Linked reservations and checking in

Yes, I've done a search, no I could not find an answer or it was just too confusing on other posts. I have two cabins linked (family of 6) and can see both reservations when I log into my DHs reservation (with 2 of the kids) or log into mine (with other two kids). Now comes time for check in, do we need to log in separately to check in or will it let us check in all at once while being signed in on one account? I've never had two separate cabins so this is all new to me and my check in window is opening in a week.

Also, once we are all checked in and we have a PAT, can we book excursions together or do we still have to do it signed in separately? We are obviously doing excursions as a family and would like to book at the same time.

Each reservation (room) must check in separately. As to whether you can both be logged in and checking in each of your rooms separately, not sure. If you and your husband have separate accounts, yes, you can both be logged in at the same time and do your separate checkins at the same time.

But, I think, if you're going to check in both rooms under the same account, only one at a time can be done.

I believe we are under separate accounts - for some reason I did it that way. Thank you so much for your quick answer and help on this PrincessShmoo

I did 2 rooms from one account. I had to do one after the other. So, for me, getting the PAT was more important than any tickets or excursions, so I did that first. I think PrincessShmoo has some good advice on how to get through all the identity stuff quickly to get to the PAT, but I forget what it was. I decided to put all my details in while going through the forms. To make things faster, I had a spreadsheet open with everyone's passport number, name and birthdate in a cell. For each person, I could just copy and paste the data from the spreadsheet, not have to type it in (and correctly!). That worked for me to get to the PAT, but I know there is another way, if you're wanting to move to the second room quickly.

When you go to the DCL website and pull up your reservation, are you logged in as you? And, when you go to your husband's reservation are you logged in as him?

I mean logged into the DCL website, not your reservation.

You can be logged in under your name, and still access both reservations, as long as you have one person's name & birthdate that's on each reservation.

Quick way to Port Arrival Time page (all other pages/blanks must be filled out to unlock that page):

Say you are using private transportation (don't need to enter flight numbers/arrival or departure times.

Say you are using cash (don't need to enter credit card info)

Say you are using driver's licenses/birth certificates (don't need to enter passport numbers/expiration dates).

Any spaces you don't know the answer for (at the time) just enter something - random word/numbers, gibberish. The system only recognizes that SOMETHING was entered, not that it makes any sense.

Once you've gotten your PAT, you can go back at anytime prior to 3 days before your cruise and "fix" any errors.

I logged in dcl and its me on one email and hubby on another. I guess I'm still lost on determining if they are in fact separate or on same one as they just show up when I log into either account. Would DCL know if I called and asked them if they are under same account or under separate ones? Not even sure I'm asking that correctly now that I think about it.

We were just in the same situation with the rest of our traveling party.
We were able to book everybody who was linked from our login, except for Palo, which I was trying to book for my in-laws but you have to have someone from your own stateroom.
This should not be a problem for you since it's you and your husband, but FYI the other stateroom people cannot book their excursions while you are logged in booking yours.
Also, I'm pretty sure you have to do the check-in process (passport info, travel info, credit card etc) per stateroom -so logging in one, logging out, and then logging into the other one. Try to do that in quick succession so you have the same PAT.
Good luck!

FYI: you will need to book a PAT for each cabin separately. All the other things (excursions) can be booked under one reservation.
That's because the Port Arrival Time selection is part of the online check in. Online check in must be done separately for each reservation.

Excursions and such can be done for all linked rooms through one reservation.

Sorry to jump on this thread, but it is related -sort of. We are taking our 2nd cruise in Oct , our friends have booked also, it's their 1st cruise. So we are on seperate bookings, but we have linked them so we can sit together at dinner. I believe we can book Port Adventures about 2 weeks before they can; would I be able to book for all 4 of us when our date opens up? If we have to book seperately, how do we guarantee we'll be in the same groups?

Thanks for any advise

No, you can only book excursions for those people in your room. The names of the people on your linked reservations will still show, but will be grayed out, until their window opens.

You will have to wait to book theirs until there window opens, but go ahead and book yours ASAP. That way, you will have that many slots at least, in case they are hard to come by. Then when their window opens, just book theirs for the same times and you will be fine. (For Palo, you might have to remind them that you are together, but probably not since your reservations are linked.) If you can't get enough slots for them at that time, just keep trying, more slots will probably open up. And if they don't, you could always cancel yours closer to sail at no penalty.
