Linked Reservations/Dining Plan Question

I have a reservation that is made 1/2 with my points and 1/2 with my mothers. It is linked so we need to check in/out, but don't need to change rooms. I'm thinking of adding the dining plan. If i go online to my DVC account, I can only add it for my portion of the stay. That would be great, but member services says I need to add it to the whole linked reservation (No problem). I don't know what would happen if i just added it to my 1/2? Anyway, if I add it to both linked reservations, when do the credits expire? Since I have to add it to the whole linked reservation, I would assume all the credits would be good the whole time, is that correct?
THANKS! :)

That's weird. I'm not sure it works that way, because even linked, they're each unique reservations with unique confirmation numbers, no?

You can only add the dining plan to your part of the reservation because that's the only part you own. Your mom would have to add it to her portion. Your portion would end on your check out day. Her's would start on her check in day.

The whole reservation is for me, she wont be checking in. I'm an associate on one account and owner of the other). I have 5 days on my membership, and then 2 days on hers (associate). I would love to get the dining plan on just those first 5 days. When i called and questioned doing that, they said i would need to add it to all 7 days as they are linked so we can stay in the same room. I can go add it just to the first 5 days, but they said i couldn't and i don't want to break the rules. I would think if they make you add it to all 7 days they should let you use all the credits over the 7 days. Has anyone ever did this before? Thanks! :)

If you only want the dining plan for your five night stay, you'd have to move into a different location for the next part of your reservation. Since it is the same location for all nights, you have to purchase the dining plan for all the nights of your stay. That's the rule with DVC. Unless you move to a different villa, you buy it for every night of your reservation. If you could get it for five nights, it would expire at check out from the first part of your reservation.

You buy the plan by the number of nights you book. So you actually have one less day of dining if you have a seven night stay - just seven days worth of credits, not eight days worth. But it is good from the day you check in to the day you check out.

You'll have to unlink them I believe to add the DP for one part or the other. I'm not sure you'll be able to link them again after you do unless you add the DP to both. You can still request not to move so that's still an option just not guaranteed. I'd unlink them, add the DP then try to link them again and if that doesn't work just make it a request no to move on both reservations, when you check in and again on change day.
