Haunted Mansion is due to close on Aug 27 (Monday) for 3 weeks for the annual Halloween refurb (or re-theme, I guess). We're due to arrive in Anaheim late afternoon on the 26th. The plan was to get to hang out at the hotel and get to bed early rather than going to the park that day, but now I'm thinking I need to go to the park the evening of the 26th (Sunday) to attempt to ride HM (and possibly Jungle Cruise as well since it will also be closed on the 28th and 29th).

Just wondering what the lines at HM and JC are likely to be like the day before they close? Anyone have first-hand experience being there the day before a big attractions closes? It's unlikely that we would be able to get FPs since we're arriving late in the day.

Thanks.

I've been on the last day of an attraction a few times and lines were about normal. Though before Space in WDW closed a friend of mine went and said the line was huge, of course Space has a huge line anyway. It may of been bigger than normal of course this was closing for a major year long rehab, not a few days or week.

I wouldn't worry too much. JC normally has a short line 15 minutes and under and HM lline moves pretty quick and also normally about 15 or under. Sunday night you should be able to get both in and many more rides if you'd like to go.

Just a heads up, there are no FPs for either of those rides.

Good luck and have fun in your Doom Buggy. Sorry, just got back and the kiddos love it when the ride stops and they tell you to stay in your Doom Buggy.

Several visits ago, we were there over Labor Day weekend, and the Haunted Mansion usually closes the day after (for that idiotic Xmas overlay)... so the last two hours we rode the HM nonstop. There were minimal to no waits.

Thanks -- that's what I thought, too, that HM closed right after Labor Day. Evidently not this year.

I guess an extra half day at the park never hurt anyone!

And not last year either. The reason is it takes about 3 weeks to install the layover. It reopens at the start of the Halloween Season. The Halloween Season was streched out with soon starts. It used to start a week later, and before that another week later. The season has growed more popular hence the longer season.

last year we had one day to do DL, and sure enough HM was closed-:confused3
and this year, YEP-CLOSED! right when we get there!

maybe I am bringing bad WDW karma with me. I only want to see Walt's first home.......

so- next time, I am going in the pouring rain in january if I have to.

Do you know if will close for about a couple weeks on likely January 7th? This is when it closed to remove the layover.
