I am getting confused as too how this is going to work. Any help would be appreciated. I know that Star Tours will have a FP. That would work good for MM- but the FP wont open until the official park time. My main concern is for LM- how is the line going to work? I am pretty sure I read on here about when WOC was released that people actually camped out for the line. And .... when it did open- OMG that line was huge! I knew that if we stayed onsite- I could get my FP before other quests. So how will LM line work? There is no FP and if we stayed onsite..... would there be a special line that leads to LM? I could only imagine getting in line only to get yelled at by an angry mob who had been waiting all night for the ride. :headache: And then be told that I had to stand in the back of the line! So I guess my question is " Would staying onsite be any help at all to get to the ride faster? " Thanks!

Well, LM is REALLY close to the entrance from GCH. So I'd imagine the same principle would apply there that does for TSMM, got line up there before rope drop and book it to the ride!

For ST, on a MM I'd be there at the end (5 minutes early or so) to get a FP right away and then hop in line. Who knows, maybe they will have it open for MM at first... On a non-MM I'd be there for rope drop on the tomorrowland side, book it over, and do the same.

I never read that about WOC's opening, and I'm not sure where people would really be "camping out"? They obviously couldn't camp out in the parks, and the esplanade closes after the parks close. If you're there before security is set up in the morning, you have to go back through security.

I don't think anyone knows yet how the line for LM will work. Right now the only place you can get FP's before park opening is WOC if you're staying on-site. The rest of the park is roped off. You can typically ride Soarin' early (open at 9:30 or so) but that's the only ride. Even TSMM, the popular ride in DCA currently, doesn't have an early line - more of a mob lined up behind the rope ready to "walk with purpose" to the boardwalk.

I am already preparing myself for an insane line when I first check out LM this summer. I remember going to the parks when Splash Mountain first opened and the line was 3 hours long. Just a necessary evil! Since this will be a ride similar to Haunted Mansion as far as the ride vehicles are concerned, hopefully it will move a little quicker.

The only possibility is if you stay onsite and DLR keeps the GCH entrance to DCA open at 9AM. In that case you can get in line for LM inside DCA at the rope and be one of the first onto the ride. Otherwise I do not think there is advantage for onsite hotels and LM.

DLR sets up a special line for the overnighters. I think they do use the Esplanade or maybe DTD.

Learn something new every day! I'm guessing that's just for the very first day the ride will open though, right?

Ok good to know. I feel a bit less stressed. not like i have my reservations or anything for the Grand yet. I did however notice that staying at the Grand on June 3 was an insane amount. I did not yet check the price for June 2. Assuming that the ride does open on June 3- most people would stay overnight on the 2nd right? Of course they could just check in early on the 3rd. And then spend the night to get to LM early again on Sat. Which would be blocked to most Ap's . Sneaky! but this park doesnt open till 10 am... would you think they would try to do the other park first and then take the monorail to DTD- then go thru the lobby at the GCH - then get in the early line for the LM? That would avoid alot of people. But dont take my idea! hehe And just to clarify- any onsite hotel would allow me to get to the early waiting line, not just the Grand? Ok that was prolly a dumb question. See how my mind rambles?

I'm out of breath just reading that! Have you already booked your trip? Are you concerned with seeing Little Mermaid on the first day it opens? If not, and you're already stressing about the logistics of it, I would just schedule for a different week and avoid opening day. If the difference between staying off-site and staying on-site is hundreds of dollars (which it likely is), I don't know that it's worth it. I'd rather spend an extra hour in line for a ride than pay hundreds to ride it sooner.

