your current trip, if you add a new expiring ticket for your next trip, does your NE ticket stay at the bottom? Seems like every trip you would need to go guest services to make sure your tickets are properly prioritized.

I think setting up a second profile that only contained NE tickets would be easier in the long run. I do not think I would ever have a trip where I used an expiring ticket for some of the days and my previously purchased NE ticket for other days. If I was short park days, I would just add days, at a very low extra cost, to my expiring ticket. The only possible exception might be the special 4 day 4 park ticket that does not allow days to be added.
