Lines at FP+ Kiosks

Now that my ADRs and FP+ are all done for my December trip, I've started doing more detailed daily itineraries. And I'm remembering how long the lines were at the in-park FP+ Kiosks were for getting the 4th, etc. fastpasses, 15-20 deep at each spot with its own line, and CMs having to stop line-cutters. (I have a picture of the lines somewhere actually, so I'm not exaggerating!)

I remember thinking that surely they will have MORE kiosks for my next visit. Well, last visit was over a year ago, and looking at the maps I see NO additional kiosks. Since last trip was during a "non-peak" time (September), I am imagining horrific lines there in December.

Can anyone give me an idea of how long the afternoon lines are at the FP+ kiosks in MK these days?

I went during October last year and don't remember any kiosk lines being 15-20 customers deep. In my experience I had to wait about 5 or 6 turns to get to the kiosk.

I was there in Sept this year and it seemed like certain stations had longer lines than others. In MK, i had no wait at the FP stations in tomorrowland or near the jungle cruise. The kiosks in Fantasyland had a 4-5 people in line

At HS, the kiosk by Muppets was always walk up when we were there in August. No lines, no one ahead of us most of the time. Once I think we had to wait for one couple to make a selection. Avoid the one there in the hub (crossroads?) at all costs!

I have not been at Christmas, but over Presidents Day last year, I definitely saw lines of 20 individual parties deep... In both fantasy land and Frontierland. Also, after waiting 1/2 way through line, I found out that they were requiring ALL magic bands from group to book. I was done at that point, as my family had already left me in line to find a less crowded place to enjoy with our 3 kids. In July, lines were more reasonable, and the jungle cruise kiosk did seem more accessible. There were always people waiting at the other kiosks. I was able to book with just one band for the group at that point. I am betting the lines in December will be very long!

Last Friday when we were at MK, I used the FP kiosks by Philharmagic and only waited in line once. Unfortunately, I picked the wrong line, even though there was only one group in front of me, they took forever. Most of the time I walked right up to one and picked what I wanted and was done within a minute. I also had good luck at the kiosks in EPCOT as well. Didn't use any of AK or HS.

There are not nearly enough kiosks. I have seen many long lines. These things can't be that expensive to install. They need to double the amount of them.

This is very unusual, and was not the case this past weekend when I did it twice.

. It was a very unpleasant surprise. There was speculation that there was a glitch. There were CMs standing on something that raised them up a bit, so the line could see them, shouting, "you need every magic band in your party. " I even questioned a CM directly, as I knew it wasn't typically needed.

When we were there in June, it seemed like the kiosks in Tomorrowland always had the longest lines, but still only 4 or 5 people deep. Of course I always managed to get in the line with the person who had no clue what they were doing (one time I'm not even sure the person truly understood what the kiosk was for. I actually got out of that line and moved to another one and was *still* finished before that person was -- and they had a CM helping them.). We were able to walk up to the kiosks at Philharmagic and in Liberty Square with no waits. In AK, we had no wait and there was no kiosk -- just a few CM's with iPads who took care of everything in a split second. I can't remember which kiosks we used in Epcot, but I know there wasn't more than one person in front of me. At DHS, there were 5 people in front of me, but at that location they had everyone stand in one line and then a CM directed the first person in line to the next available kiosk. We waited less than 2 minutes. IMO, that's how all of the locations should handle it.

The reality is, the average person that has to resort to using the FP+ kiosks is fairly clueless to the process. If they weren't they would have made them 30/60 days in advance or from their phone that day. They should make 2 lines, one for 4th FP+ and one for newbs. The 4th FP+ line will move 20x faster.

I hardly waited in line early June, and I was there a lot. We used many FP throughout the course of a day. I did try very hard not to get behind the person who had no idea what he/she was doing. We saved way more minutes using the 4th, 5th, etc FPs than I spent waiting to use the kiosks. Especially at MK.

Everyone that was in front of me *was* making a 4th, 5th, 6th, etc. FP. I didn't see anyone making their initial choices. Not saying it doesn't happen, but everyone I could see was making additional FP's.

We were there in June on 8 and 9 crowd level days and I didn't wait more than 5 minutes at any kiosk. I got 6 additional FP at MK.

I'm guessing its also a time of day thing. I've seen some huge lines in the AM. Those are obviously not 4th FP'ers.

When you scan your band it will show you what your available options are. USUALLY when you scan one band in your group, it will default to making FP for all 5 people. I don't remember the process for changing this.

This past summer at DHS there were CMs making FPs on tablets that were near busy kiosks to make the wait time less. Our longest wait was at AK. Four mounted tablets did not work leaving us to wait behind the only terminal available. A CM was assisting a lady who had no clue and no smartphone to look at FPs made. The CM had to get paper and pen to write every thing down for her. The CM also had to label a map to help the woman. It took forever!