I like the way you think :thumbsup2
A few more things to consider:
It is allowed to check-in to an on-property hotel early in the morning and use your room key to access the early entry through the Grand or Magic Morning at Disneyland. I already had a trip planned and will check-in June 3, so I might drive all night (early morning) to arrive at the resort early.
I suspect there might be some special guests at the Star Tours opening, Anthony Daniels is in town :yay:
Both rides opening on the same day is problematic, to say the least :headache:

The ride aint goin anywhere,it'll be open all summer I'm sure. :confused3

That was funny Darph Nader! Yes I know the ride will be there all summer- but its ARIEL!!! And I already bought my Little Mermaid shirt and my new Ariel drawstring backpack! :rotfl2: I CANT WAIT!! And no I have not yet booked the trip. As for those who have read any of my other posts from the past year or so- I am famous for planning a trip and then canceling it. :lmao: Not because I wanted too cancel, but because I had too. The last trip was supposed to be in Jan- but we got really sick with the flu, just days before we were supposed to leave. So then I had rescheduled it for the end of March. And then they released the official dates for the LM ride. Which I still wanted to go in March- but if it will be my only trip this year- I can wait until June. Well i cant really wait- but that is what I am trying to tell myself. ;) And to hold me over - I am buying aP's for Discovery Kingdom. Its about an hour and a half away from my house. I know its run down- haven't even been back there since 06. But I need something to do to get my kids and myself out of the house!!! And I can not go to Disneyland every month- atleast not yet! We are planning on moving to SoCal by the end of next year. Sooo until then- Discovery Kingdom it is. Plus my 2 year old will like it. (animal lover).
so I have not yet booked it officially yet- debating on waiting to see if any deals come out. DH has two weeks off at the end of May- which runs into June ... before his summer semester starts. So I am trying to convince him June 3rd is the REAL DEAL! And like a few others here- i am trying to think of how I want to plan for it- do I want to spend all my days at the onsite or split it... hehe the dilemma!

Ohhhh - where did you find the Ariel merchandise!! I'm looking more forward to the Little Mermaid gift shop than the ride!! :-)

Thank heavens for that! The first time we'll be there after it opens is September...and I was almost hyperventilating thinking of having to camp out overnight to ride on a ride. One of my daughter is a LM fan since she could say "merma" so not riding it won't be an option, lol. Of course, she's a teen so I could always just put her in line and go have a nice lesuirely breakfast somewhere right?

I know there are "true" fans willing to wait hours, but heavens I can't imagine doing that. I still remember the photos of the lines when the sub ride opened....we were doing WDW for a couple of years so first time back at DL last fall we went....and we were soooo disappointed with that ride. Boring! Unimaginative, and uncomfortable too. Just so not up to our perception of Disney quality. And then we got to thinking of all those people who stood in line for 2 or 3 hours to ride it....for weeks and weeks those lines were crazy. We walked on it when we went and now I know why....everyone has figured out it's not worth the wait, lol.

Ya'll have fun standing in those lines...just please, don't come back in September to ride again, I'd like to find decent length lines! Please!

We check out and travel on the 3rd. Our flight is not til 4:45 out of LAX. So we plan on having the bell guys pick up our bags in the morning and then we'll head to DCA for rope drop... Hopefully it will be open in the morning and there won't be any grand opening ceremony la di da... Of course if we can get on a soft opening ride while we are there the 7 days prior to the 3rd that would be even more ideal! :thumbsup2

See you all in the queue! :yay:

i have not read anything about having a FP for LM, and to confirm i asked a CM and they said that after the ride opens if the park feels LM needs one they will put one in..

To each his own. Can you imagine if the opening of the 'New Tomorrowland' had been announced on the internet in 67?? Granted,Disney made it a big thing back then, but people didn't base their life around it.
Not 'steppin' on you tinks

For new rides opening day, Disney usually lets guest line up on the shuttle side of disney along the bush.

As for the opening, the waiting queue are set to release by time. aka 9am, only up to Soaring<-->Right B4 Grizzy, 9:30am, up to the bathrooms in San Fransisco, however, ppl with reservations @ Ariels are let through. then at 10am, all rides are open.

hrm thats a thought... book a breakfast for Ariels on June 3rd! How early would I get in? 9am? Then after breakfast head to the LM ride ....hopefully a CM will guide me to a line... what if it is way at the back of the line! :rotfl2:
Funball- I hope they do put in a FP machine. I have seen crazy lines for HM and they have FP too- in fact there was a seperate line just to get FP! Gotta love Disney! :grouphug:
Oscarrykitty1- I got the bag from Amazon and the shirt from Ebay- its an international store and will take about 4-8 weeks to get here. popcorn:: hopefully it will get here...

Just a matter of luck :wizard:
