linking dinner ressie with friends

We are cruising with another family and we both requested first seating for dinner. We were both given second seating, waitlisted for first. Well my girlfriend got changed to first and we are still waitlisted, but we want to have dinner together. Can I still link the ressie even though we have different seatings? Or should I wait and see if we get 1st too, and them link them? My only concern was that she might get changed to 2nd seating and be waitlisted again like we are, or that if I wait and we do get 1st seating that we might get a different rotation. Has anyone else run into this problem?

NO. My friend thougtht I linked them, and I thought she did.

I'd wait until boarding, and go to the area set up for dining changes. Request to be together and have first seating when you get there, they will find a place for you, and you should have a better chance of getting the 1st seating then.

My first cruise was fully booked, and 1st seating was sold out. One of the other 2 families we were with was bumped to 2nd seating because she wasn't linked correctly to us. We went right away to have it changed and had no problems getting 1st seating, all together.
