Linking Disney Dining Plan to ADR's

Is it necessary to call in advance and link our DDP to our ADR's or just do that when we arrive for our meal?

The only time you need to link your Dining plan to your reservation is when you are making a reservation for CRT or one of the dinner shows (Hoop de Doo, Luau, Mickey's Barbecue) and you want to use your dining credits rather than pay with a credit card because these are fully pre-paid at the time you make the reservation.
